  1. Not 100% sure, it is whatever Dawson Precision puts in the gun with their IDPA package.
  2. I had yet another gun issue at a match today. Was at Easton Fish and Game for a large IDPA match when my STI Trojan decided it just did not want to work anymore after only the third of twelve stages. Fortunately for me another shooter on my squad had the same gun and was nice enough to share his gun with me so I could complete the match. When I opened her up here is what I found
  3. Agreed! I was an SO at an IDPA match a week ago and caught a new shooter pulling the gun out and I slapped his hand down and kept the gun from coming out. I explained to him why I did it and he was very thankful.
  4. NO way! If the shooter takes the gun out of the holster before the make ready command he is gone for the day, no warnings - that is a DQ!
  5. I am using new (not reman) Freedom Munitions 147gr 9mm ammo. I have pulled the firing pin and cleaned everything very well and run the gun fairly wet. Have not totally taken the lower apart, but if parts don't work that will be the last step. The gun has about 5,000 rounds through it, if I believe (which I do) what the original owner told me when I bought it a year ago.
  6. Ordered an extended firing pin, new firing pin spring, 13# main spring (it had 15# and CZ Custom suggesting sticking with 13 rather than 11.5) also ordered new recoil spring. Hope that fixes it as this is one of my favorite guns and it needs to be reliable again.
  7. Thanks jdd817 - I tried as you suggested an only feel one click. Motosapiens - The gun currently has a 15 pound hammer spring. I am going to replace it as it is probably worn, would you suggest I go with 13 pounds then? What about the recoil spring? What weight should I get if I am using 147 grain ammo? I think I am going to also get the extended firing pin unless someone can give me a reason that might be a bad idea.
  8. Don't know if there are marks on the primer from light strikes as this happened in a match and I just pulled the trigger again and it fired in double action each time. I had pulled the firing pin about a month ago and cleaned the channel out completely. I had actually used brake cleaner to clean it out. Kept spraying it in there and used a Q-Tip until the fluid came out clear. How do you check the block to make sure it is working correctly?
  9. That is a good question. I bought the gun about a year ago and it was lightly used, so I am not sure. Is there a part number on the pin or an easy way to tell by looking? If I call CZ Custom would they be able to tell me from the serial number how they sold it? If it matters I am using Freedom Munitions 147gr new ammo, not the reloads.
  10. I have a CZ-75B with competition hammer and springs from CZ Custom that has worked flawlessly for me until recently. I have had occasions where in single action the hammer would come down but no kaboom. I would then pull the trigger again in double action and the round would fire. Never thought much about it, until this weekend as it was a random and rare occurrence. I had it happen on three out of four stages at an IDPA match this weekend. Was shooting in SSP so first shot was double, then the failure, then double and then it worked fine the rest of the stage in single action. I am assuming that perhaps the hammer spring might need replacing. Any other suggestions? If that what is involved in changing it out. What weight spring should I look to replace it with. If I have to tear it apart is there anything else I should be changing? Obviously if I can get a lighter trigger pull while at it that would be a positive as well.
  11. I tried 1.2.27 on two of my Kindle Fire HD6's and they are now able to see each other and transfer data with one another!!! YEA!
  12. I think someone who would accidentally hit the trigger while picking up a gun is equally likely to accidentally hit the trigger when drawing the gun. Loaded table starts are not at all unusual. Everyone I've seen specifies that the gun must be pointing downrange, so if an unsafe shooter does cook off a round, it will only be a match dq instead of something worse. Table start was not my concern, it was the fact that the gun was loaded in the box on the table. I think there is a much higher likelihood of someone accidentally grabbing the trigger taking it out of a box than just picking it up off the table. Especially that day when we had a lot of new shooters.
  13. I have tried this on my home wifi where there is no restriction on mac address or numbers of simultaneously connected devices. The only requirement is the long password. Not sure I know what you mean by connection isolation mode, but I don't think that is something I have turned on. It must be something with the way the software interfaces with the Kindles as I only have this issue going Kindle Fire HD6 to Kindle Fire HD6 not Kindle to non-kindle nor non-kindle to Kindle I'll email support and ask about 1.2.27
  14. What? No. 8.1.3.1 SSP 10 rounds 8.1.3.7 In SSP, ESP, CCP, and CDP, and semi-auto BUG the shooter will also start with one round in the chamber, unless the CoF description requires otherwise. The rules make no mention at all of where the gun is, when it specifies the +1. If the gun is loaded, unless the description specifically says differently, SSP will be 10+1 whether in the holster, on a table, or any place else. The ONLY time that wouldn't be true is if the description specifies an unloaded start (whereupon obviously you wouldn't have the +1) or for some reason the CoF requires a certain specific initial load amount. Thanks for correcting me, this is the trouble I get into shooting both IDPA and USPSA. Had a match this weekend where the gun started in a box and the stage description did not say anything about chamber empty. I considered this a dangerous situation as it seemed too easy for someone to accidentally hit the trigger while extracting the gun. The MD then said load it but don't rack it. I believe what I was thinking when I posted before is USPSA where it is only capacity+1 when holstered. Again thanks for the correction.
