  1. After using a Redding GRX I find that if I use a universal de-capping die in station one, the cases look more like new ammunition. With both a Lee and Redding re sizing die, if adjusted to the plate I get left with quite a marked ring where the case has been sized to about. 417. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
  2. 4.8 of N320 with a Bayou 180 GN works well in my SVI 5 inch sight tracker. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  3. Crash... Leaving the cases straight or still with a slight indent. Some pictures of cases show perfect straight sides. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  4. If it's not too much trouble could someone with this die post the measurements of the middle and bottom of the case where it has been sized? Looking to see if my coke bottle type rounds can be cured. Thanks Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  5. Ok. Have the Lee die and tried a few cases. It still sized the case down to 417 of an inch and left a slight ring. I guess I will just adjust the die upwards until the ring no longer is that visible. The Redding dies are new models. This is both a cosmetic issue and one where I did not want to put stress on my brass in case of future failure. Thanks for the replies. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks again . I will give the Lee a try and order a dual ring to compare it to. Do you still use the GRX as well as the dual ring? Sent from my LG-V700 using Tapatalk
  7. Many thanks, will order one today. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  8. Looking for some pointers.. I size all my brass through a GRX sizing die. I have adjusted my Redding Carbide sizing die as per the instructions to just touch the shell plate of my 650. The die is sizing down the case to. 416 of an inch and creating a ring. I called Redding and they suggested I just use the die to size the top half of each case. With the de capping pin adjusted down as far as it can go I am sizing just the top 30% of the case. They told me that. 417 is within tolerance for the die as it needs to allow the brass the be sized small to be belled to seat the bullet. The results are reasonable and shoot well, it's just my aesthetic sensibilities are damaged by this slight coke bottle effect of some parts of the case being sized down to. 417. I asked Redding about the dual carbide ring die but the technician suggested that I would still need the GRX push through die also. Open to any thoughts. I have a U-die but prefer not to under size the brass for. 40. I love my Redding micrometer dies but it seems that to have a die just to size the top 30% seems a bit odd. 9. I have both , ordered the cheaper one and put it in the draw until the new press arrived. Opened them up and installed it in a powder bar. There was so much slop that made it useless. Emailed Big Bike parts and was told it was outside the return period and tough..... I tried shimming it with copper wire and a drop of solder which seems to reduce the slop to an acceptable level. My Uniqueteck has been excellent since day one. I'm sorry I went with the cheaper option. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Just been working up a load with my ideal powder - N340! What a disappointment. 5.5 grain @180 GN Bayou Bullets TC only got me a factor of 140 (1.20OAL) despite what the Vihtavouri tables suggest. Will try out the N320 that I have Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  11. Am using the BB 180 TCG and first stop is the Redding Push through die on a basic Lee press before using the 650. I was toying with the idea of getting a UniqueTek solo conversion and having the GRX die in that. With the small press it just seems such an effort. Given as the 650 is a great press I think it might be a good option. Lots of people here in Spain only use these bulge buster dies on finished rounds that don't chamber check. I prefer to prepare my brass before hand. Using a Redding on all stages but the crimp, where a Lee FCD die is. Redding seating die is not leaving any rings. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk I
  12. Perfect. Thanks. It was a very tight fit without the radius so I guess that will now be much easier. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  13. Am fitting an Aftec to an SVI double stack , I have seen that it is suggested to radius the plate edges to allow for sufficient movement of the extractor within the tunnel. I just want to confirm by radius , it means round down both edges on the right side of the plate that run vertically ! Any advice appreciated. Thanks Mark Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Raised up the die by one turn and the ring vanished. Case guages perfectly. Many thanks Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks , i will turn the die up a turn and see if they are still there. I was just worried i was weakening the case in some way.
  16. The cases fit nicely in a case guage after the GRX and the sizing die. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  17. Setting up a Dillon 650 dedicated to 40S&W. Brand new brass from Starline and Redding Dies in all stations. All the cases are showing a ring which is I guess where the the sizing die finishes it's travel. It is set as per manufacturer's instructions so that it just touches the shell plate. I have also put some fired cases through the GRX sizing die and then the Dillon with the same tell tale ring. Surely this ring is a sign that all is not well! I would be grateful for any tips or pointers. Am fairly competent in 9mm but a newbie in this calibre. Thanks Mark Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  18. I gave them the benefit of the doubt! I figured perhaps after 2 weeks I had been too hasty. So I thought I would see if it was a one off event. It seems they are in no RUSH, so nothing lost as I have not been charged! Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk
  19. I ordered an Aftec extractor for a very good price of 64.95$ including shipping. That was 3 weeks ago, I have emailed and asked about the order but nothing. No money has been taken so I'm not out of pocket but just wondering should I order from my usual websites. I had the same thing happen about 6 months ago and after about 3 weeks of silence I asked them to answer the email or cancel the order. I received an order cancelled email! I must be a glutton for punishment as I ordered again. In this day and age, a lack of comms is just not acceptable. Sent from my LG-H815 using Tapatalk Edited to remove company name and link. 20. lots of my friends have SPS pistols, I have been to see the store in Barcelona and wasnt impressed. I have SV and STI and the SPS just didnt seem to be anywhere near the quality of the STI. Check out the SVI scepter if you like 1911 stlye, with a 6 inch barrel its amazing for precision. I also have a Shadow Viper which is half CZ and half german gunsmith . It is my favorite pistol for 25 m target work. Check it out http://www.waffen-oschatz.de/CZ_75_SP01_Viper.html
  21. I am now in my 25 month for my SV..Im in Spain. Brandon told me that the pistol was complete in May and should ship out in November!!!You guys are so lucky at 12-15 months! The importer waits till they have a large enough shipment. Luckily I have one already/
  22. As per the instructions , lightly sanded the hole remove the coating. Just a few strokes with a rolled up bit of sand paper and the micrometer was slightly lose in the hole. A few drops of the included liquid and it was rock solid. Its a great option if you load different bullets with the same powder .
  23. Keep adjusting the depth of the groove till the shell plate just rubs slightly against the plate. The shell plate will compress the rubber and provide just enough friction to stop the powder dance. It feels dampened - is the only way to describe the way the press now operates.
  24. My pins are #3 and are put in station 3 - 9mm shell plate.
