  1. First, try a metric allen from one of your tool sets, the DAA one seems a tad smaller. If the screw heads are stripped, head down to your local ACE hardware with your belt attachment and start trying sizes until you find what you are looking for. My go to for hardware. I'd bet that a good tool will solve your problem.

  2. Honestly, no, unless unless you are concerned about slide speed. If you really want to improve slide speed, you need to reduce slide weight, seems like 10 to 10.5 ounces is ideal. I have built both limited and open guns, I like a heaver slide for limited, and a lighter slide for open. I guess, it's how fast you can accurately pull the trigger. With USPSA trying to do away with Limited/Limited 10 divisions, I question why the effort to get into the division? Don't get me wrong, I truly enjoy that division.

  3. Okay guys, stop teasing me with a different cylinder/bullet? Let me get this 9mm stuff figured out. I got some 160gr Blue Bullets, want to work a load and am looking to see what you all are having luck with. Right now, I have a 147gr Blue Bullet at 1.17 oal, Crimped to .177, Federal SPP, 3.3gr Vectan 9.5(about the same as VV 320), PF 128.

    Forgot, the bullets are 38/357

  4. Okay, I have checked my loads over and am crimping a little more, .378. I don't think 1.160 is to long for oal. There is plenty of light showing through the cylinder with a light behind it showing through. I have given the thought of using a heavier bullet, got some Blue Bullet 160's, they are .040 longer, so should have a little more to hold on to. I haven't tried them yet, but soon. I am using 3.3 gr of Vectan 9.5 for the 147's( very similar to VV320). What are those of you out there using with 160 gr bullets?

  5. I'm using 9mm Win cases, Lee U-die,147gr 38/357 Blue Bullets. Crimp is a Lee factory crimp at .379/.380, oal is 1.268. I am getting some creeping out, which I was learning to deal with, thought I had this issue fixed last year, what I considered a 98/99% reliable load. What I changed this year, was I shortened the barrel 1.5" and had the cylinder chamfered, I don't think these two things are causing this issue. Guess I'll try expanding the bell and crimping some more. Will try your recommendations and shoot 4/5 and then check to see if the rounds are still growing. One last thing, has anyone experienced reloaded rounds growing after sitting for extended periods of time? I have heard of this, but associated with compressed loads, which mine are not.

  6. The round was unfired, I just used 7 rounds for the stage, this did happen on three separate occasions. My crimp I believe is good, use Blue Bullets, and when I pull one, the coating is being removed, but not all the way to the lead? I do get a slight amount of walking out of the bullet. My rounds slide into the cylinder easily, especially after having them chamfered.

  7. Okay smart guys, the latest issue with this 929. While reloading on a stage, I don't use all rounds, and when I eject the moon clip, one bullets is stuck in the throat and will not allow for a reload. The case comes out with the moon clip and powder gets into everything. I have measured all chamber/throats, have one that is a little larger by maybe a half a thou. I do not see any visible marks or protrusions for the bullet to get caught on. I have ordered a hone and will polish all the chamber/throats. Suggestions please. And no, I didn't think to take a picture.

  8. I use TK moon clips, they work better with my magnetic holders. The ones pictured above in Joe4ds' picture work, but have a tendency to fall off of the mag holder while moving through the stage.

  9. There are differences from the #1 to the #2, but wouldn't think either one would fit an IPSC box? The #1 extends from where it contacts the frame .590 thousand and the pad is .430 thousand deep and .950 thousand long. The #2 extends .780 thousand from the frame and is .580 thousand deep and .860 thousand long. Both needed to be fit to my pistols, I imagine that depends on the manufacture's specs, nothing very involved. I do have one on a limited pistol, but once again, I don't shoot IPSC. I do like them both, #2 preferred, they help to obtain a more consistent grip.

  10. I did it myself, am a machinist, used a Haas mill and fixtured it with the barrel still attached. Don't know that I'd do it that way again. I did purchase another barrel just in case I didn't like the outcome. I must say that 1911s are much easier to fixture, not as many contours to deal with. I chose 5 inch barrel just because of my 1911 experience? The 929 is pretty close to the weight of my open pistols and hope that moving and transitioning is similar, at 6.5 inches, it was harder to get in and out of ports, or around walls.
