  1. They're back in stock at Midway according to the website, for $154
  2. Chris, I use the Wilsons. I hear the Tripps are nice, but expensive. I had several Novaks, and they worked well, but did have one base pad break on Miamisburg's concrete floor. If you get the Wilson 8rds. with the extended basepad, the bottom will have to be shaved to fit in the box for SSD. If you get 10rds for Ltd. 10, get the Wilson Bureaucrats. Don't bother with Metalform, I've seen them break the welded floors off, just sitting in the gun! I have some MagPack 8rds. I found on gunbroker and have been hording. These are excellent if you can find them, thick tubes and well formed feed lips, and a great follower. I think the Wilsons are the best mag for the money.
  3. Thanks a bunch! The only problem I see is I'm left handed, and with the shells on the right side, I don't have much forearm to grab onto. I did get the 2 shell slide lock from Dillon, so with 9 in the gun, plus 9 outside, and and 2 Choate 6 shell racks and a 25 shell belt, I'm in good shape. Thanks for taking the time.
  4. Chuck has Mark Otto's side saddle and 2 shell slide lock on his site. Thanks for the tip. Anyone else have a pic? I wanted to see the stuff that goes on the handguard the most.
  5. I got the Bushnell Banner 1-4x32. It will hold zero. It has noticable distortion around the edges. It is not true 1x, more like 1.25x. I gave ~$65 at Natchez Shooters Supply for it, I think it is worth that. I hear if you can find the Weaver V3 for ~$150, it is a much better scope. I will probably get that later after I collect the rest of my 3 gun kit.
  6. I'm waiting on a Remington 1100 Comp Master, which comes with the 3gungear 7rd side saddle. When I was at Remington armorer's school, they passed one around, and I was impressed with the quality. I was at the 3gungear website, and it is being redone, so there are not too many pics up. I was hoping you guys could post some pics of some of the other 3gungear shotgun products. I think I want to add the 2 shell slide lock for the right side. What other pieces should I get? Do they make shell holders that attach to the forearm of the shotgun? Seems like a good place to hang shells. Any pics of any brand of 3 gun gear and where it can be gotten would be appreciated.
  7. I agree. The funniest thing is there was no rules controversey until USPSA's involvement. I remember shooting it in 97 and 98, and seeing Dave Elderton selling his version of the DOH back then, and people using it, no problem. Now all of a sudden, Dick Heinie says the DOH was never and will never be OK with the 1911 Society. I wonder if he ever took a look at the squads walking around PASA and what equipment they were wearing. People have been using that holster at the SSC since it was introduced. I think the huge SV mag wells I saw last year would offend Heinie more than the DOH. Those suckers are humongus! Absolutely no way they would be concealable without printing.
  8. I didn't have to join, I just had to pay more because I wasn't a member of 1911. I already was a member of USPSA. They offer a discount to 1911 Soc. members. This is still the the 1911 Society's Single Stack Classic IN ADDITION to being the USPSA SS Nationals. I think members of the Society get a newsletter, I've never gotten one. Did you get any benefits to being a Society member this year?
  9. You do not have to be a member of the 1911 Society to shoot the match, but you must be a member of USPSA, since it is a Nationals match. My buddy joined USPSA to shoot last year, then the match signed him up again, so he had two numbers a while until they straightened it out. This should be my 5th SSC, I like this match, but LOVE the Patio pork chop in Quincy.
  10. I'm going to try .40 minor, and have a couple thousand 200gr. Star's on hand, and a couple pounds of WSF. Anyone have a load that is about 130 pf? I only need about 640 fps!
  11. Thanks, RS, I will hunt for those.
  12. I am waiting on a Para p18 9mm LDA I won on Gunbroker for cheap. It's coming with 2 factory mags, but I want a couple more for Production use. Will the SPS mags work in this gun with or without modification? Is the mag release notch in the right spot? I can get the Mec-gar P18 mags for $17 at Brownells, but have heard they probably won't hold the slide back without a follower swap, still cheaper that $44 for Para mags. Opinions welcome for mags. Will a regular ambi safety work on the LDA pistols? This one does not have an ambi, I am left handed, and am use to riding the safety with my left thumb on my other 1911s. Really won't have much use for a safety on this pistol, except as a thumb rest. I assume this is legal for production since other LDAs come with ambi's. I am anxious to shoot this gun for production. I am not happy with my Glock 34, just too different from my STI's grip.
  13. I'm having the same problem with my SV tubes. I have, for now, Arredondo springs and followers in my 140 tubes, with Dawson +2 bases. They will hold 24, but tonight I had two followers stick, one with 24 in it and the other with 23. If I can only load 22 or 21, I might as well sell the +2 bases. Will the Grams spring/follower fix this,
  14. I used a JP magwell, and a brass Seattle Slug. Cut the slug off flush with the bottom of the gun, then put the well on, and drill and tap into the slug. It adds a few ounces. You could also fill the opening in the grip with lead golfer's tape, then add your magwell.
