  1. Here's the finished product. Cleaned up nicely. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  2. I have a set I took off of a 19. Tried them on 17 and took them off. They look great and are high. Also threw poi below target. Maybe it was my load, Don't know, didn't bother chasing that one. Look four them in the classifieds soon. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  3. Just got done cleaning it up. Pretty significant pitting under grip area. Wiped it down with dichropan t4 after a thorough wire brush beat down. Gotta dip some more work before it's ready to slay the plates, racks. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  4. Nailed it. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  5. Pdp4? was a big one. Think 40mm+. I like tube sights as they are easier for me to find the dot. I'm going to take a c-more mount off of Atlas's hands though. Didn't really want to dump a bunch of $ into this gun but I see no way around it. Not sure what to set my budget at really. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  6. If you wouldn't worry about it then I won't. I'll shoot you a pm. I'd like a different mount. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  7. Great, no issues. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  8. It does indeed have some mileage on it. No ridges on the lugs. Touching up the slide blue this evening, doing frame tomorrow. It's mostly just for fun, informal steel shooting, and learning the ropes of competition. Barrels are apparently costly and hard to find for these things. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  9. Got the gun for cheap, had hopes for it other than the cosmetics and visible issue of grip screw and grips. Went through the top end derusting and cleaning up. Got barrel cleaned up when I noticed the back side of barrel lugs don't look right. Front look good and square, back side, not so much. Hopefully the picks can do the talking. They look peened, quite uniformly too. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  10. I've got a set on my 17c. Like them much better than the Taran Tactical ones I had on it. Shot 2 ft low at 25yds. The ameriglo are spot on. Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  11. A single stack with full steel rails interests me. I am only one person though.
  12. It's a really nifty platform. The comp ids required to slow the slide down. Certainly helps with recoil management as well. I'm torn between building a single stack in Rowland or just buying a Blackhawk in 45 colt....
  13. Usually the 2 piece rods are a little bit longer than 1 piece ones. That necessitates taking it apart to disassemble the gun. If yours is, be sure to shorten it before install.
  14. Thanks for the info! That other barrel is a nowlin in 38 super that someone cut too short. Picked it up diet cheap as an experiment. The ramp on the bar-sto looks to be short when compared to the nowlin. Will pick up some 9mm mags to try out if Bruce gives it the go ahead in the fi tting dept.
  15. Ok so I took a gamble on a nice bar-sto 9mm barrel, think I lost. My gun is in 38 super, frame is cut for a nowlin ramp (thanks to braxton1). Looking at it, I think it is the bar-sto type ramp but can't find any references to verify it. My questions are: what ramp is it, can it be fit to my frame? Amy help is appreciated. The barrel in? Is on left with the curved radius under ramp. Thanks!
  16. Given the round count on it, I'd say it's got plenty more to do for you. No way will you get anywhere close to what you've spent on it back if you sell it. I would quit pouring money into it though, put the$ into a bank account to spend on a custom. I would keep checking the classifieds on here, as nice ones come up that may fill many of your wants. If you wanted front serrations, why didn't you buy a loaded model?
  17. Oh man I choked so bad on reloads for several rounds. Yeah I've ruin into mags not seating, then falling out. Worst was missing magwell all together! It was priceless. Nothing more embarrassing than having mag glance off the side of gun, go flying. That was 15 years ago, I can laugh about it now. I was way clumsy then. I still suck with moon clips in a revolver though. I don't even bother with them anymore...
  18. I believe in doing that. That's about how we did it in the army. Sight in at 25, good for center mass to 300. We had a2s then....
  19. Good write up. Enjoyed reading it. I recently bought a ro myself. Honestly it looks and feels like a stripped down loaded model. If they really are fit like a trp, I'm never buying a trp! It seems to have good bones though. It should serve me well for my purposes at least. If I ever feel that it is holding me back then I will look for a frame up custom.
  20. Thanks. I knew it happened quickly, just want sure if the lighter slide was enough throw it off.
  21. Will that mag catch work in the double stack line of bul pistols too?
  22. My novice theory is to switch to lighter bullet weight. The little bit of weight reduction may be causing the bullet to exit barrel while slide is unlocking. In my pea brain this sounds logical. Without the barrel being in full lock up as the bullet exits, it's semi free to point the bullet in a different direction. Too far off base? I reckon a spring change could slow the slide down though. Wouldn't that counter act the training for lightening slide in the first place though?
  23. I recently got an old bul m5 double stack 9mm for a really good price. I'm considering building a top end in 45acp for it. Any foreseeable issues? I've heard of puerile having issues going the other way, but can turn up nothing on the direction I'm taking. Thanks! Disregard. Will keep it 9mm
  24. Can't fault you one bit. The 10mm is an outstanding and flexible round. If I hadn't already sold off all of my components and dies, I would build another one. The only round I can think of that compares in flexibility is the 45lc in a ruger or similarly built six gun.
