I have had the best accuracy results in my G17 and G34 by reducing OAL to 1.130ish and increasing PF to > 132. Happy hunting.
I'll vary the OAL a bit and report back once I've had a chance to test.
Thanks again!

Yes. I still recommend it. Drop it down to 3.5 to 3.6 for a G34. OAL 1.135.
I'll start with 3.6 for my G17..... and always Chrono working up new loads!
Thank you Sir.

3.75 Grains of N320 with a 135gr Bayou Bullet, 1.135 OAL made 131 PF out of my G17, with Awesome accuracy.
RR:
Wondering if you still recommend your above load for a G17?
Got 100 of the 135 Bayous to test with N320, as I can't hit on the consistent accuracy I'm after using the 147 Bayous. This would be a ~130PF GSSF load for my G17G4.
Thanks!

Thanks for the 320 info Hogrider. When you chrono, record the temperature. As you chrono throughout the year you can determine how temp sensitive the powder is.
Temp was noted.....
Thanks.

Have loaded right at 500 of the Bayou 147gr coated in the XL650; and once I got the bell set properly on initial setup, have not had any bullet shaving whatsoever. And, I seat and crimp with the Redding Micrometer dies.
Any lead round will require a bit larger bell when compared to FMJ, etc.....

I can see it being tighter too, but if it would be a plate, you miked 3 shots on the aftermarket barrel =)
Yea, if I was shooting a 3" plate at 25yds, I would have definitely had 3 mikes.....

Sorry Hogrider, no experience with N320. I was going to try it until I found out it is just as temperature sensitive as N310. Since Solo 1000 is no where near as temp sensitive and is essentially equivalent to N320, I'll continue to use it. BTW, when you chrono you will find out that the velocities listed in the VV Reloading manual are a figment of some marketing type's overactive imagination.

Finally got a chance to test some N320 with SnS 200gr coated SWC. This was 5.0gr at 1.250" OAL, and the best 10-shot group out of 3. 25yds off a Caldwell rest:
Was very impressed with the accuracy out of my Springfield RO; though it was a little slow at 760fps. Think I'll bump it up to 5.2gr and see if I get close to 825fps.
Yes, VV's load data is WAY OFF from what I expected!

Candersen:
Some may think the gain wasn't really substantial, but IMO, I was very pleased with the results.
Here's a "test" load I was working on @ 25yds off a makeshift rest; first the stock, Glock barrel:
And the same load through the Bar Sto:
And, trust me the "flyers" were a result of my excitement!

Installed a BarSto semi-drop in for my G17G4, and only took minor fitting at rear of hood. Great lock up, and accuracy!

After viewing load data on this and other "reputable" forums, I too have noticed the discrepancies in VV's data! Must be the 6" test barrel?
Thanks for your reply!

Am I right in saying that only Barsto offers a "gunsmith" fit barrel?
IIRC, BarSto still offers a gunsmith fit and a semi-drop in.....
I installed the semi in my G17G4, and fitting was fairly easy with great lockup:

Appreciate the VV info.
Starting to work up some test loads for new Springfield RO using VV N320, and have loaded some test rounds with 5.0gr @ 1.250" with coated 200gr LSWC based on Wilson's IDPA practice load. Hope to test/chrono this weekend. Have also noticed claimed accuracy on another forum using 4.6gr N320.
Any experience with N320 from your end?
Thanks!

Hammer strut is stock 1911......only the MS housing internals are different....

I was inquiring about using a G34G4 RSA in a G35G4 back in late 2012, and a GSSF member stated the G35 was 17#, and the G17/G34 RSA was "about 1 pound lighter".....
Still haven't seen any factory published data to confirm/deny.

RMark:
Glock wouldn't divulge the weights about a year ago when I was inquiring.....GSSF claimed 16# was stock....
-
Don't know if it's considered "too expensive"; but have been extremely satisfied with the GemPro 250. Lifetime warranty and accurate to 0.02gr.

PS: Just noticed that it appears to be the unit that Brian sells as ron169 pointed out above.
Highly recommended.

That will make it easier for sure. Just don't go too far too fast. If you take too much off it's pretty much done for.Sarge:
I do have a good friend that's a machinist; and I'm sure he would help.
Truly appreciate your info.
Understood.
Thank you Sir!

I also reduced the expander on my funnels. Radically reduced the "catch" on the upstroke.I use Lee Dies so maybe that's the difference. My funnel slides right into the case after sizing with no friction until it gets belled. I had to reduce the diameter of the funnel neck expander a little but I have no set back or off center bullets.
Sarge:
Did you ever offer details of your modded funnel on the forum? Got an XL650, and I would appreciate any advise on your mod!!
Thanks!

It is definitely an IE 11 issue....
Have been having the same problem with Win7Pro/IE11. Right clicking on the Quote button and selecting "open in new window" seems to work...

+1 on Brassaholic13"s post above. Also used the free alignment tool from Dillon to get correct alignment.

Using all Redding dies for 9mm in the XL650 including the micrometer seating and crimp dies. IMO, the micrometer dies are worth the additional cost; especially when changing bullet profiles and/or brass headstamps. Once the exact mic settings are established, repeatability is a simple adjustment.
Sizing is excellent with the competition sizing die; but does require perfect alignment of the case insertion/shell plate indexing. Still get the occasional mis-alignment which causes the brass to catch on bottom of die........
Have heard others experience the same with EGW undersize die.

Went with Redding Micrometer Taper Crimp and couldn't be happier with performance/consistency in the XL650!

Doors the range officer come in different models?

Finally got a chance to bench rest/test the N320/Bayou 135 combo. Tried 3.6g & 3.7g @ 1.130 along with 3.6g & 3.7g @ 1.135. Seems my G17G4 preferred the 3.7g/1.135" combo, with the best 10-shot group producing this:
Temp: 68*
Avg: 991fps
ES: 20
SD: 6
PF: 133.79
Hope to load a few more for further testing/sight adjustment.
Thinking this type of grouping is about as good as it's going to get for a stock barrel......
Thanks for your recommendations!