  15. I have worn Nike Land Sharks, and Bates Scouts for IPSC for a couple years. I liked the Bates GSG9 style sole, but they are too hot in August (black duty style boot). I like my New Balance trail runners, so I checked their website. Their hiking boot line is Dunham. The Dunham 905 Waffle Stomper has a mesh/synthetic upper like my trail runner, but has a very aggressive knobby sole. I have wide feet, and NB/Dunham goes up to 4E. I got them today, and they are awesome! Plus they are on sale. Check the New Balance site and click on hiking boots. www.nbwebexpress.com I will shoot the Indiana Sectional next week with them and report back.
  16. Jay Worden taught my RO course, and specifically stated the 1 meter rule applied no matter what direction the shooter/gun was looking. 1 meter bubble all around. We can all have opinions, but we only have 1 rulebook.
  17. Does anyone that shoots at Oxford know if next weeks match will have a rifle or shotgun sidematch?
  18. I had the need for a 9mm barrel to replace my super Schuemann last year, and could not find any. I went with the KKM, and am happy with it. I ordered it straight from KKM, and got it in a couple days. Price was a little cheaper too.
  19. Gary, Could you post a pic of your compliant, modified mag pads, and a guesstimate of how much needs to be taken off? Thank you for all your work on the new division. It will be fun. Bob
  20. I've already emailed Amidon. I love shooting USPSA. I shot 4 sectionals, the Area 5 and the SSC last year, but why do you think this is good joining USPSA and the SSC? Don't get me wrong, I like it too, IF USPSA conforms to 1911 Society, not the other way around. I think the best reason of joining the two is The Great One can add another National Championship to his resume! This will be a great opportunity for a vendor to set up in the Quincy Holiday Inn and sell USPSA-compliant parts for Wilson mags and steel guide rods.
  21. I did read them. That appears to be the problem. Which rules is the match going to follow, the published rules that the SSC has used for a decade, that specifies a gun fit in a box WITHOUT the magazine, and tungsten guide rods are allowed, or the USPSA SS division rules that says we use a box WITH a mag in the gun, and no heavier-than-steel guide rods? USPSA and the 1911 Society need to agree to one set of rules, and get them to the shooters BEFORE April. You quoted both sets of rules in your last post, with the Society's box AND USPSA's rule on guide rods. Anyone else confused on who is running this match? I am referring strictly to the Single Stack Classic, not to the SS Division, which is USPSA's baby, and a great one in my opinion. This match has always been autonomous, not IDPA, not USPSA. When I shoot SS Division, I will follow USPSA's published rules.
  22. As for Ohio, last heard, there won't be one, unless a club steps up to host it. I had a short conversation with Flex, and he did not think Picaway Sportsman would do it again this year. No one else has the size needed, at least not in the SW part of the state. I guess if the Raynor's don't host it, we won't have one.
  23. Gary Is there going to be a box used at the Single Stack Classic? I really hope not, because this match has been going on for 11+ years, and as others have said, draws shooters from many disciplines, who might not necessarily care that USPSA has their "fingers in the pie" now, nor that a "box" is going to outlaw mags that they have been using for over a decade. This is not an issue of it only costing $7 to replace pads. There is a thread on 1911 Forum that stated tungsten guide rods not being allowed. These are specifically allowed by the 1911 Society. I think if USPSA is going to change up 1911 Society standing rules and practices, be prepared for a firestorm come April 28-29. I'll bring my shorter pads, and I'll play by the rules, mostly because I read these forums. Will everyone that shoots the SSC? Doubtful. Just food for thought. PS: The 1911 Society has not updated their rules or FAQ page to reflect any changes to their match.
  24. Thanks for all the replies and advice. I bought these bullets last year and used 1000 in my supercomp barrel, and they worked great. They are .355. I tried chambering some rounds that did not gauge, and when I managed to get the slide open and extract them, there is brass rubbed on the side of the case, just where the base of the bullet is inside the case. There must be enough freebore, as there is no rifling marks on the bullets. I have seen the oversized, brass ring-brass when I tried reloading some Norinco 9mm cases back in the early 90's. That brass was so soft, when fired it swelled up just above the extraction groove. When resized, it would leave a ring just like Dan's picture. I'm definitely not having that problem. I did back the crimp off about a half turn, but still have the problem. I think I will back it off all the way and start my crimp all over. But like I said, I was able to "solve" this one round at a time by running the offending rounds a couple hundredths into a carbide sizer (without the decapping stem), so the resizer must be swaging down the bullet heel enough fix it. I am using brand new 9mm die inserts in my SDB, and the barrel is a brand new KKM that I specified when I called them to NOT have the step in the barrel Dan had problems with last year. This set up runs with standard factory minor 9mm
