I think this was brought up after a few shooters had ran through and it was found out that a marksman had that low of a score instead of right there at the line as soon as he was done shooting.

According to the RO that ran the stage along with other RO's at the match, a prominent shooter was beaten by a marksman on the stage. The prominent shooter said there was noway a marksman could beat him on that stage and that the RO for that stage must not have kept up with the shooter on the run to the barricade. Therefore the timer didn't pick up the shooters last shots. The marksman shot two shots at both targets getting the shoot throughs and was down zero on both targets. The prominent shooter did the same and was down 1. The prominent shooter told the marksman to reshoot the stage wich the marksman said no. I wouldn't reshoot the stage either and take a chance on getting a lesser score. So complaints lead to the stage being thrown out. There was probably a lot of truth to what the prominent shooter said about the RO not keeping up with the shooter and registering the shots on the timer and it could have happened on other shooters as well. The way it was presented to me by the RO was more like the Prominent shooter was whining about being beaten by a marksman on a stage rather than saying it was unfair to all the other shooters because it could have happened more than once. I sure hope that wasn't the reason because I have a lot of respect for the prominent shooters ability but that was how several match officials conveyed it to me and to others around me.

JD45 you must shoot in Spartanburg...lol I don't like card stages either. Especially mixing in tactical sequence in with it. It's always shoot the card/target you turn over first or last or that suit is a non threat. The big reason I don't like it is because it's not the same for everybody. One person gets to hose 3 targets in order while another person has to skip a target.

From a gamers point of view I like the 15 to 18 round count stages. The 6 round stages are fun and can be challenging but just about everybody shoots those stages within a couple of seconds of each other. I like the longer stages because you can make up or gain time on other competitors there. As far as how the stages are laid out I agree with how Ted Murphy summed it up.

Well I would have to say that I enjoyed the match.My first indication that is was going to be fun was when they had free beer for you when you registered at the Ambassador Inn the night before the match.The match T-shirts were nice and the official meal of IDPA (bbq) was the best I have ever had at a match. Stage one with the standards seemed to be the match maker or breaker for a lot of people. I have also never seen the awards being handed out so soon after the completion of the match. I think some other clubs need to find out how you guys did that. I figured it would be a while so as soon as the match was over I went to the store a couple of miles away and came back and missed them giving out the plaque for where I finished....lol...Lot's of prizes were given out and I ended up with a $25 off certificate for the Tn State Match in October. So that's the perfect excuse to make the trip back. Met a lot of shooters from Kentucky,Indiana,and Alabama that were super nice as well. The RO's were real friendly and very helpful. No range Nazis even if they had to give somebody a procedural. Would maybe have like there to been one though for the one guy in my squad that wanted to argue about something with the RO on every stage.They do need to put a safe area near the parking lot. I didn't find out where the safe area was until after the match and everybody I saw before and after the match in the parking lot were putting their gun on or taking it off there. Tell Kurt he ran an excellent match and it was worth the 6 hours it took us to get there from SC. Mike

I along with three other shooting buddies from SC will be there. We didn't pre register since it was a last minute decision to shoot the match.It will be my first trip to a match there. How many shooting bays do you have there? I heard from people that shot there before that you shoot half the match in the morning and tear down the stages and set up new ones after lunch. But I think I read somewhere that you had a new range with more room now. Mike

I shot the SC IDPA State Championship last weekend. It was shot under the new rules and nobody complained about it. You really couldn't tell a difference. The only equipment check that was done (which was done on stage 10 right before they made 10 shooters hot at a time) was to make sure your concealment garment covered the mag pouches and holster and while doing that they made sure that the mag pouch and holster were where it was supposed to be on the belt. They didn't get down on hands and knees and check for slivers of light. There was a few people that could tell a difference though and that was on stage 9 of the match. It ate peoples lunch with failures to neutralize. Two 3's or a miss and a 3 down really hurts . So that was really the only effect the new rules had there. Mike

They are in the process of making a new website. I know the guy making the new website and he has met all kinds of resistance with the person (Not Bill or Joyce)who monitors the existing site. That person evidently didn't want the new site and has quit checking the emails that are associated with the site. I know if you email Joyce Wilson she will respond back to you. If her address isn't on the old site I can get it for you .

