  1. Actually I needed you guys also, because they wouldn't do a special run unless I could order a dozen or more. Hogue acknowledged the order and set it up processing "Very Good Claude. I will get this order entered in to the system and get it out asap." Regards; Ken Hogue Inc.
  2. Just heard from Mikey357 and he's in. So that is everybody I'll place order ASAP. Will PM everybody when I get them. 3. I don't think I've ever seen a 40 single stack 1911 style gun used at any of clubs I shoot. Isn't single stack limited to 45"s???
  4. I have PC625 5" tuned with JM spring kit and powers bearings, nice gun. So I decide to take the Randy lee plunge. I shoot factory ammo mostly wolff, so the caps are fairly hard. What I found was the decrease in lock time is amazing, the release point on trigger is sooner, so there is more free travel after the release. The decrease in hammer weight allowed me to back off my strain screw and lower my DA pull. I found the angle cut on the DA sear/arm was greater than my factory unit. I found this also contributed to a nicer feel of the beginning part of the DA pull. The unit was finished nicely and would drop right in and yield a decent pull. However I finished all my surfaces with my ceramic stone till you can see yourself. Then it got Slick. I'm a happy camper So is a TI cylinder worth it.
  5. A double stack 40 has the edge in typical USPA hose fest match's if you looking for running with the big dogs. I give up a little with Para45. Sometimes to 2/3 round capacity can make the difference. I don't see much difference in recoil of 40 and 45 if you reload yourself. If you run factory ammo the 40 again gains
  6. I'm one of guys who does not like a lot of white on both sides. Just a little. That way if I'm off some that side winks out and turns black. It also depends on how steady you can hold the gun. If your shakes cause the white to wink out, you need more. I don't understand the comment out blocking out the head shot. My guns are sighted so the shot hits target like period over a dash at 25 yards. That assumes I'm doing my part. Also not a big fan of fiber front sight, to me it changes size with amount of light available. Thus changes my elevation because where do you put the dot in rear notch. Plus distracts from concentration on placing the top of front sight level with top or rear sight. So what i've done is use a small rod and let it get dirty. That way it helps find the front sight against dull backgrounds and pull it into the rear notch asap. But since it small/dirty it doesn't glow, distract, or change sizes. When I was young and didn't need bifocals non of this mattered. But now that I'm and old fart and can't see. I've had to get my glasses setup so the dominant eye is focused on front sight and other on infinity. Took awhile for my brain to learn use the other eye to see the target. But if your looking at the target your wasting time. As JM stay focused on that front sight. IMHO
  7. What's that old rule, don't believe anything you hear, 25% of what you read and only 50% of what you see.
  8. If your into finding your rifles potential, and seeing how small a group you can shoot. Then reload. If a 1.5 2" group at 100 yards is OK then by the steel case stuff and save your back. For those occasional 300/400 yard shots by some blackhills reloads.
  9. I have simple rule about 30 holes is where I toss them. So look at round count and number of expected shooters. Then do the math. Now painted hardcover targets, that say only allow head shots will need to be replaced with 15 shots. Just look at targets from any given match and you'll get idea how many rounds before the mush factor creeps in.
  10. Still haven't heard from Mike357 and Bob McGee. Sent PM's and Email???? Will order Friday if I don't here from them by then I'll consider them a drop.
  11. Have you bevel the inside of the tang so that it is larger. usually a ball cutter on a Dremel. Also use the loctite cleaner acclerator. Don't heat the slide it could twist on you. Get somebody to cut a dovetail. Dawson did mine.

  13. I was just planning on the post office parcel post, don't weigh much and won't be fragile. So I'm guessing $3.00 for one grip may $4 for two. But let me go to USPS page and find out. Does anybody already know? I went and checked on shipping. I'm in Florida so I looked at shipping to Buffalo Ny and LA Calif. and prices quoted will work. I got all the PM sents had to do one at time, but back button helped.
  14. Just got a response from the Hogue guy. He wants $45.00 instead of $40.00 because he has to change the computer programs. I will do the $15.00 off retail which is a little better then dealer price using your FFL. 14 total Goncalo NO F/G with no perimeter as requested. $44.95 each 2 Cocobolo NO F/G with no perimeter as requested. $54.95 Shipping will be $5.00 (this is a flat dealer shipping cost for this quantity) UPS Total with shipping $744.20 So I need to here if the $5.00 causes anybody to drop out. ps Is there a way to send one PM to mulitple people????
  15. Thank you!!!! Anybody survey the equipment lists????
  16. Hose fest, yep! But lets face it there are two camps. The fun only shooters, and those that see it as practice for something more important. Make the match too hard and they will bitch. and you'll lose shooters. So we usually figure on only a couple of targets per match that are really challenging. That way the C/D shooters will only have a couple of drops. Now hosers want to use those expensive guns so you have to give them something to really blast away at. So we usually throw in a 30 round stage with lots of movement for that group. Me I'm in camp of I like tough shots, and courses that leave a lot up to the shooters. Rather than from box A engage blah ......
  17. Several different rounds are being wildcat'ed based on 30 Remington brass. The 6.8 is based on this. That way you can buy bolts and PMI mags without too much trouble. One fella did a 6mm. They are also fiddling with moving the gas port further down the barrel and heavy carriers to delay the unlocking. Krieger sells different length gas tubes. Some people are real picky, buy blank then locate gas port so it falls in a groove, then drill and finish lap the barrel, then chamber.
  18. Should have all the info and order placed later today. Thanks
  19. I'd like to see the overall finish or combine finish rankings. That way I can compare how a tactical did against a open or limited on any given stage. Do they post them that way anywhere??? Any equipment list yet?
