  1. They are working well for me and the results seem good so I guess I will keep on with them for a while. Thanks for the replies.
  2. A Newb at reloading but have been doing ok with my Dillon 650 with Dillon dies. I am loading only 9mm for production class in IPSC. I have put a Uniquetech Micrometer on the power bar and am really enjoying this side of the hobby. I take great delight in trying to produce the best round possible. Is there really any point in upgrading my dies? I have heard great things about the EGW under sizing die and also the redding dies. The Mini mr bullet feeder from DAA looks interesting too! Happy to hear your suggestions.....upgrade or keep it simple? Thanks
  3. My new X series all Around. Very few rounds through it and have ordered the SRT kit as the reset is too large for me. The mag release is also small given my thumb length that forces me to move my grip slightly to depress the release. Asked the distributor here in Spain for an extended one and they wanted 130$. Guess I will just have to get used to it!

  5. After reading this forum for a few weeks I decided on a 650. My first reloading machine as I am new to the sport. I bought the set up video and have gone very slowly through the manual before ,during and after setup. I have had only one error with no powder charge after believing I had a primer inverted in the feed tube. I kept taking out every empty case to check. During this inspection I managed to miss load 3 cartridges. A lesson learnt, distractions cause errors. All in all I love the machine. I have ordered the micrometer attatchment for the power bar and now am deciding if the powder check die is for me. Thanks for the great forum BE.
  6. Just taken delivery < here in Spain> of the new model X5 All around. I have found that the reset is too long and am going to order the reset kit for the 226/229. I hope that they will work on this new model! I was told that with the SRT you feel a bit more creep on the SA- anyone have any comments to confirm or deny that? Sorry about the poor photo, will take more on return home at the end of August !
  7. I think the 550 will be good enough but I will call Brian before I order. No carry allowed in Spain unless you life is deemed in ' danger' , if you were a politician etc.... the guns are for target shooting only, if someone broke into your house and you used a pistol on them you would end up in prison. The force has to be equal. If they had a knife only you would not be justified in shooting them even in self defence. The gun has to be stored in an approved safe. Before they will allow you to take the gun away you have to prove you own the safe and give them a copy of the receipt. The cheapest approved safe is over 600$. A good investment anyway but just another hurdle in obtaining a sporting gun.
  8. I will use that time to decide between a 550 or a 650 press! Another tough decision.
  9. Took my forms in to the club figuring I would be able to purchase my new gun this week but..... It's Spain and I was told it will be 6 weeks before the ticket comes back! Thanks all for the advice.
  10. It's the only option but I have to wait till the course. They only run a few a year! It's in Spanish which makes it tough. I will just sit there with a Lyman manual and try and follow though. Then will go on a mission to Andorra to get the primers. It's a risk though but one which a lot of people here in Spain take.
  11. You need to find a gun shop that will sign the register that you came in 5 days in a row and bought 100 each day. If you can find someone to sell you more they charge 100$ per 1000- almost like prohibition! You can go across the border to France or Andorra where they are only 35$/1000 and smuggle them back to Spain.
  12. I love the Edge buts 9mm and not in production class. I have just passed practical exam and can now own 6 guns. The Sig is about 2300$ and the CZ about 1200$. I bet I end up with both over time but first one then I have to pass an exam to be able to re load ammo. Only in Spain. The best law is you can only buy 100 primers at a time as there is a per day limit. Add that to the max 1 kg of powder in your possession and it makes life complicated. Better than the UK where I used to live.
  13. Cheers Matt for making the decision even harder! I know I would love both guns and they have +/-'s. I will go and see both guns today in Barcelona and see if the ergonomics of either make it an easier decision. Thx
  14. It looks like a great first production gun.
  15. Thanks. I am 90% with you but was wondering why they seemed not to be so popular.
  16. After some more research I have added the Sig 226 X5 All Around to the list. It's still in production class and is well thought of in precision disciplines also. If I don't get on with IPSC at least I will have an enjoyable shooting gun for the 9mm competitions here in Spain. Also looking at Holsters and the DAA Racer holster seems like a good balance between cost and features. CR Speed belt on the list also. Any more info greatly received. Thanks Mark
  17. When you say ' shooting minor in a major' do you mean using the 9mm instead of the more popular .40?
  18. Thanks Micah. That's what I am going to do.
  19. Thanks for all the replies. I think I will go with the CZ and spend the rest of the money on a Dillon 550 press from Brian. I will consider another gun for precision in 9mm next year. The Tactical Sports is quite a bit more expensive in Spain and I figure to keep it simple and try and compete in production class. Our precision competitions are based on 30 shots at 25m with a 5 shot in 150 second time limit then a rapid section with the remaining 30 shot in strings of 5 shots with 20 seconds per string. I was trying to kill 2 birds with one stone. The sig p226 x5 was an option but it seems un popular in IPSC. Many thanks
  20. First post so looking to you for advice. Have been shooting .22 Standard here in Spain with a walther GSP expert and about to start IPSC with some Precision shooting as well at my local club. Have narrowed it down to two guns; CZ 75- 01 Shadow or an STI Edge in 9MM..The Edge is 50% more expensive here in Spain and I guess it is a gun that that is on a different level to the CZ. Is it worth to spend the extra now on the Edge or plod on with the Shadow. The one downside is that the CZ has fixed sights. I know we are comparing apples with oranges but does anyone have any pointers? Besides that they are in different divisions. Many thanks