One thing that was changed with this FTN vs the LGB FTN is that two -3 doesnt give you enough points to avoid the FTN as it used to do. I think that is why they changed it. It just wasn't worded very well.

I have a Blackhawk Concealment Holster. There is no daylight in the belt loop channel and it makes the grip of the gun touch my side with no gap at all. However the holster itself is attached to the belt loop part by three screws and you can see daylight between those two points. Even though its not part of the belt loop channel I still think a RO at a sanctioned match might not see it that way and tell me it is illegal. I sent an email to IDPA HQ asking what they think but i'm sure they are still getting loads of emails so I haven't gotten a response yet.

Practiced today and was double carefull to take my time with my Glock 17 with Henie sights instead of the Dawsons. Don't know why I never noticed this before but with that gun it is dead on at 10 and 15 yards slightly high at 20 yards and real high at 25 yards. So I shot faster calling my shots and adjusted my point of aim to the 6 o'clock postion of the paperplate I was shooting at. All shots were then in the center. I feel so stupid for not thinking of that sooner. So its either the front sight is to tall and i need to file it down some or the crimp is to tight on my reloads.

Flex , I think your probably right about me shifting my vision at the last millisecond before the bullet actually leaves the barrel . I have Dawson fiber optic front sight on my Glock 35 and I believe what I do is watch the red dot lift out of the notch rather than the tip of the front sight. I think the next time I practice this week all I am going to just practice at 20 and 25 yards and watch the top of the front sight.

When I shoot I pay attention to this especially during slow fire. In slow fire or rapid fire I never notice that the sight moves from where I want the bullet to hit when the gun fires. If they do I know i missed. This works great for me on targets that are 15 yards or closer, but on 20 yard targets im ok most of the time but not all the time. On 25 yard targets I will have hits on the target not where I aimed. I dont know why because I'm not flinching but it has to have something to do with my trigger control. It never shows up in dry fire either (the sights dipping down) I don't know what to do to improve my accuracy at 25 yards.

What do you do to teach yourself how to do this? It would be great for me at 25 yards on a D-1 target if I could hit the x ring the majority of the time. But out of 10 shots at least 4 of them will be outside all the rings.

I ordered the Massod Ayoob Stress Fire video series from Magill's company. It took weeks to get them and they werent out of stock. Every time I called about the status of my order I got the run around from customer service. I don't know about the Glock videos but I know I won't order from him again.

THAT'S IT !!!!! I'm shooting IDPA with a clipdraw from now on. No 3/4 in gap or daylight issues. Wonder how well that would go over?

I know nobody wants to buy new equipment but a thicker belt would solve the daylight in the belt loop part of the holster problem. As long as it was still the 1 3/4 width from top to bottom. That is if people with holster problems like that still even want to compete in IDPA anymore.

I had the same complaint about that rule on Glock Talk. I think it was Mark P. that told me on there that the reasons the SO's do that was because thats what the rule was in the little redbook (the predecessor to the LGB). Having to be 100% behind cover. But the redbook was before my IDPA time. I have asked this questions to SO's before but they say if you do it you get a PE. I hope the next IDPA rulebook that's scheduled for release in the year 2020 addresses that. Mike

I have seen in the Vanek where there is a couple of set screws in the trigger mechanism housing (as an over travel stop)in the slot where edge of the cruciform is between them. Can somebody tell me how you drill holes in there and they be straight to install the set screws?

I agree with that. I shoot with a guy that does it and it works great for him as far as shooting speed and accuracy. I can't do it though because my index finger will wrap all the way around and be in the way of my trigger finger and my index finger will come off the trigger guard in rapid fire.
