Looks for Range

Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I went to a music store over lunch and played a Yamaha NP30. I was impressed both by the sound and the feel of the keyboard. I didn't realize it from looking online, but it actually has built in speakers and can be powered by 6 AA batteries. It is definitely a step up from the lower end keyboards, and should still fill all of your requirements. Both Guitar Center and Musician's Friend have it online for $270. http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-NP30-Digital-Keyboard?sku=702663 http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-NP30-Digital-Piano-104636402-i1320984.gc
  2. You might also look at the Yamaha YPG235 - $300 http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-YPG235-76-KEY-PORTABLE-GRAND-KEYBOARD-104840905-i1388211.gc I would highly recommend trying a few before you buy. If you have a local Guitar Center, that could be good place to try out several brands. You are really limiting your choices by having the battery requirement. You may find that the internal speakers do not provide enough volume to balance your choir. If you can forgo the battery requirement, the ideal setup would be a higher end keyboard connected to a dedicated keyboard amp like the Yamaha NP30 (http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-NP30-Digital-Keyboard?sku=702663) paired with a Behringer K450FX Keyboard amp (http://keyboards-midi.musiciansfriend.com/product/Behringer-ULTRATONE-K450FX-Keyboard-AmpPA-System?sku=480784). I have a Music Ed. (vocal) degree and have messed around with electronic keyboards for over 20 years so feel free to pick my brain. I would love to be able to help. Shoot me a PM me if you have any questions.
  3. What are your requirements? Full size keyboard? (or will 76 or 61 keys suffice?) What kind of sounds do you require? (just piano and electric piano or do you need strings, etc.?) Do you need weighted keys? How portable? How much do you want to spend? Let me know the answers, and I can probably help with some recommendations.
  4. +1 for Avast. I have used most of the other major brands (McAfee, Norton, Trend, etc.) over the years both at home and at work (I work in IT). The big three all started out good products, but have become so bloated over the years that I can no longer recommend them for home use. I have used Avast for a couple of years at home with no problems.
  5. Another vote for CP shok buffs. I have run them in all of my guns for years without a single problem. It would be interesting to know if the problems people are reporting are limited to a particular types of buffs (ex. soft vs. hard).
  6. +1 On the Tipton carbon cleaning rod. Tipton Website
  7. Here are some pics of the Maxpedition Condor II loaded with a few items. I hope they help. The pics in order are: 1. Gun in back (hydration) compartment 2. Front Bottom Compartment 3. Main Compartment with 2 ammo boxes 4. Gun (bagged) and 2 ammo boxes in main compartment 5. Side view of the Main Compartment 6. Gun on the bag for size comparison 7. Top Front Compartment
  8. Are you trying to get an idea of what it can hold? I had been trying to decide between the Condor and the Falcon. I have read that the pics on the Maxpedition site make the bags appear larger than they really are. I was able to look at the Falcon and the Condor in person, and I would agree that the bags look considerably larger on the Maxpedition site than they do in person. For that reason, I ordered the Condor (should be here Monday). I can send you pics of it next to some guns etc. for size comparison if you are interested.
  9. Empty casings aren't dummy rounds though nor are they live rounds. Does this rule indicate that empty cases are considered dummy rounds? 10.5.12 Handling live or dummy ammunition (including practice or training rounds, snap caps and empty cases), loaded magazines or loaded speed loading devices in a Safety Area, or failing to comply with Rule 2.4.1. ...
  10. Same here. I have shot several thousand and never had a problem. I do, however, use Federal primers for my daughter's revolver.
