I've got your info noted.
Thanks for your feedback!

If you need to "make PF", I'd stick with the 124/147. Most people prefer them to the 115's as far as "recoil" is concerned.
If PF is NOT necessary, I'd definitely give the 115's a try, with a very soft load - I worked up loads with about
3 grains of almost any appropriate (and some Not appropriate) powders, and they come in around PF 110
and are a Real Nice Soft load - great for beginners and very light pistols (my Kel-Tec P11).
Most of your powders should be fine with 9mm, and we have one BE member here who has reported
that The Most Accurate load he's found for 9mm Minor was with N310 (I've never tried it, but he seems
to know what he's talking about).
Jack:
At this time, not needing to make PF as this is going to be my "fun" gun until I can find the right load for accuracy and occasional CC. Would like to try my hand at some local steel competition once I'm really comfortable with the pistol. I'm also thinking i have the option to purchase some retail loads in the 115 and 124 that might give me a start on seeing what this EMP4 really likes. Atlanta Arms has a few options and I know they make premium ammo.
I'm thinking that "theoretically", this 1/16 twist 4" barrel should prefer something in the 124/125g range; but I don't have any solid evidence to support this.........
Anyway, I appreciate your feedback and any additional info you may come up with.
Thanks!

After a long time of shooting/carrying 9mm Glocks, had a strong desire to try a 9mm 1911 style pistol! Never did get away from my love of the .45acp/1911, so after much research, I went to Bud's last weekend and picked up my Springfield EMP4.
Grabbed some of my match 147g GSSF loads, a few 135g coated practice loads, and purchased a couple of boxes of the Federal 124g American Eagles at the store. After running each mag with the 124s for functionality, I was amazed how well these performed in the EMP4! All testing was done at 10yds at Bud's indoor range. Lighting was great at the target stops but a bit weak for the FO front site.....
EMP4 didn't care for the 147g CMJs, and did so-so with the 135g coated.
So now I'm faced with starting my load development for the EMP4 9mm, and wondering what the consensus is here for initial bullet weight?
Thinking about trying some 124/125g JHPs from Zero, etc....or should I look to the 115g pills that I've never used in any of my 9mm reloads! Have noticed that Atlanta Arms only offers their "Elite" ammo in 100, 115, and 147g! No 124/125g in this Elite line. So, I'm a bit confused there......
Normally like to use N320......but have plenty of Bullseye, Titegroup, CFE Pistol, WW231, and N310 though I don't think it would do well in 9mm.
Accuracy is my #1 goal.......guess I'm just not familiar enough with the smaller pills (115, 124/125), and not sure where to start, bullet wise. But again, the EMP4 sure liked the 124 AEs and never missed a beat!
Truly appreciate any info you can share!
Thanks,

Link didn't work for me either. Search ebay for seller: snowshooze.

This is a review off amazon for the Redding Pro:
The only down side I can see is the seater plug seems really sharp. You do not notice it on plated, jacketed, or regular lead bullets. However if you shoot a coated lead bullet (like the Bayou Bullets) it cuts a ring in the coating on the top 1/3 of the bullet as it presses the bullet down in the case.
Have you experienced this?
IGOT:
Here's an example of my loading of 135g and 147g Bayous using the Redding Comp Seater die (also use the micrometer crimp die), and you can see there's no indication of the seater die cutting a ring.........

Match load for GSSF is MG 147fmj over 3.6g N320 @ 1.142. Works excellent in our 2 G17s and a G34.
Drop to 3.3g for coated lead.

IMO, the best bang for the buck! My family has these in different calibers, and will shoot sub moa with the right loads!

I did a search but didn't find any real info on whether folks are using VV N320 with .45 ACP. I know it's a safe powder for .45, but not seeing many reports of people using it.
Here's my situation. I currently load .45 with 3.8gr VV N310 and it's a pretty awesome load. Shoots soft and is accurate. Smokes just a little with coated lead, but not too bad. I also load lots of 9mm (minor) and I'm starting to get into .40S&W for USPSA Limited. I load using Titegroup in 9mm which is pretty much the de-facto standard for minor and have some test loads for my new .40 using Titegroup as well. From what I've been reading, though, N320 is pretty popular in both 9mm and .40S&W. If there's a good load for .45 that feels good, I'd be highly motivated to use a single powder for all three calibers.
I'm not necessarily looking for load data because there are published loads for N320 and .45, though it would be appreciated. I'm really looking for any experience folks have with N320 and .45 ACP as far as the feel of recoil and accuracy of the load.Having loaded primarily 9mm with N320, decided to see how well it would work with some 200g SWC in the Springfield RO. Worked up to 5.0g and this was my best group at 25yds off a bench. Only produced 760fps for average; but was super soft.
Now have a jug of N310, so starting to work up a ladder to see if it will be as good since many claim it's one of the top powders for soft, accurate .45s.

Not in PA, but have talked with Victor at US Anodizing in VA; and he was extremely helpful:

Performed flawlessly. 147 grain Montana Gold CMJ with 3.7 grains of N320 at 1.135 OAL chronoed at 131.4.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkRed: Glad to hear this load is performing well in your Edge!
We were discussing this last year when it was doing so well out of the Glocks:
I'll keep these notes for a future 1911/9mm combo.

Red: Don't know if it's applicable to your Edge, but in my G17 3.6g N320 with the MG 147g FMJ @ 1.142 is my match load. Exceptional accuracy and yields ~133PF.....

This process sure helped me overcome some issues with loading coated bullets:

I found this one online a couple years ago.......works fine for me:

Same here........my early 1911 days taught me a quick lesson on the necessity of a beavertail.
G34, G17, and G19 all have the medium back strap/beavertail or I get slide bite!

Fast forward to 19:30 for front sight........
Looks like he's using Loctite 262 Mil Spec high strength red.....

Chetc:
Not sure what gun your loading for, but I've loaded the SNS NLG out to 1.142" for a G17 and G34, and not having any OAL problems whatsoever....
Just checked a few Bayou 147's, bullet oal comes in ~.674". The 147 SNS NLG's are ~.660" oal.
That small a variance shouldn't be an issue with cartridge OAL.......IMO....
Wanting to try some of the ACME NLG coated in the near future as they have been highly recommended.

Recently purchased/installed another Dawson FO front sight for a G34. Dawson #019-009. Included instructions (#10) specifically state to install using Loctite 271:
http://www.loctiteproducts.com/p/t_lkr_red/overview/Loctite-Threadlocker-Red-271.htm
-
Don't think the blue Loctite has sufficient holding strength for your front sight.....
Dawson recommends using Loctite 262 high strength red when installing his Glock front FO sights.
Have used this on my G17 and G34, and never had one come loose.

One of my favorites; 10 rounds @ 25yds, bench rest:
Springfield RO 1911
SNS 200gr NLG Coated
5.0gr N320
1.250 OAL
Very soft shooter.....

Got the Dawson adjustable rear/FO front on the G17, and just tonight installed the same combo on the G34G4.
Dawson has updated the rear's dovetail, and install is a piece of cake with the included tools. No filing whatsoever required for the install; and everyting is included (sight, tool, loctite, allen wrench).
Highly recommended!

For those looking, the Weigand article at Brownell's is excellent. Also on Brazo's site is great tuning info....
