  1. I am starting reloading after 15 years and I'm re figuring out as I go. I have a question though that I cant find an answer for. I am setting my dies in a dillon 550b and I'm not sure what to look for with the crimp. how do i determine what the correct crimp is?
  2. Is their web site up yet? I tried to Google with no luck.
  3. I restarted shooting at age 45, it has been 15 years since i was a b class shooter. My eyes have been bad since age 40. After my third match with my new g-17 in production i am feeling pretty good back in the groove I haven't even practiced yet, just shot 3 matches. The guys called me a glock sniper Sunday because of my last shot on a Texas star behind a no shoot. Whats the secret? sight picture with Trijicon sights. I'm sure good fiber optic would be the same. I know I couldn't see black sights well enough to do well with them. I am considering going open and shooting minor with no comp and with j-point style sight. I think it might be the way to go until I shoot faster than my gun and i need to build a major 9 g-17...... Im just wondering if j-point is the way to go, do they hold up?
  4. is it necessary to store the media outside the tumbler and put it in to run it?
  5. I started with a 1911 got good with it and switched to a Glock and shot it well right out of the box. One thing i noticed with any gun I cant pull the trigger as fast as some guys can. Not even aiming just pulling the trigger some guys can really hammer it, my fingers just cant physically shoot that fast. That's why i am sticking with a Glock, my trigger timing is works the best for me. I won a double trouble match which was a draw and shoot two plates one above the other with a Glock 21. I would personally see if you can physically shoot one gun faster than the other before i would switch to a single action. my own finger speed limitations work well with a Glock. If I had a fast finger I would stick to a 1911 and just practice to the point where you can shoot fast and hit what your aiming at. I shot against a guy with the fastest trigger I have ever seen, close in he was amazing, he didn't have the accuracy at any distance, but I would love to be able to shoot that fast to start with, then slow down till you get the hits. I know thats backwards you need to get the hits and speed up, but i like to bring the targets close and go as fast as I can pull the trigger and then start putting farther shots to learn the sight picture.
  6. thanks for the input, let me ask this, I saw a kid running open shooting minor with a c-more sight and just bells and whistles no comp, do you think optics is a big enough advantage for a soft shooting 9mm to play in open? I don't have young eyes but I am having some luck shooting production with trijicon sights. i am just getting back into competition shooting after being out for 15 years. I should work on my fundamentals in production, before i think about upgrading but already after 2 matches I feel the pull back to an open gun that was so good to me in the old days. To answer your question, yes. No reason not to shoot non-compensated minor open if that's what you got to shoot. Sure, fit a comp later and transition to major. You can load down 9 minor loads to were they may track better than a comp'd major 9. Just get the trigger time in...somehow. Glad your making a come back. Remember to rejoin USPSA!! Jim I rejoined USPSA and NRA right after my first match i seen his web sight, whose barrel, comp, sights? you ordered everything and put it together yourself? I did my research and asked questions here. Then put it together. It's a glock so yes put it together myself with drop in parts. I have broken the locking block pin, the slide lock spring, cracked the comp, broke my JPoint. All minor things that I fixed myself. I shoot everything in major 9 now. Including steel and bianchi cup matches. Never have any jams and my dot never leaves the window! i am leaning towards the JPoint style sight, so i dont have to get my slide milled and because of the lower sight picture, is there one brand better or worse than the rest? doesnt the stock barrel have enough support? i thought glock 9mm's have good case support, only the 40's dont. ya i guess it does, after i said that i was reading more posts and someone said that so i looked at my barrel and it looks good to me. my glock shoots accurate enough for me now except i did have some trouble with a texas star last weekend. does anyone know if there is a significant accuracy advantage to a kkm or simular barrel?

  9. Where are you getting mags for $15? I agree, $15.00?
  10. I'm playing with the idea of using my g17 to shoot major 9mm with a SLC convertible comp setup. I'm all ready figuring to replace the factory barrel with a KKM stock length barrel for chamber support. But I want to make sure that you can make major with the standard length g17 barrel. Is there anyone that has this setup out there in 9mm?
  11. I'm new to production so bear with me, it is OK to install an OEM extended mad release for production class? and you can change the sights correct? and thats it?

    Uspsa Production

I was reading the rule book and it says that glock 34 is legal for production as long as it meets the other standards, what else does it need? Is it the 5 lb trigger pull? can I change the sights?
  16. can anyone measure there comp and thell me the general dimensions, height , width, length? Thanks

    Glock 17 Or 34

I thought the 17 and 34 slide were the same weight? I do agree that the 17 may be a better choice, a 34 open gun gets a bit long. My G17 is running 2 blow holes in the barrel and an 8 port comp (4 top, 4 side), and the dot never leaves the glass on my Docter, using 172 PF loads. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> G17raider whos comp are you using? out of what material?

    Glock 17 Or 34

Whats everyone's opinion, how much comp do you need to flatten 9mm major, compaired to barrel lenght to make major? is a 4 port or more to long to go on a g 34, making to long of a gun? or would shorter comps like kkm work? if you need more of a comp then would it be better to have a glock 17 so the overall lenght of the gun isnt as long?
  19. Thanks this information will save me some time and money
  20. I have read every thread on every forum that i could find with google on custom glocks, I have been out of competition for 13 years and I am going to start up again. I am going to build a 9mm major open gun on my G 34. Thats the easy part. Now, I have read about lightening the trigger can cause soft striker problems, mounting a optic on a rail can cause ejection problems, if you buy a slide mounted optic they wont last, some people have said to keep the comp light, (my guess would be to reduce nose weight) and there is so much out there now I dont know which way to go. So a couple of questions that are still bugging me. Comp and barrel, for shooting 9mm major I want to stay away from the ported barrels and go with a comp, I have found several to choose from. for 9mm major I do I need a lot more ports? more is better? or would the KKM 4 port barrel kit do as good as anything else? Trigger, there are quite a few guys out there will put a custom trigger in for a few bucks and get anywhere from 1.5 to 3.5 lb results. are there drawbacks to doing this? I own a aimpoint, like the sight picture of a c more and like the slide mount feature of a the doctor optics, I am nervous about a high mount with the aimpoint and c more, but I am nervous about the reliability of the slide mounted optics. The thing that I need most is reliability, I know I can shoot whatever configuration that I end up with as long as I practice with it, but I am trying to eliminate the trial and error thing that I always spend my money on. Sorry for book, any wisdom from your personal experence would be appreciated.
