  1. Welcome to new endeavors in ICORE. I am happy to see another club stepping into the sport to make it available to more shooters. I started last year as MD for Silver Creek in Southern IN, and its been a lot of fun so far, with some bumps (learnign experience) along the way. I wish you the best of luck this fall as you start and hope that you will have as much fun as we have had and I hope you have a good amount of participation. If there's some way that I can be of help, let me know. Like I said, I had some learning experiences over the past year, mostly from making mistakes that I am willing to share in hopes that others can avoid doing them in the future.
  2. Alright guys, I know I am a little late getting the announcement out, I’ve been quite busy lately, but here it is. This will be the last ICORE match for this year at Silver Creek, I would like to do one in Oct, but it will conflict with too much stuff and I will be heading to the IRC a week later. I appreciate everybody who has come out to shoot with us, it has been a fun year and we have had some good turnouts. I am also greatly appreciative of those who have helped to make the matches possible (set up help, ROs, tear down, people who brought ice/water/coolers); it wouldn’t have been possible without the good help of these people. I hope that we will continue to get the support we have had and hope that we gain some more participants next year. So for the last match, I thought we would just have some fun and make it a nice fast pace match. I am going to do probably 2 steel challenge type stages, possibly 3 (we’ll see how set up goes; may also be substituted with a field course). We are going to have 4 classifiers for the match if anybody wants to get classifications in for the last time this year. Classifiers: CS-006 El Prez, CS-019 Damm Dem Feruns, CS-023 Stop the Insanity, and CS-025 Run Billy, Run Bill, Run William. Possible total minimum round count will be 153 (it may be less than that if we only do 2 steel challenge stages). Match Fees: $15 for non-members, $10 for club members, $5 for MIL/LE/FIRE/EMS. If you want classifier scores submitted please bring $2 per classifier in addition to match fees. ROs will shoot free. Setup: I am going to be setting up the night before (evening 6-7ish) and the morning of the match. If anybody is willing to help, email me at icorestu@gmail.com. Registration will start at 9am in the clubhouse, range meeting at 9:45am, and match to start at 10am. I am going to allow people to shoot outlaw at this match for those who want to come out and shoot a semi-auto and see what ICORE is all about.
  3. Here's the scores for this month's ICORE match. Had a good time shooting with everybody, it was nice having a little smaller match this time and not having to suffer the heat all day. Thanks to all who helped setting up and helping the match run smoothly. http://silvercreekcc.org/files/2016/08/ICORE-SCORES-7_31_16.pdf
  4. Forgot to add in the post. Last minute set up/ target placement will be at 8 Sunday morning, registration is at 9 am in the clubhouse, shooter's meeting at 9:45 and shooting to begin at 10.
  5. For those who are unaware of what the Postal Match is, here is a breif explanation of it. It is a series of stages designed by the ICORE home organization and are designed to be able to allow any affiliated club to be able to shoot without the need for lots of equipment (steel). It is paper only match, all clubs set up the stages the same way and submit their scores to be tabulated and the scores are published. It is a means to compete in a single match across the entire organization, without having to travel a long ways (such as you would have for a regional or national championship). The other benefit of this match is that it can be shot in Rimfire Division also. It is supposed to be a means to introduce people to ICORE without requiring a lot of gear initially. Also, since the IPM allows for Rimfire Division, so will the steel challenge stages. So if any compeitior wants to shoot the entire match with in Rimfire Division, they are welcome to do so. For those wishing to shoot Rimfire Division and may not have a holster, many of us have extra and if you ask ahead of time we can bring it out for you to use. The other option is to shoot from ready position for Rimfire Division. Please make sure you have enough speedloaders for the stages also.
