  1. Kept checking in all day yesterday and last night after the message sent to me yesterday morning. Decided to call today and the tone changed to "keep checking back, we hope it's up soon" Hopefully they can get things figured out before people start to lose interest.
  2. http://amateur3gunnationals.com/ Hope to get some concrete definitions of what constitutes a pro/am for the match to see if I could shoot it. I like the idea of another match to shoot this year, and may try to help RO the match if possible. If there are enough volunteers to RO for the match, I like the idea of a squad RO that sticks with each squad, keeps score, watches over some of the shooters that may need help on their first time out, .....and a stage RO that stays with their given stage for the rules, timer, and continuity of how the stage is run with every squad to keep things fair. Just a suggestion.
  3. From RockCastle's Facebook account..... "We will have the registration form on our website,www.rockcastleshootingcenter.com under the competitions butto, hopefully by the end of the day. Fill it out, and send it in with payment. Call us if you need anything else."
  4. soooooo......hover around my PC for the next two weeks? I hope they can set a soild date for match registration. I don't have time to sit around and wait for something to mysteriously pop up on a website so I can rush to register, I have two small businesses and training classes to run!
  5. If I remember right....you WONT see slugs at a match Ken puts on unless he has changed something as of late. No clue on buckshot, but #4's or #6's were the largest shot allowed last year. The 3.5" #6 turkey loads still did a number on the spinner tho!
  6. #11 Got my butt chewed out because I would be driving during halloween (3gn internartional...she wants ribeyes at this match!)......AlamoShooter, you are one lucky guy!
  7. Thanks Mark and everyone involved. I had a lot of fun and got to meet and hang out with some good people. Thank you emails will be sent out!
  8. I ran my quad loads at the noveske match in Colorado this weekend. They worked great in the all shotgun stage and helped me overcome missing too many targets to still get a decent time. I have 2 quad loads on my belt, and four on my chest rig. I think I'll be picking up two more for my belt before a match like Ozarks with its massive round counts......and possibly more if it looks like I wont have enough room with that setup.
  9. This match has been a blast so far! Aside from walking right past a silhouette on stage 2, I've been able to run things fairly well so far with all of my equipment running correctly. I SHOULD have listened about eating anything in Byers tho......I have a rough evening ahead of me I'm afraid. Looking forward to shooting tomorrow and wish Colorado wasn't run by traitorous fools so I could come back next year and shoot this one again. You put a great match on Mark, I hope you find a good venue for this match next year!
  10. Jesse.......your April fools shenanigans had me depressed for a minute yesterday. I vote Jesse has to shoot the match with a single shot rifle and single action revolver! I'll be (im)patiently waiting by my computer next monday to make sure I get into the match.......and I have the weekend to decide on shooting TacOptics like I thought, or shooting Heavy Optics again (that I enjoyed shooting there!).
  11. will be first time out to this one if I can get registered......I've heard great and horrible stories about hidden targets that aren't painted, and placed on the ground behind trees....looking forward to it!
  12. Thanks guys. Planning to head out from Kansas City around 2-3am to get there in time to confirm my rifle's zero with new glass, and since I dont shoot until Saturday morning, I plan to walk around to check out the sponsors and maybe meet a few people. Looking forward to seeing you guys this weekend!
  13. clay oreos....clay doughnuts.......you know how hard it is to follow a diet with talk like that???
  14. I've found that staggering the shells about 1/8" eliminated any jamming issues I was getting.....that way the round closest to my thumb on the first set to go in the gun already has the crimped end past the rim of the first shell in the second set. On my Quad Loads, I first tried a small bolt in the area below the shells and didnt care for that....then used a heat gun to bend up the plastic piece and that worked okay, but was a pain to do and too too much time. I now use a piece of extra strength double sided tape on the bottom flat surface of the caddy, and attach a piece of kydex to it. It elevates the 2nd set of shells just the right amount for me.
  15. I have 300 Winchester Ranger low recoil slugs that shoot really well out of my 26" M2......I also have 50 Fiocchi 1oz slugs that I haven't tried yet. If they shoot THAT soft, I may have to try them out and take them to matches with pain in the butt slug targets like Ozarks last year.
  16. Definitely! Try cow camp in Decatur too!!! All this progress losing weight................at least this match is around the end of the season and time to put on the winter fat!
  17. Looking forward to the match and all......but is anyone else looking forward to Sweetie Pie's Ribeyes?
  18. Definitely going to be there again this year....this was a great match last year!
  19. All good suggestions there....I hate dumping my rifle into a barrel with my shotgun, and at one of the local matches I go to, a small trashcan is used for the dump "box" for pistols and I like that better than the flat square boxes that have been at some matches.
  20. Nothing goes into effect until June/July.....my concerns on that matter dont come into play until next year. Sadly, that likely means this will be the fast and last trip out for this match for me unless things are overturned or the match is moved. Thats a shame too, from what I'm seeing on the stage descriptions and reports from last year's shooters...this is going to be a fun match!
  21. That was when Rem 700s, Rugers 77s and Win 70s, were the rifle and the price of a good scope, and a good rifle was about $400 to $500. I don't think that is accurate anymore. yup....my LaRue OBR was $3400....Bushnell HDMR was under $1200 with tax after discount, was able to tag steel at 1000yards without issue. The math changes with the times. On the overall question presented by the OP.........since when does "NEED" come into play? I shot two big matches last year in Heavy with Bushnell FFP scopes, Federal Gold Medal Match 168gr ammo,.....financially, skill wise, and my placement on the scoreboard should have dictated TacIrons or TacOptics....but the targets twitched more and made shooting Heavy more fun! I decided to shoot TacOps this year (started 3-gun last March and shot TacIrons all year, save two big matches in heavy)....and I didnt NEED to, but I built a new rifle for the occasion...'cause I WANTED to! I was fortunate enough to have the money for all top-end parts and the WANT overrode my NEED, so I have a new rifle in the safe.
  22. I shot TacIrons with an Aimpoint M4s almost all of last year, with the exception of my first attempt at 3-gun in March and 2 matches in HTO. I picked up the Bushnell mid-year and got the 1-6.5x24 in the FFP BTR-2 reticle. At FB3G in Texas where it was overcast, I couldnt have possibly been happier. I shot the close stuff as fast as I did with my Aimpoint, then hit the distant stuff fairly easy as well. IF the scope was daylight bright instead of the illumination fading to that brown/target color...this would be the perfect scope for me! I am set up to shoot TacOps this year is pretty much every match and will be praying for clouds so my illumination shows up better for the close stuff. I may even talk to an electronics guru friend about the possibilities of changing resistors to brighten the illumination up a little....if successful, it would be worth losing the warranty for me...I only have $970 into the scope! :-)
  23. I have the Bushnell 1-6.5 in FFP and like it.....I'd LOVE it if the illumination was daylight bright, but it isn't quite there. I hope the 1-8.5 version they just put out is a lot brighter.
  24. This is one I'm keeping an eye on to try to enter.....hopefully I can get into it like the Pro-Am!
