  1. Two of the three clubs I go to limit the number of people. Those two also have online sign ups, so if you plan ahead you don't risk showing up and being told its already full.
  2. Possession of a device that can feed more than 15 rounds is a crime in NJ. That said you are probably OK with your .40 cal 12 round magazine as long as you keep it away from your 9mm gun. Once you insert it into the gun or even load one round of 9mm ammo into it I think you could be opening yourself up to some serious legal issues. Remember that unlike some places, handguns are strictly illegal in NJ except by specific exemptions.
  3. Wow thanks for the quick feedback. Maybe I'll give the 1911 a try anyway, but nice to know I don't have to worry about having a bad day if I go with the Beretta 92FS or Glock G22. Thanks.
  4. I have two 1911's and love them, but why would I want to shoot .45 acp versus 9mm for IDPA? For USPSA I can shoot them as major power factor, but for IDPA I think it better to stick with 9mm, or am I missing something? As for squeezing the trigger as you are drawing and pushing out would you not get the finger warning as you are doing this before you are on target?
  5. I'm a fairly new shooter and recently classified as marksman in SSP. If I shoot another classifier in a few weeks and don't do as well do I fall back to novice or do I keep the higher rank? What about if I shoot it with my 1911, does that impact my SSP rating?
  6. the 12-round 40 mags from mecgar work awesome in the 9mm gun (and vise versa, they are the same mag except for the location of the holes). They will hold 17 rds of 9mm, but they are labeled to hold 12 rounds. Not sure what the legal issues might be. Thankfully I don't have to care. I believe in The PR of NJ that earns you two years in a cell with Bubba
  7. Remember here in the people's republic of NJ, handguns are totally illegal except by specific exemptions. If what you want to do is not spelled out in an exemption then it is not legal.
  8. I want to do that because I am less accurate in double action mode. That is the one thing I don't like about my Beretta 92FS, and with that there is no way to safely shoot cocked and locked as there is no safety. I have shot my Glock G22 in Limited 10, but I guess I have an advantage there as it is scored a major power factor versus production where I effectively get penalized shooting major and being scored as minor.
  9. OK thanks. Limited 10 I would think would be fine. I am in NJ so limited is a max of 15 anyway - you go directly to jail for even having a 21 round mag.
  10. Is there any reason you would not want to shoot ESP rather than SSP? Is there some disadvantage to shooting ESP? I recently purchased a CZ-75B (safety, no decocker) and would rather shoot cocked and locked. Also I am concerned that under match pressure I might possibly risk an unintended discharge if my finger slipped while manually decoking. Further I have noticed when practicing decocking manually that sometimes it goes to partially cocked rather than decocked.
  11. There should be. I shot at a match not long ago that still had a Texas Star and I hit the first plate four times with my 9mm 147 grain round before it would fall.
  12. Thanks. Is there a reason I would want to shoot in production rather than limited-10 or limited?
  13. I recently purchased a CZ-75B (safety, no decocker) and am confused as to what class I can shoot this in. In stock or production can I shoot it cocked and locked or do I have to manually decock it and shoot double action. If the latter, what category do I need to participate in to shoot cocked and locked.
  14. I feel your pain, I have the same. I am getting faster, but still not fast enough. The problem I have with my Glock is the feel of the trigger to reset. I take too long to only go to reset to refire rather than let me finger come all the way off and repress the trigger.
  15. I'm familiar with this behavior. I too do the same, but each time I use a spoon I immediately drop it on the floor and reach for a new one
  16. You may not have mag parts that can be expanded when out of state. All mags must be permanently pinned or blocked to 15 rounds max. That said, you can order all the non-compliant stuff you want if it is shipped directly to an FFL who then makes it compliant before they let you take possession of it. If yours does not do this get back with me as I know of several that will do that for you.
  17. That is nice to know, I hate the stock sights on my glock G22.
  18. eerw- Mine is 9mm Warpspeed - I ordered two from Natchezss but was not aware of the 15 day return policy. Should have them next Monday so I guess we will see then.
  19. Are the ProMags ok? I had heard they should be avoided.
  20. Actually I believe they used to make 15 round mags but have stopped for some strange reason. Seems odd as until this year only NJ had a 15 round limit but now CO does also.

    CZ-75B magazines

Does anyone know where I can get some decent 15 round magazines for a CZ-75B. I live in the people's republic of NJ where you get to go to state prison if you have the standard 16 round magazine for this gun. Thanks.

    G35 to G34?

If you use a conversion barrel there should be no need to change the ejector, that is the difference between a conversion barrel and a plain barrel. The conversion barrel is off-set to the left so that the straight ejector hits the 9mm casing correctly. If it is a gen4 you will need to get a G34 recoils spring as well. I have done this with my G22 to shoot 9mm and it works perfectly with the KKM conversion barrel and G17 spring.
  23. I have a G22 with a KKM 9mm conversion barrel and tried a friend's G34 the other day, I did not find it any more accurate. He also had the really long 9mm Glock, forget the model number and THAT one was more accurate, but I don't think its legal for IDPA or USPSA - good for steel shooting.
  24. Yea it sucks to suck, I know - cause I suck too! Never touched a hand gun till this past January at age 55. Started doing IDPA and USPSA matches in June. First match I managed a DQ, learned a lot from that. My biggest problem is I tend to be a perfectionist, so I am too darn slow as I waste time making sure I am being very accurate. Shot a USPSA match yesterday and while I was not last I was close to last. My hits were better than many of the people in the top 10, but my time sucked. But, I am improving. This time my match points were about 50% of the top, while last time they were about 25%. I tried a static steel match last week which I found helped me concentrate on speed, as it does not matter where you hit as long as the hit is heard. I think I just need to concentrating on pulling the trigger as soon as the sights get there rather than working on the perfect sight picture.
