  1. As regards working up loads with different OAL, is it best to drop from; 1.125 1.115 1.005 I was using 4.7 GNs at 1.125 so if I drop to 4.6 or less for the reduction of 10/1000's of an inch. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
  2. Yes- good idea! I will just extend the tubes upward the same amount again to hold 200 and that will more than cover my weekly needs. Just need to measure the holes on my return. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
  3. A couple of pictures of the extractor. I hope it helps.
  4. I will work up some loads when I get a chance--- have bought a cheap rest to use. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - now Free
  5. How does wet tumbled brass compare with brass from an ultra sonic cleaner?
  6. I am away from the gun till Friday. I am also not familiar with the old model. I will take a picture when I get home and you can tell me if they have.
  7. Ok. I'm an addict. Have the CZ. The new X5 (2013) and a dillon 650! There is no helping me I just have to start collecting. Thanks for all the advice.
  8. I have just taken delivery of the mini mr bullet feeder so I don't have a spare slot on the station. I now watch each case to see it has powder in it so I hope never to repeat the mistake.
  9. I did try to use my trigger finger but its a habit that I have not learned to do. With my Shadow I am used to the standard method. Thanks for the advice on polishing and trimming the sear. I have watched the GGI video and will look closely at smoothing it out.
  10. Just unpacked the Mini Mr BF and have not had a chance to set it up yet My first impression... what a lot of money for so little! I am sure it will work perfectly but in my mind it just seems like not a lot for 140$. Perhaps I am out of touch with reality but when I opened the box i was surprised at the contents and a little bit disappointed. Just expected a little more for the $.
  11. Thanks for that. Ordering the tumbler and media.
  12. i have a 124 Gn RN FMJ bullet at 4.7 Grains of Vectan BA9. The OAL is 1.125 and the PF is 131. If I drop down to 1.15, roughly how much should i reduce the load? I am planning on experimenting to improve accuracy but would love a ball park figure.
  13. Thanks for all the information. I think I will give it a try.
  14. Guys- so tempting to get on the band wagon of the shiny brass club. As someone with OCD I can see the attraction, I have the time to do it as I only shoot about 150 rounds per week. I may just go the economical route and pick up the HF rock tumbler and give it a try. The only possible downside I have found seems to be the leaching of the zinc from the cases. I shoot 9mm in production at a PF of 125-130 so am pretty easy on the cases but that seems the only negative.
  15. Just hit a thread about dezincification! After I found the idea of the Harbour Freight rock tumbler- what a bargain. Need to read more.
  16. That is incredible! I will have a look at this method.
  17. I did not know if the residue on the inside would affect the outcome and as I am striving to make the best rounds I can thought I would put it to the forum. Thanks for the replies.
  18. I have tumbled the brass for about 3 hours using the media that came with the Lyman tumbler and a bit of Nupolish as recommended on the forum. I can still see burnt powder residue on the inside of the case and primer pocket, is this acceptable or is more tumbling required? The case were tumbled with the old primer still in position. Primers are seating well. Thanks
  19. Ok, thanks. Just re read the instructions and it says to tighten, then back off a little. I was just worried that I had a bolt that was not tensioned tightly enough , but it indexes well.
  20. To get the shell plate to rotate as normal the bolt can only be adjusted to about finger tight. When I use the Allen key to tighten it just a bit, the shell plate does not rotate completely on indexing. Is this correct? Thanks
  21. Redding competition seating die and Lee FCD on back order so will have to wait till they arrive. Will have the U die next week to give it a try. All in the name of research!
  22. I have a relatively small failure rate with the Dillon sizing die when it comes to chamber checks, perhaps 5%.This being caused by cases that are bulged too much around the bottom , where the Dillon doesn't seem to reach. The EGW u die is back in stock in 9mm so I have ordered one to give it a try. I also like the idea of the Lee FCD as a final sizing check before they drop into the bin. I also like the idea of the Redding competition seating die, but I guess for 9mm this would be overkill on my 650 with RN bullets. I seem to have very little variation in OAL , perhaps no more than a .005 spread using H&N 124 G. I am really enjoying reloading and am just striving for the best setup that I can achieve. Spending a few £/$/ on the way is ok as half the fun is the experimentation! Thanks for the input
  23. First time re loader with a 650, bought the DVD watched it once but used the manual to set up the machine. Belt and braces I know but worth it.
  24. I only load about 150-200 at a time , this does look good and I'm going to give it a try also. It's 1/4 of the price of a Mr BF and with my numbers needed each week I can't quite see the need to splash out on the big machine.
