  1. Probably would not be asking but it's very frequent. 2 or 3 of every 5 mags that hits the floor ends up like that. Not a major issue now, but could be concerning at a major match Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I have Tripp 9mm mags and put Dawson base pads on... In dry fire I'm dropping mags onto carpet laid down in my garage and frequently finding the base pad coming halfway off or all the way off when I drop the mags. Seems like the retaining plate inside isn't doing a good job of staying put when it hits the deck. Anyone having this issue? Know of a fix? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I've been shooting primarily production since I started shooting USPSA (a short 8 months ago)... recently shot a classifer match in SS w/ major. I performed terribly. Partly I think because I've grown so accustomed to minor loads from practice and the matches I've shot that when I went to major I was all over the place trying to shoot the same splits as when shooting my minor production gun. Add that to trying to get used to planning a stage around 8 round mags vs 10 and I have opted to give SS minor a try for a while. I probably won't shoot SS a lot, but I got a spot at SS Nats and for the rest of the year maybe I'll shoot some local matches. As its stated above somewhere this was a good excuse to make use of a new gun and a 9mm 1911 with 130pf loads is just plain fun to shoot.
  4. Another vote for M&P 9pro. The apex hard sear is a must. An absolute must on a standard m&p 9 but I even feel there is an improvement over the pro sear. Several years ago I had a 9L that experienced some FTE issues and kinda scared me off for a while. Last year I switched back and got a pro9. It has been a GREAT gun. Very reliable. I have out appx 5,000 rnds thru it and it just keeps getting better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Great match! Weather was awful on Saturday but still had a great time. Thanks to the staff, I'll definitely be back next year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. No comment on the bobro, I've heard they're great but never used one. I'll give another thumbs up for Larue LT104. Just mounted a Tr24 using the lt104 and I love it. I've also got an Aimpoint mounted on an AR with a Larue mount. Very happy with everything I've seen from them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Tomorrow looks like it will be a great day... Too bad I'm also shootin Saturday in the colllllld and rain. Fingers crossed for some spontaneous tropical weather. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I've been looking around and can't seem to find any info in previous threads. I'm looking at swapping out the mag release on my SS gun for uspsa. Are the drilled and tapped mag releases from Dawson, with their extended screw in buttons, legal for single stack? I didn't see it addressed in the single stack equipment rules but wasn't sure if that meant it was legal or illegal. Thanks for any help Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Ya that was painful. Like reading comments on a news story...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I'm an armorer at my sheriffs office and last year trained and issued out 140 new m&p to my department.. Some had extremely stiff slide releases while others were very light. Mine will drop on a new mag almost every time with out any extra effort, others absolutely required racking the slide (vs pressing the release) to get the slide to drop. I don't think it's a part that will quickly wear in if yours is stiff. To this day my duty gun slide will drop on a new mag and my m&p9 pro is stiff as hell. And I've got several thousand more rounds through my 9pro. My guess is unless you remove material on the release (tho I am not recommending that) it will continue to be very stiff. My advice to our guys who got guns with stiff slide releases was to know their guns and if they needed to rack the slide to drop it, then practice that way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I have not noticed smoke at all. Doesn't mean there is zero, but so little I haven't seen it or found it distracting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I loaded 500 or so 2.8gr TG at about 1.135" with 147gr FP (mine were bayou). They were incredibly soft, tho I was shooting up close so I can't make any comments on accuracy. Only problem for me was they chrono'd at 121pf, which doesn't get the job done. Otherwise they ran flawlessly in my mp9pro 5" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Update.. After going through 500 BBI 147gr 9mm I actually gave Bayou Bullets a try. I've read a lot of threads where people have great things to say so I figured why not. In the pic, bayous in the red(ish) and BBI in the black (obviously). Hard to tell much difference in the bullets side by side. And performance on paper seemed pretty similar. Only thing I did notice was no odor with the bayous. I have switched to Titegroup and the 147gr bayou over 3.0 grains making minor PF with no real smoke that I notice while shooting. Overall I'd be happy with either bullet, slight edge to bayou on the chemical-odor free shooting experience. For now I intend on blasting away with bayous this season. 14. I've probably loaded 3k 9mm and 40sw rounds on my 650 this year... The last 300 I started using some Dillon case lube. Holy crap. Absolutely noticed a difference in how smooth the press operated. I think it upped my loading rate just because I didn't feel like I was having to really crank the cases in and out of stations 1 and 2. I'm a big fan. I will definitely lube pistol cases from now on. 15. Wow. With that kind of activity I'm thinking you will be in heaven with the 650. Good luck and enjoy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I did a few years loading on a 450rl. Switched to the 650 and I love it. Easy to set up, easy to switch out calibers (extra tool heads), I've loaded more on this press in the last year than I did in the past 5 years on the 450. I also use lee dies and have no complaints. Never used anything else, but so far haven't found a reason to try anything else. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I started out in production w/ a Safariland 5198 using their belt loops (terrible). The holster was decent, the loops were awful (very thick and created a huge space between the inner and outter belt), and it road pretty high and somewhat tight. Ordered the Boss hanger and bladetech holster last week, which just came in a few days ago. Its a HUGE improvement. I think it puts the gun exactly where I always wanted the safariland to be. I would have been ok with continuing the use the safariland holster if it had fit the boss hanger, but it doesn't unfortuntately. Even though I had no issues w/ the previous holster I am more than pleased with the switch to the bladetech. It is a solid holster and the thumb adjustable tension is an excellent added feature. Also, on top of putting the gun where I want it, the Boss hanger seems to be rock solid, which is definitely a plus. Overall very happy w/ my purchase.
