  1. Yup, shot a whole match with his Edge and this ammo. Not a single hiccup. My mags run in his gun just fine. It happens with old or new springs and about in the middle of the ammo count in the mag.
  2. I do run the gun very well lubricated. It is always slinging oil..lol I'll go look at that mod video from Adam. I don't recall seeing that one and I thought I had watched every video of his. I already have the Dawson tune kit and the mags are tuned. They run perfectly in a friend's tuned Edge. It was one of his SV mags for that Edge that I tried in my gun that still resulted in the same failure, leading me to believe it's more than just a mag issue.
  3. Here’s a better pic of it at the breech face.
  4. It's a brand new 12lb recoil spring and the Blazers are running about 172pf. I changed the recoil spring and all the mag springs. The extractor tension is fine. I've tuned that too. This failure is not even making it to the extractor.
  5. Can’t see it in the pic but the feed ramp is polished smooth. I did try Speer Gold dots and same malfunction. OAL of the Blazer is 1.117
  6. Need suggestions for FTF. It may happen once a mag or every other mag, it’s very intermittent. This happens prior to the cartridge even reaching the extractor. Mags are STI gen 2 with TTI followers and springs and springs are brand new. Feed lip dimensions are good. Also did it with a known good SV mag. Shooting factory 180gr .40S&W Blazer ammo. I shoot that because I get all I want for free. Any suggestions on where else to look would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Yup, knew about the .385 front dimension. That's why I'm kinda shocked these came so out of spec, brand new.
  8. Just got 3 140mm mag bodies in today, along with TTI springs, followers, and base pads. During install, the follower tips sideways in the front and sticks up way too high. Got out the calipers and the feed lips are measuring .441 at the front and .377 at the rear. Anyone else have their mags come in like this?
  9. With the right tools, research, and taking your time, it was challenging but doable. Matt at CK Arms was very patient and helpful with a bunch of questions I had during the build.
  10. Life and a buying a new house delayed things a bit. It's now finished and I couldn't be happier. I'll be shooting it at the Northern Arizona Classic in a couple of weeks.
  11. The 5" Unique slide I just used on my build has the same gap. No issues.
  12. Success. Fully fitted and functional. Will shoot a few hundred rounds through it, then do the final blending and send it off for finishing.
  13. Yes I am. I'm really looking forward to it.
  14. Don't over look Colt's new competition 1911's in 9mm and .45. I have one in .45 and after a little tweaking, I've been very pleased with it. It's the gun I'll be shooting my first Level II SS match with next month.
  15. Fit the Barrel hood. Ended up putting it in the mill for the back side. Filed the Upper rear locking lug channel on the sides to get the .045 lock up. Cut the lower lugs then filed the final contour so the pin traveled freely Milled a little off the barrel shelf to eliminate the barrel ramp from rubbing too much. It was very slow process. Take a little off and check, over and over again, until that moment it all just started functioning together. All that was in conjunction with finding the right size link pin to make it all work harmoniously. Now I have barrel that locks up tight as a drum and drops down beautifully when it cycles.
  16. Finished fitting the bottom lugs of the barrel today. Saying fitting a gunsmith barrel is a challenge would be an understatement. Still have to do a little more work on the thumb safety and fit the grip safety. Then I just have to wait for the reamer and Aftec extractor to arrive and it'll be time to shoot this. I can't thank Matt Cheely enough. I emailed him several times today with questions and he answered everyone and got me pointed in the right direction. I'm sure he was busy but him taking the time to answer was greatly appreciated.
  17. I have no plans to give EB a second chance.
  18. Fitted the Bar Sto barrel today. Did not run into any problems there. Took a look at the Ed Brown grip safety that arrived today. Either the holes were drilled off center of each other or it has an actual twist to it. Confirmed it with another frame and another grip safety on this build. Never seen that before. Back to Dawson it goes. Hopefully the rest of my parts arrive next week and I'll have this finished next weekend. I'll shoot it a bit in the white and then it'll be off for finishing. I'm thinking all back. This has been fun so far and I'm already thinking about the 2011 9mm I want to build for 3gun...lol
  19. The frame arrived yesterday. It took about an hour with the hone fixture to fit the slide to the frame. Didn't need to take off enough to justify putting the frame in the mill. Back to being on standby now, waiting on more parts to arrive.
  20. My parts and tools have started arriving today. The CK Arms LDC frame arrives on Monday. More tools and parts will be arriving later in the week. So far I have... Brazos Slide Bar Sto barrel Grip and FCG from a DVC CK Arms links Everglades Ammo frame honing fixture Everglades Ammo slide measuring fixture
  21. I use the Frankford Arsenal with their seperator and magnat. It works very well. I de prime before cleaning and have had no issues with stuck pins.
  22. Yesterday was a blast. Stage 4 was a real monster. I was happy to finish it with only 1 FTN penalty..lol
  23. It depends. A light tap might be all it needs or it might need a little more force. Bullet set back and compressing the powder is a non issue. You won't be attempting to shoot this round again.
  24. You can use a rod from the muzzle end and tap it out. Been there, done that. Nothing to worry about.
