  1. I have since the beginning been using case lube on all my 9mm reloads for IPSC and target shooting. Today a friend of mine told me that Spain's premier shop which is run by the Ballasteros family , suggested that he only use lubrication for rifle rounds. This family is very well respected in the world of IPSC as the son is a top shooter along with many members of his family. Have I missed something? Is there a negative to lubrication of a case? Can accuracy be affected in any way? Thanks Mark Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Many thanks. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Newb Q. I have a New Apiero which comes with a recoil master. I tried a friends Edge with a Tungsten guide rod and really liked how it sat back down after each shot. If I order a Full length Tungsten guide rod for an STI and the appropriate spring, Is it just a simple drop in and go? Is any other piece needed. On my SVI its just a guide rod and a bushing combined with the spring. Please point out if i am missing something. Many thanks
  4. I had an email from Bevan Grams , I was sold the FKS11 follower , not the FKS9-11. Mine will need to be filed down by 0.075 of an inch to fit. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Just picked up my new STI mags (126mm) and a set of Grams followers- 11 coil. This is all to run in a 9mm STI. The mags come with a plastic spacer. I notice that the Grams follower does not fit well inside the tube with the plastic spacer, in fact it jams up against the spacer and won't even fully insert in the tube. Is it a question of trimming the Grams follower? Am I missing something ? Many thanks Mark Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks everyone for the input. I'm going to order the Redding and see how it compares to my digital.
  7. I have a dillon 650 and will just use the beam scale to ensure the dump is consistent. I already have the micrometer gauge on the powder bar. The machine is excellent and I think I will give the redding a try without calibration, see how it goes.
  8. I think the idea is repeat ability , how good are the scales at being consistent? Is 4.6 grains today the same as 4.6 next month. I spoke with Scott and it's 75$ to tune and return the scale. He has recommended the Redding no 2 for small pistol loads. The scale itself is around 80$ so it's not a cheap option. A Gem Pro 250 works out at less but is still digital and prone to errors. Decisions! Will think about it for a few days before deciding.
  9. I also have the chrono and plan to use the two in conjunction. I also shoot a 9 mm Infinity for ' precision ' competitions at 25 meters so would like to hone my ammo to be as accurate as possible. For me reloading is a hobby in itself and I enjoy the pursuit of the best load I can make, hence the desire to get a Scott Parker tuned scale. I will call him later as no reply so far to the email. Thanks
  10. Am planning on a Christmas gift to self of a nice beam scale. I understand that you can have it tuned for additional reliability. I was all set to order a RCBS 10-10 but read that it is now made in Mexico and the tuner doesn't like tuning this model. I have emailed him and await a reply but in the meantime does anyone have any pointers towards a model to consider? I am striving for accuracy even though it isn't really needed for IPSC. Thanks Mark
  11. I did just watch the GGI armorers video and he levers it out bit by bit using a small blade from a multi tool. He moved it a small bit , then swapped sides and kept repeating this action till it popped free. Hope that helps
  12. I'm sorry to say that I didn't remove the extractor so can't offer any advice. Are you referring to the new X series?
  13. Thanks JKW. Will check out some Of your suggestions.
  14. It is early days to compare but the X5 does absorb the recoil better and is like a large boat that seems to plow through the wave when compared to the CZ which although very nice just is a bit more lively. They are both great guns and the problem now is that I'm torn between which one to practice with- the shooters dilemma! Too many guns and not enough hours in the day.
  15. Saul, It is a great product and i hear what you say about molding costs etc. I love it and it suits the amount that i reload, it allows me to concentrate on watching that there is powder in each case rather than seating the bullet. Its price wise, well positioned in terms of the large BF which is a large jump up in price when compared to the Mini. I will be ordering another for .40. If you are on the edge about this product- don't be, I would not go back to loading without one.
  16. Don B As I am buying the pistol in 40 s&w and will buy a separate barrel at a later date! does this new barrel need to be specially fitted initially by a gun smith or is it a question of just removing and replacing? Thanks
  17. Thanks Don B. I will have 15-18 months to think about it, thats how long they have told me till i get it!
  18. I had very little experience with the old grips. These are nice , you can really feel they are wood. If you like that feel then they will be fine.
  19. Yup- Spain is very tough on pistols! You can have a large amount of hunting weapons but handguns.....no,no,no! You might want to oust the government.
  20. Just did the maths on the price they are charging in Spain for the parts needed to change from .40- 9mm, in the US they run 550$ including the mag, here...over 1300$. I am in America every month so will just order the barrel, extractor and breech face while I am there and pay for them to fit it here in Spain. 40 S&W with the price of 5200$ for just the one gun, a 2nd risks divorce! Also my licence only permits me to have 6 weapons, this will be number five and i want to get another shotgun also, so these parts will have to do.
  21. My idea was to use it for the weekly IPSC practice using 9mm and then for the occasional competition put in the .40 pieces. It's a lot of money to spend on a setup that may only get used a few times per year, perhaps I should just stick with .40 and use the 13$$ bucks to subsidise the more expensive reloading costs.
  22. That is what I'm thinking. I will make it count so as not to wish I had done it. Thanks Gabe
