  1. Looks good, but why would they put the KeyMod holes backwards?
  2. Lots of options out there to suit everyone's particular tastes, and lot's that deserve a look before you make a choice. Right now, I am absolutely loving my ALG Defense EMR V2! Gotta be about the best value going. I am running the 15" version, and I think it was like $165 if I recall. Has a fantastic mounting system, feels great in hand at 1.75" OD, and has m-lok slots at 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 o'clock for lots of options to stick on rail sections or accessories if you do ever want to mount anything. I also like that the top has a short picatinny section there at the end of the rail to mount a front sight, but absent from the rest for a more comfortable grip as far as thumb placement goes.
  3. Ok, maybe this is a silly rookie issue, I don't know. I have searched the site and the web in general and cannot find any info on my problem... I recently developed an issue with my hiperfire 24c where I am missing the reset when trying to quickly double tap the short range stuff during practice... I know this is a shooter error type issue, not a mechanical issue, but I am having a very hard time overcoming it. Luckily, it hadn't happened on the clock until this weekend. Three times during a match yesterday I got one boom and then nothing on the second pull, causing what feels like a huge delay while I mentally processed the situation and then reset the trigger for a third pull. What do I need to work on to get myself past this? I hate to ask for help on something that seems like it should be so simple to figure out, but it has been happening off and on for about a month now and I just can't seem to beat it.
  4. I have one of these I leave mounted on a short offset rail section. I throw it on for night matches. So far so good, and boy is it ever BRIGHT on high! http://www.amazon.com/Olight-M22-flashlight-EdisonBright-Manufacturer/dp/B00BSHBCNS
  5. I have the VG6 Epsilon on my latest build. It is pretty effective, and a great all around device, but obviously not as effective as something like the JP brakes, Jerry Michulek, Armalite, etc. That said, in one of the tests on youtube where they compared a bunch of brakes, the Gamma performed better than the Epsilon, IIRC. The test I saw only measured linear recoil reduction though... I have no experience at all with the YHM part, so I guess I really have no tangible value to add to the conversation about which of the two is better. Based on the looks of the designs I would assume the Gamma to do a much better job, but what do I know?
  6. All I am saying is I better stick to a carbine gas system, lol.
  7. What are yall using for mounts on this budget priced optic? Warne X-skel gen 2. Seems solid and as a bonus Warne supports the sport. Picked up a second one off the RM3G prize table. I have the 3" offset from Vortex. It is well made and works great. I think the 2" would have also worked, but I didn't want to have the scope mount as far forward as I have seen some others. Are these the rebranded ADM mounts? I have several of those. They are great! Anybody else rocking the new Samson DMR. Samson is a huge supporter of 3-gun which I like. My 10% discount code puts them around $135 at Optics Planet. That's about the cheapest I've seen for a ADM/LaRue quality QD mount. http://www.opticsplanet.com/sam-dmr30-0-dmr-30mm-mount-0-offset.html Looks like a nice mount, especially for the price. It looks like O.P. doesn't carry the 3" model you have pictured though... At least I can't find it on their site.
  8. Trigger mechanism doesn't know if it's a dry fire or not... If there are shells in the tube, one should drop when you press the trigger, in preparation to be chambered.
  9. Not sure I understand the problem. Pulling the trigger should drop a shell onto the lifter getting it ready to chamber as the gun cycles...
  10. I am by no means an expert, but as I understand it, basically.... When you fire, the mass of the bolt moving forward against the rest of the mass of the gun coming back will load the inertia spring, which then cycles the gun. The lighter the bolt, the less it will load the spring, meaning less energy in the spring then to cycle the bolt.
  11. http://www.midwestgunworks.com/page/mgwi/ctgy/stoeger-m3500-parts A little hint...an M3500 lifter trimmed works really well in a friends M3000. No to highjack the thread, but thanks for that link! The last time I took my M3000 apart to refine my original port work, I managed to loose the carrier pin retainer. This is the first place I have seen that had one. Not a huge issue really. I twisted a small wire tightly in the groove around the pin and then folded it back and forth as needed as I tucked it down into the slot for the retainer. It's been a non issue for 500-600 rds, but it will be nice to know it's back together properly.
  12. I'm a huge fan of the American Defense "recon" mount... These ones are the 20MOA model, and I think it should clear from the looks of your pic, plus they do make an even more extended version
  13. Thanks guys! The GovTec ones look good to me, I like the idea of them threading in as well, and not relying solely on epoxy. Not that I don't think a good epoxy can handle the job, but a little extra piece of mind is always a good thing..
  14. What is everyone doing for sling attachment with the Luth-AR stocks? I've not had any luck finding info on the subject, beyond the suggestion from Luth-AR to epoxy in some Uncle Mike's sockets, but I can't even seem to find those anywhere...
  15. Just to update... I actually broke a couple of roll pins trying to make them go this afternoon, then finally did as suggested and grabbed a tiny file. I worked it into the slot of the pin as best I could and shaved it down a bit. Pinched the pin back together and drove it in without too much issue. It still went plenty hard the last little bit, but it is in there. I guess the roll pin hole just must be a fuzz undersized... Thankfully, I was able to get the rifle working and shoot it a bit today to prepare for tomorrows match. On the plus side, it seems to shoot VERY well from the ~50 rds I put through it, so things are looking up!
