  1. Finally finished, had to get the wife's open gun finished first. I shortened 1.5 inches, which reduced the weight by 2.5 oz. Bowen front site base and SDM DX front site. Haven't had it to the range yet, but it points and moves faster, or that's what I tell myself. Also had TK Customs chamfer the cylinder, what a difference. Will post how it shoots after I get to the range, will take the chrono to see how much the bullet velocity changed.

  2. Sorry I wasn't very clear, but I did look up that sight base and it is .25x.25x.1.75. I just didn't look at you pictures close enough, all the info was right in plain sight. Guess I will need to get on the mill.

  3. Looking for some help on lightening a 1911 slide, I know there are cuts, holes, and some internal methods, but I am interested in how much material can be removed from the external dimensions of the slide, I wish to keep the appearance of the slide. I have found drawings with dimensions internal for a slide, but not external, anyone have any experience?

  4.   If I didn't believe that these provisional changes are being introduced to support manufactures and the sponsored side of the house, I'd almost agree with them. But when the ink is barely dry on the announcement, there are new accessories being introduced by the manufacturers to support these new provisional divisions, could be coincidence?

Divisions were setup to maintain a type of firearm to control improvement and modifications to the firearm, to bring out the shooter's ability. As the rules are changed, the race is on to see how far these new rules can be stretched, and new markets are created to satisfy this erg.

I'm not afraid of change but change for the sake of change is not always good. Pretty soon, there may be to many divisions, and not enough people in each, for the division to be recognized.

  5. I would agree with ZZT, learn how the system works, and with a little pertinence and practice, you can achieve the trigger that you like. One thing I would suggest is, if you venture down this path, invest in a good set of stones and jig (I use a Harrison Design True Radius jig), this will help in maintaining your hammer/sear alignment.

  6. The answer to your problem, if you keep the pistol, is in the second and third responses. I was achieving the same with my 929, and after a lot of research, I came to the same answer. I'm using Blue Bullets 147gr 38/357 bullets, Winchester brass, Federal small pistol primers to help with the reduced hammer strike because I reduced the trigger pull.

I am finally starting to like the 929, it's almost 100% reliable. I tried the reliable tried and true .356 9mm loads that produce great accuracy in other pistols, doesn't work in the 929. I usually shoot open, it's much easier to get a good load.

  7. No experience with DLC but have years on open pistols with Hard Chrome. Am very happy with the HC, wear is very minimal and is easy to clean. If the HD gets a small scratch, it can be buffed and removed, I've gotten over the scratches. I'm building a Limited pistol and am toying around with a DLC finish, because I want a black pistol? Have heard nothing but good about it.

  8. I've used EGW and Wilson bullet proof, both are good options. I started using Harrison Design years ago when everyone else was out of stock. My experience is, that the quality, in both appearance and function, are top notch. I like my triggers at 2.5#, and HD make this an easy process to adjust, and they hold their fit after thousands of rounds each year. Annually, I tear down and do a complete cleaning, and while I have it apart, I lightly stone the trigger and sear. My go to trigger.