  6. First off, I know that this is not going to be the 4th Sunday of the month like usual, for some reason I had the calendar marked wrong and I am unable to move things around to get it set up the 24th. Second, last match was a bear of a match and we had some difficulties that were created because of mistakes on my part. Without delving too far into that, I am aiming for a smaller match, still plenty of shooting involved, but less complicated and a LOT less steel to haul around. For this match we are going to be shooting the ICORE International Postal Match which will cover about 126 rounds minimum across 4 stages. The scoring will be done with the score sheets they provide and we will be submitting those to ICORE for those who want to have their scores posted for the IPM. We are also going to shoot 2 steel challenge stages; Showdown and Speed Option, which will acount for 50 rounds minimum. So the total minimum round count will be 176. We will be setting up the Saturday before the match (the 30th) and any help is appreciated. Match fees are as they usually are, $15 for non-club members, $10 for club members, $5 for MIL/LE/FIRE/EMS. Anybody willing to help set up or RO will shoot free. Any questions post here, or email me at icorestu@gmail.com
  7. I have been shooting the X-treme plated for a while now and I really like the performance I have gotten out of them, however, the RNFP 158s have a little issue where they occasionally have hit the extractor start perfectly and skip a little and get sideways. I am going to try some of the 160gr RN coated bullets for 38spl and see if that fixes the issue with skipping that I have had. I have tried them in 38SC and have worked pretty well. I need to get more clips to run the 38SC because the ones I have don't hold them tight enough.
  8. I also need to issue an apology to M. Shaw as I looked at the scores again today, I must have missed it on the sort, but you should have been at the top of the list for Limited Division. Also I wanted to add, that I have the classifiers pulled out of the packets and I am going to get a check to send the classifiers in to ICORE as soon as possible so that the classifications will hopefully be posted in July.
  9. Here's the scores for this month's match. Thanks to all who came out to help set up the day before the match, it was much appreciated and thanks to all the guys who came out to shoot outlaw and see what ICORE is about. I hope that you all had fun and hopefully we may have generated a little more interest for revolver. I think I'll continue to allow outlaw division so long as it doesn't end up being mostly semi-auto shooters. http://silvercreekcc.org/files/2016/06/ICORE-SCORES-6_26_16.pdf
  10. Quick change being made to the match. As of this moment I have no idea how many we are expecting at the match, and a lot of guys have been asking to shoot outlaw division, so I made the decision to give Outlaw a try. I don't want semi-autos to have an easy time so I am going to lay out two options and we will decide which way to go at the meeting before the match 9:30 Sunday morning. Option #1: Any shooter shooting outlaw division will receive an automatic 35 sec penalty added to their scores and will be require to only have 8 rounds in the gun at any time (no 8+1); so start mag with 8 rounds and shoot til empty, or 8 rounds in start mag, keep one in chamber and 7 rounds in remaining mags. The reason for this is to simulate the same amount of ammunition that would be in an 8 shot revolver. Option #2: Any shooter shooting outlaw division wil receive an automatic 80 sec penalty added to their scores and will follow the same rules as USPSA Production division regarding magazine capacity (10 rounds in the magazines). I want to encourage those who are shooting Outlaw to see what ICORE is about and maybe win a few folks over the fun of wheelguns.
  11. Some of the more recent ones we've had come in are pretty solid, definitely would need action work done. The barrels seem to clocked properly, machining has been solid, without pulling out gauges there's nothing that I could see wrong with most of them (PC627, V-Comp, & 929).
  12. I would be tempted to come shoot a match like that, and could probably get some of the other IN & KY guys to roll with me to shoot it. How much revolver do you see being shot at your local USPSA/IDPA matches? If you can get those guys on board, then you could probably get a better pull from other states as well.
  13. Quick reminder guys, the match is a week from today. If you are willing/ able to help set up on Sat, it would be appreciated, and you'll shoot the match free. If anybody wants to come help let me know icorestu@gmail.com , otherwise I hope to see some of you guys at the match.
  14. Currently all I shoot is revolver, mainly because all I have time for is ICORE. However, I would probably still be more likely to shoot revolver in either USPSA or IDPA just because I like shooting them more than my semi-autos.
  15. Alright guys, here’s the plan for the match this month. We have a lot of our regular shooters who might actually make it to a club match this month as they don’t have commitments elsewhere. A few guys haven’t gotten classified yet, so I am running 4 classifiers so that they can get some scores submitted. Classifiers: CS-009 How Fast Are You?, CS-016 Side to Side, CS-024 Boxes and Barricades, & CS-031 Line Up and Take Sides. We will also be running two steel challenge stages; Smoke & Hope and Five to Go; as well as three field courses, two of which are X-count and one is Par Time. Total minimum round count is 210 rounds across 9 stages. As usual, match fees are $15 for non-members, $10 for club members, $5 for LE/MIL/FIRE/EMS. Bring $2 per classifier in addition to match fees if you want to have classifier scores submitted to ICORE. We could use people to help set up the Saturday before the match as well as tear down after the match. For those willing to help, they shoot the match free, as well as those who are willing to RO. I am bringing out a large cooler with ice and water as it will most likely be hot. If you want to bring additional drinks (Gatorade) and want them to stay cold, there will be room in the cooler, put your name on them. Match is Sunday morning; last minute set up starts at 8, registration starts at 9 in the clubhouse, and match to start at 10. I look forward to seeing you all out there, if you are willing to help set up/ tear down, email me at icorestu@gmail.com .
