  1. I do as well. Plan to try it side by side with an identical gun and make comparisons like carrier weight in vs removed, extra wave spring at back of tube, etc. Will post my findings and opinions of my teammate and myself.
  2. Damn. Good price. I bought one a few weeks ago without the full top rail. Might have grabbed this one and saved $80. I am really impressed with the performance for the money. Runs 100%.
  3. Taccom now has a short stroke upgrade kit. Have one on the way. https://taccom3g.com/product/taccom-short-stroke-upgrade-kit/
  4. 1) First match with a 2011 first stage didn't download. Lesson learned. Got it on video as a reminder. 2) Cleaned all mags and reinstalled SNL's on all mags. Forgot that 2 of the SNL's were fit for the shorter SPS tubes. Failed to seat. 3) Can't draw through the lock on a Safariland 014 like you can on a CR Speed WSM II. 4) Don't be lazy and not change from worn out shoes to your trail runners. 5) Taking a little too much tension off the hammer/sear spring makes for some fast double/triple taps.
  5. Yes I am a newbie. from the guy that has been registered on here 2 months after I did.
  6. Yeah John Paul, Tim and Max are all idiots. You need to show us the way.
  7. Looks Like Taccom just boarded as well. https://taccom3g.com/product/taccom-short-stroke-upgrade-kit/
  8. Uh. I started the thread. Pretty sure about what is relative to the discussion.
  9. For simplicity sake let's say a spring takes 10#'s to compress over 10 inches. If you preload the spring 20% by inserting a 2" spacer behind it the spring is still 10# at full compression. You have not taken any weight out of the spring. It does not increase or decrease the recoil at all. That is a physics equation. It is the same amount of energy just realized differently. Short-stroking changes the recoil impulse to to a faster, sharper, shorter impulse rather than a slower, duller, longer impulse. Some shooters will prefer the former while some will prefer the latter. This has been hashed over in the automotive suspension world.
  10. Whole package with Speed Hammer on both. Everyone I know that tried it with the mil spec hammer ordered the speed hammer right after. I know triggers are subjective but I have yet to find one I like better. The only one I have found that is close is the Timney Calvin Elite. My teammate has one and it fells like nearly the same break/reset but at a substantial cost increase. He runs it in a 223 he has a JP in his PCC.
  11. A spacer is not reducing the action of the spring. It is pre-loading it. The same amount of resistance is still there it is just being applied over a shorter difference. It simply increases the initial resistance the bolt must overcome before it can move rearward. The same amount of resistance is still there it is just being applied over a shorter difference. It has ZERO effect on the max compression weight of the spring. Since the spring in my system never goes solid whether I use a spacer of not I am not losing anything.
  12. I don't have mine set for minimum cycling as I get bumpfires if I do. Short stroking starts the bolt forward faster giving the barrel less time to rise per se before the bolt mass brings it back down. I tried my same setup with the bolt weight removed and got more dot movement so I put it back in. Again I am not sure if the Taccom 3 stage is helping more so than just the shear weight of it. With a PSA heavy weight buffer, which is slightly lighter, short stroked I get similar results. Feel is very subjective so you have to match to your shooting style. With my limited gun I like a slower recoil impulse I get from 180gr 40's vs the faster, sharper impulse from 165gr bullets. Gives me time to resettle the sights. With a dot I like the opposite.
  13. That is the issue I was having. Good to know the cause. PCC gets really dirty quickly. Going to run the JP for a while and see what happens. Plus now my teammate and I are now running identical setups in case one of ours goes down.
  14. Unloaded start position is bolt forward hammer down.
  15. I actually have one of each. Standard has an adjustment for pretravel though I don't really notice a difference between the two.
  16. Hammers up close especially where you are not having to aim there won't be measurable difference. Its shots where you actually need to aim. Less dot movement means faster aimed follow up shot.
  17. You need to look at a Taccom 3 stage buffer and it will make more sense. It is longer than a carbine buffer and has a spring inside that pushes against a "piston" on either end. Yes the buffer hits back of the tube faster but it also returns to battery faster. Even with my spacer the spring does not go solid due the collapsed length of the buffer. The additional weight even compared to a PSA heavy buffer also helps.
  18. This is why I moved away from a race holsters to kydex hopsters. Plus my sponsor only makes kydex. They do make some cool Open Class kydex for those that want the extra peace of mind. Check out Windfall Defense Custom Kydex.
  19. I have the Taccom 3 stage with reduced power rifle spring it comes with I have a plastic spacer and right now 4 quarters taking up about an inch. If I go much shorter it is really easy to bump fire a short burst if you go light with your grip. Since my son is also shooting this I want to avoid that. Originally I thought it was maybe the way short stroking interacts with the Hiperfire Trigger but it happens with the JP also but not as easily due to the more solid "wall" on the JP trigger break. Recoil is sharp but short lived and the dot recovers faster than just the 3 stage alone.
  20. There are plenty of videos of short stroked AR9's. They are not breaking ground here they have just signed on with what most people have figured out, short stroke improves function and decreases cycling time. How it feels is subjective but I have tested several hundred rounds the last 2 weeks with various combinations and I am getting faster recovery with a short-stroked setup than with anything else I have tried. I have also found that short-stroking a regular buffer system is more effective than not short-stroking a Taccom 3 stage. I currently have the 3 Stage short stroked.
  21. I just pulled my new Hiperfire 24 3G/Reflex out and replaced with a JP. I don't have the EZ I have the regular JP adjustable and not the Armagedon as I like curved triggers. I run the JP in my 3 Gun rifle so they feel the same. As far as the mechanics go the Hiperfire has just a touch of creep and a longer reset. The JP has a solid wall and breaks like glass. The Hyperfire is a nice trigger butt the JP is much nicer in my opinion.
  22. Found a round chunk of plastic laying around the shop. Tried quarters but been been turning them concave. Feel sorry for the vending repair guy that is going to have to fish them out of a machine.