  18. Got out and did some comparison over the chrono with xtreme 147s and BBI 147s. Over the same load (3.2gr bullseye) BBI were avg 917fps - 134pf and the xtremes were avg 886fps - 130pf. I guess I'll back the powder off another tenth or two and chrono again and see if I can keep them around 128pf or so. I can deal with the smell and the rest seemed positive so I'll probably pick up a case of them for my next couple / few months of shooting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I dropped mine in the mail from Indiana on the 2nd and got an email today at 5pm saying I got in as an open slot for relay 3, Yee haw. Mine was in my junk mail box so make sure to check that if you haven't heard anything in a few days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Put about 90 through my M&P9 pro and Kimber 9mm today. Had a few issues with feeding, however, I was experimenting with some recoil/striker spring combinations. That only lasted about 10-15 rounds and once the factory springs were back in the M&P fed them fine. They seemed accurate, I didn't sandbag it and really go for accuracy, but was able to ring some B/C sized steel at 50 yards. There was definitely some heavy odor with these bullets. I was outdoors and it was immediately noticeable. Not unbearable, but might be a different story at an indoor range. I was loading bullseye powder, 3.2gr, and did not notice any smoking at all. I will be switching to Titegroup when this pound of powder is gone so I'll have to reevaluate once that happens. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Black bullets 147 FP next to xtreme 147 RN My test batch... 100 BBI and 100 xtreme 147s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I've been reloading for a few years but ramping it up toward the end of last year and into this year. So far I've reloaded some hard cast .45s from Missouri Bullet co. They seemed solid. That was pretty slow reloading time for me and I had no bad issues with them. Next I moved on to xtreme bullets in 9mm and 40. (Soon to try .45) They were good. No issues there either. Now I've found black bullets international. Ordered a 500 rnd box of 147gr FP to try out. I was able to get 100 loaded up tonight. So far they seem like a decent bullet. Obviously putting some down range will tell, but at $43 shipped for 500 147s (and considerably less if you are buying in bulk) its something to consider. I'll follow up with some thoughts once I shoot these side by side with my extreme bullets.... And just fyi what I've been loading is 3.2gr of bullseye with 147 gr at 1.135" ... Was making just shy of 130pf Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. What's the preferred dot size for the delta point ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I also think it's good to compensate the people who set up before a match (match fee covered, ect). One of the clubs about an hour away from me does have an rsvp program. Gotta give notice that you will help in advance and then be there by a specified time to qualify for free match. Seems to work well. I rarely make it for set up, thought not because I feel entitled to having the match set up for me. With 3 very young children Saturday mornings can be hectic to say the least and if I want to be able to shoot at all I need to pitch in at home as well. Hopefully I will be able to help more as they get older. Pasting and resetting is a no brainer, it's plain rude to sit back and not participate in that during a match, regardless of match size/level. I can say that I definitely help with tear down. That goes like a lot have mentioned where your squad tears down the stage where you finish. Unless you have a legit issue that is the exception and not the rule I would think tear down is an expected part of the match. Not to mention it takes almost no time at all.
