  1. Wouldn't the kidney be at least a C? BradC - you just did an edit.....
  2. Turn, draw, sight, target, trigger, sight, target, trigger, move gun...your not supposed to think. Just do it...oops Dog, Miss, move gun, ......... 55 in 4.09...thats GREAT as well as the 55 in 4.87.....
  3. It's still early, but I did not expect these results....
  4. After this semi-complete thread drift I need some perspective. Lets stick to the rules as they are and keep the targets we have. The only tweaking that is still needed and that will remain are reletivly small safety issues (like the filp-the-cartidge-and-play-catch moves, etc - NOT HERE, go read and comment in the other thread(s)). If, example above, tennis will be played on jumping castles with over ripe pumpkins it won't be tennis any more, no matter how big the vote to change. It will be a new thing-a-majig. Tennis will remain tennis (maybe a new name though...) Bottom line: Stick to IPSC as is. Don't make it more or less practical. Keep it as is NOW. It currently has the biggest growth it ever had!!!! Freeze the crux in the rule books, loose 0.1 or 1% if even of the moaners and keep the sport alive. W.r.t target presentation: Keep it sensible (if not practical). My clay-in-a-PT or the PT infront of the clay will only make a difference in the quality of the CoF. Since I strive for quality matches that test ALL levels of competitions in ALL divisions I will probably only use a TS at a fun shoot but not an IPSC match. I like to have serious fun.
  5. That could have happend here as well....
  6. We have the same problems that bob7 sits with - everybody wants to shoot, only 2-3 want to RO's and only a total of 4 to do the work (setting up and breaking down). I am the only one doing ALL stage designs and match organisation. I now have started on a little war: - everybody must submit 1 stage design 4 weeks before the match. These are kept on file and we thus have enough stages to shoot for a long time. - 2 competitors get assigned 1 stage to build and it must be complete 0.5 hours before registration on the shooting day - including targets.... - everybody tears down after the shoot - the complete squad will help to patch and pick up brass at the same time (excluding shooter on line and just completed) - yes, even the sick/lame/lazy can help - at least 2 RO's are assigned to each squad Compliance with the above earns you a reduction in entrance fees - so the other pay to have it done indirectly (yes, match fees have been raised by that much for all!) It sounds a bit like forced slavery, but if all want to have fun, all must help. All other methods have failed - let you know if this works.....
  7. Would luv a setup like that.... Is this legal/allowed in the states? Shooting in your house?
  8. I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! I must resist! Damn, what fine guns!
  9. Like I said - if it shoots straight and doesn't jam I use it
  10. Does the hammer fall onto the safety notch on the hammer? Does the gun still have that safety notch on the hammer?
  11. I don't know if I should laugh my a... off ( like I'm doing...) or feel sorry for you, your wife, the kids or your employee? I guess I'll keep on laughing - it was afterall you who employed and didn't check..... Hope the eye heels soon....
  12. Trigger - I like the idea. Will be kind of the new F-1 rules....now you must plan ahead and KNOW how many bullts to take along so the last one locks the slide and you don't waste time.....NO MORE MISSES
  13. OK...now you start to make me understand! Thanx N & V. So, a cousre setup - no matter what target presentation - should be done in such a way to offer options (we all new that, so lets not go there....) in such a way to test accuracy, speed, power AND skill and allow for earsier shots and the cost of time. So a upside down target (like I saw in a course on a webpage some of you pointed me at in another thread) is bogus since it becomes easier to score points the closer you get - no challenge.... My clay-in-PT is just a point of aim and not a point to aim around as in a PT-steel in front of target (or IN for the matter of fact due to range construction limitations - lets not go there either...)......no challenge The light at the end of the tunnel might not be a train after all.....
  14. I shoot any .40 and 9mm brass I can lay my hands on (except cracked/aluminum/steel/etc) due to the extremly high cost of the stuff around here. I don't leave a range with not ALL my brass picked up (I've lost less that 50 cases in the last 2 years). My .40 brass has shrunk y .4mm already so I just adjust the dies..... Some of the locals still shoot cracked brass - as long as the bullet is tight and the powder stays in they shoot 'em...... For competitions use the good stuff, use everything else every other time. P.S. No I haven't had a jam in over 15 months doing a modest 1500 - 2000 per month

    Zen this!

    Now I know why!
  17. Thats what we do around here due to financial constraints - only the open guys (read limited field of view, etc) complain.
  18. Blairwitch 1 NOT 2 shows nothing and still gives you the creeps....
  19. I fully agree - keep it with standard targets, but again, what are the limits (within the not so common common-sence) as to how they may be presented? ex: Clay-in-PT versus steel in front of PT, etc
  20. Neil Not to stir, but what is the acctual difference between a clay-in-PT setup and a normal steel plate in front of a PT (say 1m between at 50m)? This setup is used in nearly every shoot and looks the same from a distance. Clay in PT to hold clay since bullets do penetrate them and be safe at 30m as per rules (min 50m for steel).
  21. Thanx Neil - posted at the same time..... I feel the same way - mostly - but used the clays-in-PT to: A: test accuracy - Part of DVC (the rest of that stage had the other 2 elements in it...) B: employ safe "steel" in a match where range size is limited I think both are in line with the original thinking of IPSC. I do not wish to discuss the TS - that has been done many times around here - but the merrits on different target presentation within the scope of the rule books.....
  22. Thanx Vince and Flex You cleared most of my Q's. I know frangibles are not for handgun, thats why they were used for rifle....I'll wait for Neil/Tim to get back.... The reason I like frangibles is that you can bring them closer than steel and still be safe. Steel must be 50m min, but our ranges are limited to ±60m max - so I put clays at 30-50m to act as steel. Please do not become to flexible on the targets - its difficult enough as is - I just want to know in what config you may use the approved targets - like the carnival TS, my clay-in-middle PT's, etc.... Luv this place