  15. When devices don't see each other I have tried to manually enter the sync code but that does not work. When I enter the device code for the known device (like 010F) and hit pull it says "loading match" but a few seconds later it will come back and say "Connection failed". Just turned on two of my devices and tried it and neither one will see the other, and manually entering the code gives the connection failed message. They are both on the same wifi network and are within a foot of each other. When I turn Practiscore on for my iPhone they both show that device and the iPhone shows both of them. Seems very strange. Any ideas what is going on?
  16. As said, there is no such thing as round dumping anymore; so this is a non-issue. I was at a match not long ago where there were two targets that you had to shoot with three rounds each in tactical sequence while retreating. After that you kept retreating and then had to go prone behind a wall and shoot three targets in tactical priority with two rounds each. Everybody either did a tactical reload from behind cover before going prone, or went to slide lock and then did a slide lock reload while in the prone position. I won the stage, beating much better shooters by taking a very different approach. After finishing the required six shots, I let five more go towards the last target starting an emergency reload while retreating to cover, thus being fully loaded for the next array.
  17. Rules are written to be broken Remember one of the jobs of the SO and MD is to be an ambassador for the sport. If you are a super hardass jerk about rules you are going to alienate new shooters, and without new shooters the sport will die. That said, I have no margin when it comes to safety issues - and that is the way it has to be. On the flip side if a new shooter shows up with mag pouches that have bullets facing out I am going to let him shoot. I'll explain the problem to him and tell him to bring the right stuff next time, but I am not going to stop him from shooting. I recall as a fairly new shooter I came to a match with a drop offset holster by mistake. The SO explained that it was not legal, but let me shoot the match. The only time I think you really need to be strict with some of this "petty" stuff at a club match is for a classifier match. Remember, most people at club level matches are there to have fun.
  18. You never really know what was in someone's mind. I was the SO at a match this weekend where I screwed up a stage. The stage was kind of strange in that it had three targets that you had to hit with two shots each in tactical sequence while retreating. You started at about one yard away and ALL shots had to be fired from retention. A buddy of mine did the stage firing 1-1-1 from retention but as he got further away he extended his arm. I obviously awarded him a PE. I shot about four shooters later, and did the same thing. I guess someone could have said I did this intentionally to gain an advantage, but the truth was I just screwed up. It just was so unnatural for me to shoot from retention once I was further away that my arm just naturally extended. I immediately knew I screwed up after the first non-retention shot, but at that point it was too late.
  19. One other possible explanation is less experienced shooters may be losing time in ESP disengaging their safeties.
  20. How could this not be an immediate DQ? Something is seriously wrong at this club for not issuing a DQ. There can be no margin when it comes to unsafe actions!
  21. That seems ok, but the camera must really distort things as it sure looks like the gun broke the 180 shooting that pop-up target where you see the people further back.
  22. Division capacity is capacity +1 when you start with the gun in the holster. If it is a loaded table start, or any other location than the holster then it is only division capacity with no plus 1. So as not to make a mistake as to which magazine might have 11 versus 10 I never load any to 11 ahead of time. I got to the line with two on my belt with 10 rounds and another one with 10 with an extra round in my hand that I insert into that magazine (mine typically hold 15) so that only just before the load and make ready command does the magazine actually have that +1 round.
  23. Well this sucks to hear, as I have five Kindle Fire HD6's that I use for IDPA matches. I have seen the "Kindle Fabric initializing" message, most typically when starting up and never thought much about it I as I have not had any issues after the short delay. The problem I am having with Practiscore Version 1.2.26 has to do with syncing the units. Often the Fires do not see each other on WiFi. I can hit the "funnel" or the refresh button as many times as I want but they refuse to list the other Kindles. They always see my 10" ASUS tablet and my iPhone 6+, just not each other. Sometimes, but very rarely, they see each other. They are all on the same Wifi, and transfer perfectly to and from the non-Kindle units, just not to each other. Has anyone else had such an issue? If so what is the fix?
  24. GOF - It is not saying anything about about not firing the specified number of rounds, it addresses stopping before finishing a course of fire when you still have ammo. For example if there were 6 targets requiring two shots each there would be no FTDR if for some reason you only fired 1 at target T3 (well a procedural and a down 5), you would only get the FTDR if you failed to engage the last target (or last two) when you had the ammo to do it.
  25. I was at a match when a new shooter received an FTDR for failure to fire at the last target. He had done poorly in the stage and after finishing two full magazines (third fully loaded still on his belt) he just looked to the SO and said something to the effect "Screw it, I'm done" The SO gave him the commands to unload show clear and holster and immediately awarded him the FTDR. When questioned he responded that while he did not want to do this, especially for a new shooter, he had to as that is the exact example that is used in the rule book as to when it is appropriate to award an FTDR. In the new rule book that just came out, section 3.6.6 states "If the shooter has ammo remaining, not reloading to fire the last one or more rounds in a stage is an automatic FTDR penalty."
