  1. I want to shot Open but DAMN! I dont think so for what your going through.
  2. JJangle, what kind of accuracy do you get with the 115 bullets? thanks
  3. Damm, shooting 115 grs out of that TriBrid setup sounds Bitchn!!!!
  4. you should give a special trophy for high L10 at this match! DAMM 61 rounds on one stage!
  5. jjangln, how do you like your 6"TriBrid setup? TeamGE, thinks it a great way to go with a short overall setup and light mass on the slide? Are you using it with a 5" slide? Are there too many ports with this setup? thanks Also are the barrels .355 dia? So if you shoot 115 gr bullets should you find a barrel with a .355 bore? JJanglin, what bullets are you shooting with the TriBrid? Would 115s be too much or loud? thanks
  6. very well said. I think we should drop the subject and move on.
  7. Dave will you be going to the Pig Roast at SWPL or Golden Bullet? I would good to see some single stacks.
  8. any going? will it be like the Reno match? A hoser match? thanks
  9. You know as much as I stick up for the L10 class and Limited. Sometimes I go to sleep and dream about building an Open gun! Look at all the comps, optics and stuff and you begin to think "yeah open is bitchn!!!!! I can kick ASS with one these puppies" Then I wake up and go dry fire my single stack. And I think CONTROL, Dave. (Edited by dave pasos at 3:51 pm on June 3, 2002)
  10. great reply. I hoped you enjoyed your time while your were here in the states. Its too bad a RO had to call anyone a cheater. That just doesnt seem professional.
  11. Follow the suggestion Beven Gram has mention before about a 40 open gun. He uses a Tribird barrel. I can unerstand why guys want one. But the only way if you use 135 pr 125 bullets like Beven has mentioned. The 125 gr bullets from Sinter (not sure on the spelling) go for about 80 bucks per thousand. If there are any other bullets to use I hope someone will mention them. If it wasnt for the price of bullets or lack of them a 40 would be a good choice. Number of rounds is not a real issue you can always make reload and still be competive. I think.
  12. In states where there is a 10rd limit on new guns L-10 is perfect! For USPSA to grow in these states that is the only option new shooter have. Of course you can buy replacement mags but not everyone is willing to bend or break the law just to assembly a mag. Besides what has happened to this sport? We talk about the techniques on shooting faster and seeing faster but what about the reloading techniques and the strategies used to shooting a stage with a L10 or prduction gun? Are we buying ours scores by getting a gun with most bullets? I can see both sides of the debate but wait until your state puts a ban on selling hi caps! I hope it doesnt get to that. For this sport to grow L10 and prod. is what this sport needs. With the cost of hi cap guns and everything else you need along with mags this sport is going to out price itself for alot of new members Iam tried of spending 75 dollars and up on mags. Its insane.
  13. Ive tried to think about this before and Ive just given up on it. But in Washington I just dont think you have the number of miniorities like we do here in S.Ca. If people here are having a hard time of getting by, let alone spending extra cash on a foolish sport as viewed by many I dont think you'll find the average miniority participating in this sport.
  14. Travis is right on. When I started shooting weak hand shooting was weak! Now I shooting groups with my strong and weak hand at 25 yds. I shoot at a white square 1.5x1.5 or so. I shoot 5 or 6 shots trying to group my shot just like I would do when I sight my gun. I watch the follow through the way the gun recoils. And I pay attention to how much I have to shadow the target at different distances with the hand Iam shooting with. I also practice shooting with a no-shoot on the left side and on the right side or on both sides of the target at different distances out to 25 yds. To get comforable with the front side on that side with a no-shoot and relax when I fire the shot just like when grouping your shots. All the fundentalmental apply. I would not recommend shooting Bill drill only although their are times when do have to shot weak at very close targets. But with some practice at longer distances shooting close seem easy. Hope this helps.
  15. You know I was thinking for anyone who has problems with feeding its usually the ramp. Something needs to done or reshaped or something. And I'll bet the gun will feed it.
  16. I jsut called Berry bullets and they informed me that their bullets are thicker than WC. For what its worth.
  17. So what your saying is that if you have a used spring in the gun you can figure out how worn out it is at lock lock? sounds cool! But should a 15 lb spring at slide lock rate at 13 lbs? Or should it be at 15lbs? thanks
  18. No Whiner, first be sure that your springs do not have any coils cut. In the case of the 16 lb spring since the SB has no marks I would think that the spring is collapsing onto itself. Not even getting close to the SB. the SB is doing no good, your just using up space that the spring can use. With the 14 lb spring take a look at how close the slide is cutting the SB. Is it cutting it all the way through? If so try a 15 lb spring and see what results you get. Remember the SB is an indication of how far the spring is allowing the slide to travel rearward. For the SB to be effective there should be alittle indentation from the slide on the SB. Can you in picture this in your mind of how this works? To get an idea of the space being used try a simple measurement. With no spring and move the slide to the most rearward position and place a piece of tape on the dust cover where the front of the slide stops. Then assemble the gun with spring and SB. Do the same move the slide to the most rear position and place another piece of tape where the front of the slides stops. You can use this as a guide of how much spring needs to be trim so that the slide is using the most of its rearward travel and not beat up the SB. With the proper weight spring. This is what I look for but then I use a 14 lb spring with no SB. But I know its not slamming on the frame not like a 13 lb would. Maybe Iam wrong but these are some of what I ve seen with my trial and error.
  19. Newguy, its true that an Open gun is alot different than a 45. Only you can decide what route you want to follow. Now this my experience but no matter what gun you use there are some fundentmental that will remain the same with whatever gun you have. And this includes how you shoot a stage whether its entering boxes or doorways etc. its called Economy of Motion. Watch the Burners tapes and you will see that only difference in the manner in which he shoots between the Open and Limited gun is the type of sights hes watching. Without really watching you shoot its hard to say what it is you might need. But I would asking for help from someone who is willing to help, would be your best start. Sometimes this sport can be cruel. As if everyone is on their own trip. But dont give up! We care.
  20. the thing is its not so much the shock buff but the LENGTH of the spring. Granted you have to use a lighter spring but when you add a shock buff you elimated the distance or area that the spring was using when the slide was opening. Think of it as a stock car spring used on a lowered car. The full length car spring is too long for the reduced distance of a lowered car. So the length of the spring needs to be tailored to the amount of distance that is remaining when you add shock buffs. It is not uncommon for speedters to use a 12 or11 lb springs cutting 3 coils and using the .120 or whatever it is Hiett makes. You can get to a point where you can tailor the length of the spring by watching how much of an impression the slide is leaving on the SB. Otherwise is you dont do this the spring is compressing on to it self. Your ruining the spring.
  21. Have any of you guy seen his "Pro Sx" setup for open? Its seem like a cool way to for open. any thoughts? thanks
  22. David, good question. Maybe I didnt make it clear. I suppose I myself wouldnt want to see Latios, with a gang appreance shooting IPSC matches. But I would like to see Latios who are responbile citizens and gun owners shooting matches. But should a appreance suggest that a person is not responbile. I guess USPSA could say no gang looking clothes be not permitted same as the "camo look" is not permitted.
