  1. Matt1911, I feel pretty comfortable with the 322, but not so much with the red dot. I need to get used to finding the red dot while shooting before I frustrate myself at a match. But, I'll start practicing with it and shoot it at a match in the near future. Thanks.
  2. dtuns, see the video I posted above. I had the same problem until I watched it. The magazines are very fussy, but they do work if you load them exactly as Phil Strader says.
  3. Congratulations, Matt1911. I'm anxious to try it at a Steel Challenge. I'm going to shoot a match this Sunday but, after a 3-1/2 month layoff from shooting, I think I'll stick to my Walther with iron sights for this one. I'm a lot more familiar with it. I may try the Sig with the red dot next month.
  4. Sounds like uncoated lead is the main issue. I have shot waxed lead bullets and they worked fine. I have a bunch of Norma Tac22 that I'm anxious to try. It is heavily oiled. I'll have to see how much of the oil wipes off while I'm loading them in the magazine. Has anyone tested these?
  5. erwos, I also had some failures until I watched this video from Phil Strader of Sig. Not sure if that's your issue or if you're already aware of it.
  6. Has anyone shot a Steel Challenge match with it yet? How did you do? I'm anxious to try it. Unfortunately, I've been on injured reserve the last two months and probably for the near future.
  7. I have a Shadow 2 airsoft that pretty much duplicates the weight and feel of my actual Shadow 2, except for the lighter recoil of course (although the slide operates and gives some indication of recoil. It's CO2 operated. I shoot it in my bedroom at a distance of about 5 yards. 5-shot 3/4" groups are the norm.
  8. I also have the Holosun 407K on mine. Never shot it with the iron sights. Tried about 6 different types of ammo. The only one that gave me issues was a very light target load that didn't always eject. Another target load worked just fine. Accuracy was good with all loads. As Cuz said, I wish it were a little heavier. The sights rise up a little more than I would like. I can actually shoot my Walther PPQ 22LR with iron sights faster. It may just be a matter of getting used to the red dot. Careful loading of the magazine is critical. If loaded correctly, it's very reliable.
  9. Unfortunately, Centerfire Pistol includes Carry Optics and Open. So, it really doesn't narrow it down enough. Is there another way to combine just Production, Single Stack, and Limited?
  10. I usually shoot Production, but have shot Single Stack and Limited just to shoot different guns. I have to admit that they are all pretty similar. Production gives up a little to the other two because of the trigger, but it's not much. When I check the scores, I compare myself to all three categories. I don't mind keeping all three, but it would be a nice feature if Practiscore could have a category for Iron Sight Pistol to make checking easier.

I also didn't care for the sights and went for the Holosun 407K X2. I'm happy with that.
  12. I agree with the magazine capacity change for Production. Carry Optics was championed as a Carry (or Production) gun with an optic sight. So why have a different magazine capacity?
  13. Like I said, "I'm in it for the fun and the experience as much as the competition." I'm still competitive and there are often at least a few shooters in any category. It's nice to have a comparison so I know how well I'm doing. Comparing myself to Open wouldn't tell me much.
  14. I agree with the changes Obsessive Shooter suggests. I don't see them creating a significant advantage and it would allow more shooters to try Single Stack. I also don't want to see any of the categories go away. I love Production, except for the magazine capacity limitation. I also like to shoot Revolver, Single Stack, Limited, and Limited 10 occasionally. I don't even care if I'm the only shooter in the category. I'm in it for the fun and the experience as much as the competition. It doesn't hurt to have these categories. There's really no extra work involved since all the scoring is computerized anyway. If these categories keep more shooters in USPSA, great.
  15. I did some experimenting yesterday. I shot my 125 gr handloads, my 147 gr handloads, Eley 124 gr, and Syntech 150 gr. All around 130-135 PF. Shot with a Shadow 2 with an 11 lb recoil spring and a Shadow 2 with a 12 lb recoil spring. In all cases, I liked my handloads the best, the 147 gr a little better than the 125 gr. But the factory loads were pretty good too. I think I liked the Eley's a little better than the Syntech's, but very close. I'm sure it will vary with your gun and your technique. With the current primer situation, I'll be shooting the factory loads for a while. Both my handloads and the Eley 124's liked the 11 lb spring best and the Syntech 150's liked the 12 lb spring. One thing to watch out for is that the Eley's are loaded pretty long. I have a Shadow 2 that wouldn't completely go into battery every time with them; so barrel drop test them before shooting in a CZ.
  16. I use 7 of the DAA Racer pouches because they came as a set. I usually only fill 5 of them (plus a starter mag in my pocket). I go bullets forward and don't have much difficulty grabbing the last one. If I used the last two (of the seven), they would be a little difficult to grab, but not impossible.

    P322 magazine capacity

By the way, tested it at the range today - worked perfectly.

    P322 magazine capacity

A very subtle difference from what I was doing, but it worked. Thanks!
  19. I splurged on a pair of Pro Ears Gold for the super fast response time. But, in the end, I ended up just calling my shots. The Pro Ears are very good muffs and they do help in deadening the noise from nearby Open shooters.
  20. By the way, that's for RFPI.
  21. I've had good luck with CCI Mini-Mags, Aguila Super Extra High Velocity, Eley Force, and Eley Contact. I'm currently using the Aguila for practice and the Contact for matches.
  22. How many rounds are you actually getting in your P322 magazines? My buddy and I each have a P322 and we are both limited to 18 rounds using the loading tool. And, yes, we are very careful to stagger the cartridges. I also confirmed they were staggered through the slot on the side of the magazine. When the button is pushed all the way down by the reloading tool, 18 is the limit. I can force a 19th round by pushing very hard on the last round, but then it always jams when you fire the first shot. I wonder if Sig had different runs of magazines and some are defective.
  23. Ordered several parts for my Shadow 2 Optics Ready from various suppliers. The plate from CZ Parts actually arrived first.
  24. I was shooting the boxed ammo (50 round boxes) and never had an issue. I shot some bulk ammo (500 round box) and had a few issues after several rounds. I found that on a hot day the wax from the bullets was getting on the shell casings and could eventually gum up the chamber. Now I only take the 50 round boxes to a match. I've started saving the boxes to transfer the bulk ammo to. I think the bulk ammo is okay until it sits out in the heat during a match.

    Slide Stops

Never had one break, but I carry a spare. When I clean the gun, I make sure to clean the holes the slide stop goes through and put a big glop of lube on the slide stop.
