  1. Hi All: Is Bob at North Mountain's site 4wheelguns.com? I suggested to him many years ago to design the "Fat Boy" moon clip holder and showed him a prototype. It looks like it is now called the "Full Figured" holder. I broke a post holder on mine today I wanted to get hold of him and see if I could get just the Kydex to fix it. Any contact info for Bob? Thanks Another Bob
  2. Hi All: I just wanted to let everyone know that our match was very successful. We had 63 pre-registed shooters and only lost a few of those (the registrations not fatalities). We had enough sponsors to get a prize in the hands of every classified ICORE member that shot. Thank you sponsors. We had 8 stages that ranged from a simple classifier to very complex stages including a Polish Plate Rack. The first shots were fired at 9 AM and most everyone was being fed lunch by 1 PM. The minimum round count was 168. The tempature got up to 72*. Awards and prizes were handed out and the range was pretty empty by 2:30. Thanks to the long haulers for showing up. I think you'll agree it was was worth the trip. The Southern Regionals will be held at the Volusia County Gun and Hunt Club November 7th. That is about an hour north of Orlando and most of the staff that ran the State Match will also be staffing the Regionals so I'm sure it will be a good match. Thanks to all the shooters that came and I hope to see many of you at the Regionals. Bob Hunt ICORE Disipline Director for Central Florida Wheelgunners
  3. I have a seating/crimping die in my third stage on my 550 and I use a sizing die in the last stage so it gets rid of the bulge and they all drop in great. I load up my Hearthco clips and drop them in an 8 shot sizing cylinder. If they don't drop in perfect the first time, I just give them a little tap, remove and drop back in for a good fit.
  4. Hi All: I took a few years off from shooting but now I am getting back into it. I forgot how much fun it was. Can some one point me to threads with load info for Colt Short. I use Starline Nickel plated brass and I think I will go with Billy Bullets 160. I have 12 lbs of Ramshot Silhouette that I hope I can use. Presently I load 4.5 and LOA of 1.15. My shots don't seem consistent so I am sure it is the load and not my skill. I have not kept up with what is the best way to go now so advice is accepted. I do not want to shoot straight lead but I also don't want to get a second job just to buy bullets and powder. I only shoot ICORE and steel so I only need 120 PF Thanks Bob
  5. Happy Birthday Cliff Remember: Growing old is a given. Growing up is optional. Come join us in Orlando for ICORE sometime. Bob
  6. Bob now has a version for us less than petite shooters. I have been on his prototype team and he has a good solution. With the original holder I could not see the moon clips when I looked down and NO the problem was not with my neck. Henow has the "Fat Boy" model (sorry Harley-Davidson). It extends the holder out just under the 2" rule for USPSA. I have shot a few matches with it and it has helped my reload times. Now if I could get the bullets to go where I think they should go I would be doing much better.
  7. You should not feel guilty about that. You should, however, feel guilty about your lucky run on the Near and Far Standards at the IRC, and the gloating you subjected us to afterward. Oh Gee. I'd had forgoten all about that. Mr Bang Beep Bang.
  8. TomE Well I feel pretty stupid now. It can't get any more obvious than that. I can't belive I overlooked it so many times. Maybe that page is missing from my green book. Yeah. That's it the page is missing. It's on to the nylon holster. Thanks Mike Now you have made me feel guilty about shooting production. I was running an ICORE monthly match in central FL but the range got closed. I will probably join another range and start ICORE here again.
  9. I shoot revo most of the time but at this club match it seems like every array is 8 round neutral. No other revos so it takes some of the fun out of the match. I still beat a lot of bottom feeders though. Everyone tells me I need the full holster but no one has been able to show me in the rule book. I am a level one RO and I seem to have overlooked it. I have a nylon holster that was made for a M&P with a light on the bottom. I think it will be legal but if no one can show me the rule, I don't want to use.
  10. Hi All: I have been looking for the rule in USPSA about revolver holsters for Production. I have a Hogue speed holster for my 627. What rule or appendix says I can't use this this year? The 2008 Rule book clearly states no speed holsters and revolvers holsters must cover half the cylinder for Production. The picture in appendix F3 shows the position of the holster and it looks like a speed holster to me (just like the Hogue) Bob

  12. I have one. It's really good at getting you very close to flat but not perfect. It has two cones on its post. the first has angle to it and the second is almost flat. The first cone is for clips that are really bent up. It will leave the clip a bit concaved overall. the second cone will flatten the clip just about right. I hit the device with just my hand, flip the clip over and hit it again. Sometimes once is enough, other times you have to repeat the process. It takes a while to get the feel of it but it gets you close real fast. I still use small pliers for the final twist or bend and I lay the clip on the back of a small mirror. So far the diamond studs on the Hearthco clips haven't disabled it.
