Are coated bullets good for shooting out of a PCC or not?

I read that some people using them in custom loads and some people are shooting 130gr Federal Syntech.  I'm worried about the plastic coating eroding before it exits the barrel and lead building up on the inside and on the comp.

Apparently coated bullets will lead up the compensator faster than jacketed/plated bullets.

I have the competition model with the Volquartsen clamp on comp so it was very long and looked a bit silly dangling from the Guga Ribas holster bit it held up fine

I'm having real trouble setting it up. I have the Tandemkross victory trigger, and it just feels like it's too big and getting in the way of the passive locking mechanism that pops up when you push the trigger guard against the two white screws. Do you have the factory Ruger trigger?

That's why I was asking. Just recently I bought a 92x Performance Ghost Hydra + holster from Lynda Turnbull and asked if she was still shooting for Beretta. She didn't respond to that question. I know she was having extractor issues in one of her first matches with the 92X.

She appears to have switched to a Taran tactified Glock 34

  4. I'm going to fit them to my Phoenixes. Now that Phoenix offer them as a factory part, it can be used for IPSC production. I've had a few instance where my support hand thumb was bumping the safety up during recoil.

  5. Great writeup and video.

For the very last target of the last stage, are you sure you were looking at a precise spot in the middle of the headbox?

A great drill I saw from Ben Stoeger for practicing El Prez style target presentations is to set up three targets like an El Prez. Start with a bill drill on one target. Record your overall time and split times. Then try and shoot that same time but with two on each target instead. Even though you're shooting two per target and transitioning, the transitions should be so seamless that it sounds just like you're bill drilling 6 shots onto one target.

  6. The definition of 'engaging a target' literally says the target has to be within view ,and not through walls or other barriers/obstacles except for soft cover.

Barrels are to be considered hard cover unless otherwise stipulated in the WSB. Therefore, hard to argue that that this wasn't a FTSA.

When I switched from Lim to CO I was entirely aware that I needed to be target focused and not look at my dot like it’s a front sight post.

I knew it, I was aware of it, and yet it still took me a good bit of time before I could do it. It’s an oddly significant adjustment for my brain to make, but after a few matches and a lot of dryfire it clicked

others here have told you to put tape over your dot to occlude it and force target focus, I’ll add my name to that list too, it helps massively.

Do you shoot iron sights anymore? If so, did you find it useful to switch back to iron sights with all of the target focus stuff you learned shooting with an optic?

US shooters going to an IPSC match should inquire as to chrono procedures, if any.   A couple IPSC major matches I shot there was a chrono that you went to whenever convenient, but it wasn't in the stage rotation like it is at a USPSA match so some US shooters almost missed it and got zero-scored.

    That's useful to know thanks

At most IPSC Matches on my side of the world, the chrono is rarely done. It is listed in the invitation etc. but only done if there is reason to suspect that somebody is underpowered. It may be different at major Matches with Championships and significant loot at stake.

As per Annex I of the rulebook, chronograph is only mandatory at Level 4 and 5s, so basically continental/world championships.

I just ordered a Redback Heavy Da-sa for IPSC, not that big a fan of race holsters, seen to many guns drop tonte concrete, has anyone tried to fit the DAA max holster for shadow 2 or the tanfoglio III on a redback?

The Redback will not fit a DAA max holster

In theory, prep is not needed.  With a perfect grip, you can pull the trigger with or without prep and not disturb the sights.  Prep is a CYA for a sub optimal grip.  With the speed we shoot at and the perfect grip being something we always chase, I find it wise to add prep on more difficult shots.  I drop queues on parts of the stage that require a bit more prep.  Work towards needing it less by building a more optimal grip for not disturbing the sights when pulling the trigger.

    Thanks champ!

  12. Interesting, the rules say this:

    10.2.2

A competitor who fails to comply with the procedure specified in the written stage briefing will incur one procedural penalty for each occurrence. However, if a competitor has gained a significant advantage during non- compliance, the

competitor may be assessed one procedural penalty for each shot fired, instead of a single penalty (e.g. firing multiple shots contrary to the required position or stance).

    10.2.2.1

Procedural penalties for failure to comply with stage procedures do not apply to the number of shots fired. Penalties for firing insufficient or additional shots are addressed in other rules and must not be penalized under the provisions of 10.2.2

Speaking as an IPSC shooter reading the USPSA rulebook, you guys have some weird rules. 🙈

I am curious how it performs in IPSC with the adaptor

I am curious how it performs in IPSC.  I assume it can be run in Open category with USPSA and even without the comp it seems like it might run as flat as a pure racer…thoughts?

    Shooting minor in Open though...

Well, the current world IPSC champion in Open and multi-time USPSA champion posted his thoughts on the topic about 10 posts ago...

True, but he also posted this 3 years ago. Technique can change a lot in that time.

  15. I suspect when the very high level shooters talk about "prepping the trigger", they are just talking about taking a bit more time to ensure their sights are aligned/dot is stable on the part of the target they want to hit. And it is reserved only for those high difficulty/high risk shots.
