  1. That is correct - it is inteded for use by those in harms way, not gamers. In a CQB situation, a standard brake would leave a lasting impression on those you hope will be helping in the fight. Muzzle blast/concussion would be very distracting during a live fire entry!!!
  2. You would pay $100 for a Rolling thunder that is basically a piece of bar stock with a handful of holes milled in it and a bit of profiling, but $150 for an intricately machined piece is too much? I am not saying that Benny's comp isn't worth it, but there is way more machining time in a Battle Comp. The price is justified in the quality of the work and the fact that it is apparently effective at what it is designed to do (I don't own one). There are several videos out that show just how effective it is at reducing muzzle rise and you don't get the "thunder" that you get from some of the other brake designs.

    AR-10

Have any of you with AR Platform 308's noticed any advantage/disadvantage of one mag type over the other (AR10/SR25 vs DPMS)?
  4. Don't think of the hash marks as anything other than alternate aiming points. Shoot the gun and figure out which hash mark you need at each distance. If they are exact at each 100m/yrd distance then great, but if not, just make a dope card for your gun and memorize it.
  5. When you lube the Tac-Sol upper, you should wipe it almost dry according to much of what I have read, and experienced with my Tac-Sol upper. Running them almost dry keeps the grime buildup to a minimum.
  6. Thanks guys - time to get one ordered.
  7. Thanks for all the feedback. What gas block are you guys using (the barrels at Midway don't come with a gas block)? I am going to check with Brownells special order desk to see if they can get it with a gas block, but otherwise I will need to order one.
  8. Thanks - that is the kind of feedback I was looking for. BTW - SPR is "Special Purpose Rifle" and most of the 18" heavy profile barrels are marketed as such. I just was looking to build a nice long range rig that wouldn't need to be rebarreled too quickly.
  9. Anyone shooting this barrel (the Fluted Mid Length)? How is the accuracy? I am looking for a low cost barrel to do another build and I am debating between the Sabre and the DPMS Mini SASS. The fact that the Sabre is Chrome Lined is a bonus.
  10. I read a few posts about DPMS being very good for the money, but they only offer 5.56 or 223 chambers, and don't list the Wylde Chamber as an option. is 5.56 the way to go? Thanks
  11. Same problem here (although I just changed my email in my profile). Tried the fix above - not sure if it will work. Can someone give this one a bump and send me a PM to see if it is working now? Thanks
  12. Ok - that might be the answer. Hope BE can fix the email problem for me : )
  13. Nope - brand new messages that I replied to just the day before. Any idea why I am not getting emails?
  14. Calling is a blast - got my first this year with a shotgun, and could have used the AR on a couple I missed on the first shot with my bolt gun! Get to work on the Nordic Coyote Comp!
  15. Most everything in my PM inbox has a red X next to the message and the reply button is grayed out and says "you can't reply" Also, and maybe related, I am not getting an email notifications for PM's or posts (Recently changed my email address). I am using Firefox 3.5.8 for my Browser and Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 for my email (IMAP)
  16. Thanks.... Anyone know if DPMS chambers in 223 Wylde? I only see 223 and 5.56 on their site.
  17. Considering a new SS barrel - what is the consensus - 5.56 or .223 chamber?
  18. No - I am going to have it drilled and tapped. I just want to get a rail with the correct contour for the receiver.
  19. I am looking for a low picatinny rail for my M1 for mounting an optic - any suggestions on where to find one?
  20. Yowsers!!!! I have one that will make that sound pretty tame though......from my dad not me.... His buddy was trying to figure out why the generator (not an alternator - not sure if it would have made a difference though) on his car wasn't working correctly, and without thinking, he reached behind it (engine running) and hit the terminal on the back side with his wedding ring. The thing turned glowing red almost instantly and burned flesh right down to the bone of his finger
  21. Nik you know quite a lot. Size 6 shot does make a difference on longer range steel. I would add to that a light modified choke and no that did not come with the gun but all of the better after market choke folks have them. This is due to conservation of momentum. The larger shot sizes do not slow down as quickly as the light ones, so you retain more pellet velocity (as compared to the muzzle velocity) at any given range. Heavier shot of the same dram equivalent as a lighter shot will always hit harder.
  22. I would agree with all the above - a lot of times we want a company to stand behind their warranty even if we do something that is outside the scope of what is covered, but then we are asking them to pay for our own mistake. If it was indeed factory ammo, great - you are covered. If not just say so.
  23. Thank you - I will give them a shout.
  24. I know you guys probably think it is a crazy question, but I have pretty short fingers, and my hands are really thick, so a shorter trigger has always been more to my liking. I put them in all my SIGs and my 1911 even has one. I did a quick Google search and didn't see anything. Probably due to the trigger safety I would guess.