  13. Check the pins in the hammer to see if they may have drifted out enough to rub the side plates. I had this happen to me with a new 627
  14. I use Starline Short Colt in my 627 with the Hearthco moonclips. They work great. It may be because I have practiced a lot more, but I can reload my 627 quicker than I can my 625. (Freebies are on their way, right Dave). Dave is making some 45 GAP for Starline for me (Cliff uses those) so maybe that will speed up my 625 reloads. I use 158 Ranier bullets and they seem just fine. Good enough to win C open at the IRC. Bob
  15. Happy Birthday Cliff Remember. The waist line increases with the years. Kind of like the rings on a tree. I'll bring a cooler with some Siver Bullets to the match Saturday. It will make tearing down the stages more enjoyable. Bob
  16. Hi All: I carry a 642 in a pocket holster and a speed strip. I have never had to use it and I hope I never do. I cut a few coils off the rebound spring to make the action a little lighter. I was told by my local gunsmith that you should never modify your carry gun. He said some low life lawyer that defends dirt bags that try to kill people can turn a case against you because you have a gun that has been set up especially to kill people and that is the only reason you carry it. I'm not sure of the merit in this statement, maybe Mike can ring here as a lawyer on the good side. As far as sights go you better be able to hit your target by point shooting with one hand because you will not have a lot of time to aim with both hands and you will probably be less than 15 feet away. Don't worry about the trigger pull or the recoil. If you have to use your gun in a bad situation, there will so much adrenalin you will not feel either Bob
  17. Hi David. Pleasure to meet you at the match. You also need to cut the cylinder for moon clips. I shoot 38 Colt Short it my 627. I won C open so I guess they are not too bad. There were some threads here on loads for 38 CS that helped me determin my final load. They reload much faster than the long 38 special brass. I use Starline brass and the Hearthco moonclips with Ranier 158 plated bullets. Bob Hunt
  18. Wow. That was a fun match. I had a great time meeting a lot of you. I hung out with Cliff and Mike most of the time away from the range. Too bad we can't go back to that seafood place next year (thanks Cliff). I have already signed up to RO again next year. They have assigned me to stage 4. This one will be the St. Carmoney Sportsman stage. Start position is behind the barricade with the bronze statue of Mark on it. All kidding aside; Mike is one class act and a good sportsman not to mention a great shooter. He did bump himself up to A class and he gave up his spot in the shoot offs for someone else. Mike could have won the limited shoot off even with a six-shooter but he decided to hand it to another shooter. I have great respect for Mike and we had a lot of fun together. The reason he only qualified in B class was because he was under the guidance of Maser Walsh. This messed up his concentration for a while because there was some C class shooter that beat him on the standards. Fortunately he came to his senses and even went on to beat Cliff The biggest problem we had after the match was "Do we buy the 18 or the 30 pack" Cliff was there to help us make the right decision.
  19. I am ROing so I shoot the entire match Thursday. I will be ready to consume adult beverages Thursday night.
  20. Twister: If you loose count in IPSC it is a procedural. If you loose count in USPSA you go to Open class. Rule 6.2.5.1 as refed to by US Appendix D10. (page 99)
  21. Hi All: I finally finished my first grip. I have not seen any pictures of anybody else's so here is mine. I added extra wood on the right side so my finger pad falls on the trigger instead of the first knuckle. I also added some yellowheart and bloodwood on the bottom to mock the "Big Butt" style that Houge makes. I had Pat Houge measure my hand at the '05 IRC and he made a custom fit grip for me. After shooting with it for a while I found a few things I wanted different so here are the results. I still don't shoot well but damn do I look good when I come to the line (well, at least my gun does). I will never be the "Dremilizer" that most of us have come to know and love here on the forum because I did most of the shaping with several different diameter sanding wheels mounted on my lathe. 22. Sign up at 9 first shots at 9:30. 5 stages, should be about 130 rounds. 1 stage is a surprise stage. I can send you the other 4 if you would like. Bottom feeders welcome but see the rules on the web page http://www.roadendsrange.com/ If you are going to the Show you can be the first shooters on the last stage and leave. We do not tear down the stages because they use them for an IDPA match on Sunday. All info for both matches is on the page. We are usually done on or before noon. The convention center is about 30 minutes from the range straight up I-4 Hope to see you there Bob
  23. What is the best way to get in touch with him? I need one of his hammers
  24. First shots at 9:30. From what I have heard, I dont think I have a cooler big enough to supply you with beer.
