  1. I might just do that. I'll be sure to tell him you told me to haha. On a plus side, now that I have my FFL it can come right to my door
  2. I'm jealous of your four month wait time on the Cheely. It took a little over 12 months to get my Limited gun from him. The wait was worth it though, the gun is outstanding. The SVI will be more of a carry gun for me than a competition gun though unless I feel like trying my hand at Single Stack...which I might down the road. I ordered it so I'd get it right around my 20 year Army anniversary, as a gift to myself for hanging in there for the long haul.
  3. Not at all...fully expecting the 15 month wait...just happy to have another one in the books.
  4. 11 months into the wait. I have nothing else to add, I just wanted express my happiness with another month wait in the books...
  5. Another Guardian vote, mine in .38 Super though.
  6. Nice! Just paid mine in full...and one more month closer to getting it...getting excited at this point, although I should temper my excitement some as I'm still several months away
  7. Shot this last weekend: Time HF Stage Pts 6.66 3.7538 15.9212 A/C, then rode the safety up on the transition to steel. In my natural reflex I ran an immediate action drill on the gun instead of just dropping the safety. Two shots on steel, then A/D if I remember correctly. I'm guessing about 4.5 or so if I don't screw up on the transition. Still trying to get a Limited classification so the screw up didn't help. But hey, nowhere to go but up. Just need to practice some more in order to quit riding the safety up. I've done it a few times now.
  8. I pulled the pin and tapered it off a bit, then smoothed it up with 320 and 600 grit paper. Then I made up some rounds from the offending brass batch. No issues. Thanks for all the help fellas.
  9. I suppose that could be the issue. I suppose that could be the issue. Sometimes it takes two or three pulls to get the primer punched out. I'll pull the pin and hit it with the grinder to round it off.
  10. I have a new batch of 1000 once fired .40 brass. I load on a Dillon 550 and yesterday I was having problems with the de-priming station. I had roughly 15% of the spent primers get pushed almost out, but not enough for them to drop free. This happened mostly when there were rounds in the other three stations of the press, but not always. I adjusted the sizing/depriming die down a bit but that didn't seem to help much. The brass is Federal headstamp with silver colored primers. All the brass from this batch was fired through Glocks, guessing from the striker indent on the primers. Any ideas?
  11. I'm not familiar with the "old" SV quality. Was there a change or a particular period of time that signaled the change to what they are now? Also, if they have a lifetime warranty (explicit or implied) would these not be covered? Less than half price of new and no wait seems reasonable to me.
  12. http://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/products2.cfm/ID/152317/infinityused/strayer-voigt-infinity-swat-40sw-police-trades Not sure if anyone else has seen these, but I'm about two seconds away from buying one. ...must...resist...
  13. The issue I'd have with this is I don't have any access to a Cerakote hookup. So if buy a $700 gun, then pay for cerakote, then send it for a couple hundred of gunsmithing work...well I'm about where I am just buying the DW. So after that thought and more research on the DW models, I bought the DW Guardian in .38 Super. Should have it on Monday or Tuesday. Looking forward to carrying it around and getting some range time. Admittedly its a holdover until December-ish when my soon to be favorite carry gun is finished...but what can I say, I beat back my 1911 addiction for years and have fallen off the wagon lately. And I'm ok with that
  14. I did my research and am somewhat torn, so I need some opinions. I've been offered up a new 1911 for a birthday present but I need to pick it out. What I'm torn between now is a DW Guardian in .38 Super or 9mm (in stock at Bud's), STI Ranger in .40 or STI Guardian in 9mm (in stock at Shooter's Connection). I will have to get an ambi-safety in any of them that I get since I'm a lefty. Also there is a STI VIP .40 that has an ambi-safety already listed on Shooters Connection, but I want to stick to something slimmer than a G19 which is what I currently carry. Frankly I'm leaning towards the 38 Super DW for brand reliability, and because I just like off calibers a bit and I don't own a 38. Any opinions before I throw down on one of these CCWs? Edit: Also considering the STI Lawman 4.0 in 9mm
  15. I did a lot of research on this looking at a carry gun believe it or not. There is no competitive advantage to 10mm over .40 that I could find. However, I've always wanted a 10mm CCW and decided that I could go ahead and order one so I could use it for carry as well as USPSA SS division. Like blairmckenzie1 stated, you have to load it down to lower the recoil to .40 levels and you'll spend more in brass at matches. But based on my desire for a 10mm CCW, and the fact that I have a .40 for Limited division, I decided it was worth it.
  16. I've shot with Tim, in fact he gave me my first ever DQ down there about a year ago...haha. Pete, the guy that runs the matches at Dickson runs one of his customs. I originally talked to him about milling the slide for a different rear site, but haven't talked to him yet about a full rebuild. I've heard all good things.
  17. Little Bill: "You just shot an unarmed man!" William Munny: "Well he should have armed himself if he's gonna decorate his saloon with my friend." Watched Unforgiven the other day...can't help but like that line.
  18. I haven't contacted him yet to find out the lead time but I will. I have one of his pistols as my Limited gun. Waited almost 13 months for it and it was worth the wait. And you're right about good service, that guy is all over it.
  19. I hadn't heard of him, I guess I'll have to take a look. Thanks for the heads up.
  20. Looking for a recommendation for a good smith to rebuild a 1911 from the ground up essentially. I have a Kimber TLE II that I originally bought in early 2005. It has been used pretty heavily, though only about 5k round count. Several years ago it was used as a test gun for our armorers to practice on and they replaced springs, did a trigger job, some polishing, and a Duracoat (I think) refinish. I decided a few months ago that I wanted it stripped to the bare metal and completely rebuilt so I got it as far as completely stripped of parts, except the sights, and that's where it sits today. Need a good gunsmith that can strip the finish off, tighten slide to frame fit, and rebuild it with good forged internals, new sights, and a new finish job. I have a couple local ones that I'm still waiting on email replies from but I don't mind sending the frame and slide out either. Thanks.
  21. If you drop tens of thousands of dollars on custom guns from a company, well, maybe you've earned a cut in line
  22. Well I am officially one month closer to owning my first SVI. It's the little victories...
  23. We're sitting at 1.10-1.30 gallon more here. Diesel costing more than gas is maddening enough, but to stay so much higher (and artificially higher at that) is worse. Family hauler is diesel and we put on some miles.
  24. Trying to sell anything on Craigslist seems to be a crapshoot as to who is going to reply to your add, and how much spam you'll get in your email and text messages. I've been trying to sell a dirtbike for the last couple months and I've only had one actual interested party--along with about two dozen spam emails and texts asking me to "Contact me about your MOTORCYCLE TYPE AND YEAR for sale before I can make final offer acceptable to you. Communicate to me with totalsetupemail@crap.com". Big freakin grrrr moments there.