  16. Just get the muffs that fit behind your neck. Then you can still wear your cowboy hat. I think Peltor makes them. Yep they to, the tactical 6s and I think the tactical sports are both offered in behind the head/neck bands. To the OP, welcome to the dark (and better) side of shooting sports. People may not understand us for shooting wheelguns, but wheelgun shooters are the sort that look after one another and IMO are some of the best people I have had the pleasure of shooting with.
  17. Limited-6? I haven't signed up, but I might. Sounds like a good roadtrip. You definitely should man. We were trying to get Dan to come also, but its not looking positive. I don't know if Paul is going or not, I haven't had a chance to talk to him yet. Squad 30 for the IN crowd. You're welcome to join our squad. Slusher was planning to go and was going to sqaud with somebody else, but that one filled up, so he's shooting with us. He was at the first ICORE I put on and the most recent one. He usually shoots open, but he also ran the classifiers in limited at the last match.
  18. Some of the other guys from IN are camping out on squad Dirty30 if you want to shoot with us and they'll let you move, just an FYI.
  19. We want it to happen, does that count? I think we need to get the MDs together, iron out when/where to hold it, and get this ball rolling for next year. If we want to bring out a lot of shooters, they need time to know about it and we need to have the resources (prizes & sponsors) that will make them want to come shoot this match. I have not doubt that we can get plenty of shooters out for the match, but this year, you have the MCC two weeks before IRC, and I can't see us pulling a lot of shooters between those two weeks.
  20. Alright guys here are the scores for yesterdays match. http://silvercreekcc.org/files/2016/05/ICORE-SCORES-5_29_16.pdf Hopalong, it was a pleasure having you shooting with us on a hot, muggy day. Thanks for your help throughout the day with pasting, painting, scoring and whatnot, it definitely helps to make the matches go smoother with good people helping. I wish more of out local guys had been out for the match, but a lot of them were playing up at the Buckeye Blast. We would love to have you back, whenever you can make it, and like I said, I'll try to spread the word about the MCC for you. Also I figure that since I am taking a couple days to do these matches, I want to get plenty of shooting in. Much appreciation for all those who came out to shoot with us, and I welcome any who want to come in the future. I am trying to hold matches montly on the 4th Sunday of the month, this month's was pushed due to the NRA Annual Meeting being in town.
  21. That'd be a tall order to get that done by October, especially with regards to getting match sponsors as well as prize table stuff. Most everybody is likely to have committed all they can for the year for sponsorships and prize donations. Aside from the trouble of getting everything organized and prepared (club, stages, staff) we would need to make certain it won't conflict with another match that would draw other revolver shooters away. I am not opposed to looking into it, but I think we are way behind if we wanted to get this match off the ground this year.
  22. I think if we want to get this ball rolling for next year we should get the MDs together sometime and figure out a game plan. I see no issue with letting the squads RO themselves, which is what we do at the matches anyway. Most of our guys have a fair amount of experience with the sport and could handle ROing a squad.
  23. Registration will start at 9, we will be out making final set up around 8. Match to start at 10 after a brief safety meeting and squadding.
  24. I can only guarantee second to last, there is one guy that has shot with us who usually likes to anchor there. He claims that its his rightful place at any match. Glad to hear more people are coming out.
  25. I personally don't mind some of the classifiers. There are some really good technical stages available. SHO, WHO strings, changing how many rounds go on some targets (Twos and Threes CS-013), changing which targets you engage (Phoenix Triangle CS-022. Tight Squeeze CS-032 is always fun, people think that because its so close that they could easily not shoot the hardcover or the no-shoots. I think that classifiers help play a role in the development for some shooters. They force the shooter to do more, use their brain more during a stage, than they might be used to doing. Growth comes from being challenged, and I think that the classifiers bring some challenges to a match that some stage designers might not have considered in their stages. That being said, I like shooting more than just the classifiers. I like shooting some of the steel challenge stages and the Pro Am style stages as well as challenging field courses.