  16. Thanks for the replies guys. I don't know why I didn't think to try it without the tube. Tried it now, and it was still a no go. Goes in one side, no prob, snug of course, but nothing seems too tight by any means, and still once it gets going into the other side it just stops, and absolutely will not go any farther. Same story no matter which side I start on... Looks like it is centered just fine in the hole, it just won't go all the way. I'm guessing the hole has to be a little undersized and it is just binding up the pin too much... Not a happy camper right now with a match to shoot this weekend that I wanted to run the new rifle in. Needed to be able to hit the range with it tomorrow.
  17. I am just finishing a new build and have an issue I haven't run into before... Trying to install the roll pin in the gas block/tube, and it will not drive in all the way. It will go into the first side of the block and then through the tube without issue until it starts into the far side of the block. I figured there must have been a small burr or the hole was a touch tight on the far side, so I took it back apart and when I didn't see an issue I tried to put the pin again, but starting on the side that it hung up on... Same story. it went through that side of the block, the tube, and hung up when it got to the other side... Now I am wondering if the holes on each side are not lined up properly. This seems unlikely to me, since I'd image they are likely drilled straight through in one operation during manufacture. Not sure what else to think... Maybe the holes are both just slightly tight, causing binding when the pin gets to far in?? Anyone seen this issue before? I think I see a different block in my future.
  18. I am in the middle of a 3 gun build myself. I just got my ALG EMR v2 rail and I am glad I went with it. The diameter is perfect for a comfortable grip, and the looks/fit & finish are outstanding. There are rails out there that will save a couple oz. over this one, and I nearly went for the BCM KMR for weight savings, but I think the ALG was the right choice for me... I am still undecided on a barrel myself... I am considering giving the Rise Armament 18" fluted barrel a shot, but there isn't much info out there from anyone who has used it. I am mainly up in the air between the one from Rise, and the Nordic. Of course there is also the Stretch 16, and lots of others to consider as well. Black Hole Weaponry has a 20% off sale going on until the end of July also, which is a hard one to pass up.
  19. Got brave this evening and chopped my stock. I didn't measure exactly, but I removed about 3/4-7/8". Went shopping quick with the piece I chopped off so I could get an approximate estimate on fit for a new recoil pad. I don't have the tools or desire to properly fit a grind to fit pad, so I was hoping for something that would be very close out of the package. I came home with a Limbsaver Airtech, no.10807. I had to notch the screw holes in the base plate of the pad a little more, as well as drill the screw holes deeper in the stock, but it fits pretty darn well. I don't think I am going to do any additional fitting. There is a very slight edge around the sides and bottom with the top set flush, but it seems plenty good for a gun I will just abuse at 3 gun matches. Can't wait to put some rounds through the gun now and feel what the difference is. I'm sure this pad will eat a lot of the recoil, and the new shorter length of pull feels excellent. The new pad is thicker than the factory one, but overall the length is right about 1/2" shorter. adamriser, great review of the gun! Nice to hear the long term experiences. Also, great video!! Tom, I don't know you, but I'm loving your parts! I'm glad that you're giving some aftermarket support to these guns. With your stuff on the market, this gun is the best option going right now for the casual level shooter like myself that doesn't want to dump anymore money than I have to into the game. Very sorry to hear you are having health issues... I hope the good days outweigh the bad!
  20. Well, the new M3000 ran flawlessly yesterday, but I made too many other mistakes for that to matter. Best part of the day was when I got home and found my package from MOA waiting for me. I threw the +6 tube on with the MOA nut and follower, and swapped out the bolt handle and safety. I didn't do the bolt release yet since I seem to have lost track of all my small taps. I'll have to pick one up so I can get that on there too. all the MOA stuff is great! Love the bolt handle, and the way it rotates freely. The safety is a huge HUGE improvement over stock for ease of use, and it looks great too! The follower is super smooth and glides down the tube much better than the factory part. Thanks MOA!!!
  21. Just picked up my 26" M3000 on Monday. I've been wanting to pick one up for a while. It meets my expectations well for a gun in this price range! Pumped about 200 rounds down the pipe through the week. Took the dremel to the loading port, and polished the tube where the action rides. I also stuck a hi-vis sight on it already and grabbed a couple Carlson extended chokes. I ordered some stuff from MOA earlier in the week. Double sided safety, follower, bolt handle, bolt release and a +6 extension. I want to use the gun in a club match tomorrow, so just for now I borrowed a Carlson nova/supernova extension that a buddy of mine had laying around. I threw it on there tonight. Had to take the unthreaded part off the tube since the thing left about 1/8" play in the barrel, but other than the tube bottoming out, the threads fit together perfectly(serial 1362***). It's not the best looking option, but it gets me 7 in the tube, so 9 total with a ghost load. I found it points best for me with the 65* shim in the stock, but I still need to hack a little off the stock one of these days and put a cushier recoil pad on. Very happy with my purchase, and I appreciate all of you that contributed to this thread and put up all the youtube vids, etc. Very helpful info!!!
