  1. Well, month 14 has arrived and I'm one step closer. On a positive note I got a call last month asking if I wanted my grip safety functional or not. At least I'm on the radar. Guess I'll pour some beer and wait...
  2. I waited 13 months for my Cheely Limited and so far it's been worth every round downrange.
  3. I pretty much just put down the cash and forgot about it, or at least tried to. Now, once they call and say it's on the way I'll get really impatient haha.
  4. I agree and I will post up some pics whenever it arrives.
  5. Month 13...on the positive side I got a call a couple weeks ago asking if I wanted a functional grip safety or not. Getting closer!
  6. Looks great. I just picked up my first CZ, a P-07 to replace a EDC I was recently relieved of. Haven't been to the range yet but if it shoots as good as it feels and handles in dry fire drills, I may start offloading some other guns to add more CZs.
  7. Well I like to hear there's hope for recovery, even if it takes years. Loved that gun.
  8. From your list probably the STI. However, I'll echo what someone else said...get a Dan Wesson PM9 (or any of their 9mm) and you won't regret it. They look, feel, and run like guns far more expensive.
  9. I agree and I never do...except when I forgot it that night...and of course I get a lesson in why I don't forget things like that.
  10. So long story short, I had a Dan Wesson Guardian in .38 Super stolen from my car, in my driveway, sometime Thursday night to Friday morning. Gun is a bobtail commander 1911, black, with wood DW grips. Had one, 8-round magazine in it. Serial Number 1405865. Police report is filed and I doubt I'll see it again, but I'm throwing it out there just in case. I'm posting this around on the different forums I'm on as well.
  11. I understand the difference and agree with both of you. What I was getting at is that cast engine components are subject to stresses beyond what a cast firearms frame would be subject to and last for years. Unless someone is cranking out tens of thousands of rounds per year (and even maybe not then) they shouldn't have to worry about a cast frame. Now, I still choose forged over cast when offered the option. I built my Mustang years ago using forged components, even on a NA motor, because they're stronger. Frames, I'd choose forged as well. My point is that most people shouldn't stay awake at night sweating the decision either way.
  12. I always went back and forth on this and will still choose forged if given the choice. Even though one may be "stronger" than the other, I thought about it a little and decided that if auto manufacturers made engine blocks and cylinder heads from cast iron then a cast frame was probably stronger than most give it credit for.
  13. This. I use Mobile 1 full synthetic for most guns. Even at $7 a quart or whatever it is, I'm still way ahead of the game. A quart lasts forever it seems. I also have some Slide-Glide I use on my Limited gun. Never thought about diesel specific synthetic though, have to check into that.
  14. Very nice. You guys are killing me with these. Pacing holes in my floor with anticipation.
  15. That looks spectacular. That is the same frame with two top-ends, yes?
  16. If it's what you want and the cost isn't a big concern then there's no reason not to. I have a 1911 on order now that's a full custom. No real intention of using it to compete; just to carry, range time, and to enjoy.
  17. I shoot with a guy from work who uses it for steel challenge and USPSA through his Glock. Seems to like it just fine and I've not seen him have any issues.
  18. I got it for $850 so I'm pretty happy with that. Picked it up today and there was more machine work than I noticed in the pics. The slide has been trip-topped and the leading edges of the slide and frame have all been machined at an angle, I assume to keep from snagging on a reholster, although the gun doesn't look like it's seen more than a box of ammo let alone a holster.
  19. I won the top bid for an STI VIP 9mm at an online bankruptcy auction today. It was what I would consider significantly modified. The slide had front cocking serrations milled into it, and had slide lightening cuts milled in the top (not all the way through, just some taken off). The rear of the slide also had lightening done where the rear serrations were at, by way of the removal of some of them. The slide has been refinished in what looks like an Ion Bond black or similar coating. The big thing that drew my attention was the STI grip had been replaced by an SVI Compact Carry, single undercut, micro pocket grip and black SV trigger shoe. Gun came with the hard case and two magazines and the work looks pretty professional, at least from the pics. Is there any way to determine the date of manufacture of the grip? Is there a SN I will be able to find on it somewhere? I'm going to see if STI can tell me when the original gun was produced.
  20. Nice! Mind if I ask when you placed your order? Hopefully that'll give me a rough idea of when to start pacing...
  21. I voted that I have a nice pretty gun. In fairness I haven't had the time with my 2011 that I had with the Glock. I've been shooting Glock for years for work and sport. I'm faster and more accurate with the 2011 but not by as much as I would like. That is simply a function of time and practice on the platform though, because my Limited gun is a far superior game gun than a production Glock 19 was.
  22. Try loading longer. I run 1.18 with no issues. I have had a couple FTF running factory loaded (Glock length) .40 when I ran out of my reloads at the range. Enjoy!
