DDC - the lever seems to only be adjustable up and down on the primer  tube shield. It seems the springs that move the lever fore and aft need to be stronger, but no where have I seen instructions on how to adjust. Got any?

and, to be clearer, the failure to retract varies....sometimes its a quarter of an inch, sometimes, 1/16, sometimes more...

Hogrider, yeah, Ive seen the video. Did all that....

I think most of us using a S1050/RL1100 has fought with that priming system at one time of another!

When mine is set up correctly, the silver block that attaches to the primer magazine is ~ 4" to the middle seam with the toolhead all the way down.  (see pic)

Also, as ddc has mentioned, the lever needs to be just off the bottom of the primer slide frame and as close to center as possible to the brass roller.  (see pic)

    Hope all this helps!

Blues changed their profile to where its pointier instead of rounder at the tip of the bullet.  Maybe give them a look.

A while back, I ordered some samples of Blue Bullet's 147g coated as they were the #1 reloaded bullet in the 2020 USPSA Equipment Survey!  After speaking to a rep there, he sent their new RN profile along with their regular flat point.

To give me a .015" cushion in OAL for the S2 Orange, I ended up with max 1.110" on the new round point and 1.120" on the standard flat nose.  Have not worked on any test ladders at this point.  Pic for reference, and of course YMMV...........

Hog - According to Alex the MBF and the DAA are built from his original product specs that he is still using today to build his funnels - they just use slightly different materials (do not know this detail) and finished their funnels differently (do not know these details)……

    Sig:

That's pretty much my understanding also.  Since the original MBF was sold to DAA, the info I had was the MBF/DAA units they were selling separately and included with the MBF were manufactured in Europe to DAA material specs plus a plating of some type.  And that Alex/PE was the only USA manufacturer making them to the original specs........

Still would like to hear some measurements of the u/l steps of those three.........

    Thanks!

    Hogrider,

thanks for the info. You know, I’ve recently gotten myself wrapped around the axle regarding short OALs. I’ve always loaded RN to 1.140” and considered everything else as “short”.
Now that I switched to JHP Bullets, and Goliath base pads for my PCC, I had to shorten to under 1.125 to fit the Goliath. Somehow I ended up at 1.09 which fed reliably in everything and worked fine, but I couldn’t escape the feeling that my loads were “too short”.   So tonight I dug out my 2 reloading manuals, the newest being 15 years old, and the “recommended” OAL for 115 and 125gr jhp is 1.075”.  The general consensus among competition shooters has always sort of been to load long for reliability, until the CZs became so popular, and now everyone is scrambling to load “short”. In reality, they aren’t really loading very short at all, they are merely loading just barely shorter than what has been a recommended OAL for many years.  I feel a little better about my OAL now.

    Cuz:

    Glad I could help!  ;)

When I started down this 9mm "rabbit hole", it was shooting GSSF with Gen 3/4 Glock G17 and G34s.  And as you know, they had very long chambers that were basically restricted by mag length.  Then I switched to the 1911/2011 platform and for the most part, it was not uncommon to load ~1.140-1.150 and still have plenty of cushion for oal variations.

Then, after acquiring the CZ and experiencing some OALs that just seemed way too short, I too decided to pull out some manuals; and also measure the OALs of several self defense and match, factory loads I had acquired over the years.  And like you, I was shocked to find that 1.10" plus some a bit longer and some a bit shorter was just not that unusual!  Since I primarily use VihtaVuori powders, a quick scan of their current 9mm reload data shows tested OALs from 1.035" to 1.157"!  And this is shared in many of my other reloading manuals!

So, I feel confident your 1.09" OAL for the PCC is well within accepted specifications!

    Load on!

Ok guys - Here are a couple of pictures of the MBF powder funnel, The PE powder funnel, and the DAA powder funnel - side by side…..The MBF has had about 700rds thru it. The other two are brand new - received both in the mail today…..tried to provide different lightning so you can see the details.

Great representation of the subtle differences in these three units.

I would be very interested in hearing the specific measurements of the lower and upper "steps" of all three if possible.  And if any have a polished, plated, or bare metal finish?

    Thanks!

    Hi

Looking for coated bullets with a narrow ogvie, which mimic bullet profiles likbe Berry's or most FMJ to load for my CZ.

    Any suggestions?

After purchasing my first CZ, an S2 Orange, I quickly had to adapt from loading 9mm at 1.142"-1.150" down to MUCH Shorter OALs!  Did a lot of "plunk" testing between 135g and 147g coated lead along with 125g and 147g JHPs.

From the examples I had (Bayou, Acme, Blue, and Zero) I found that the 147g Coated flat points and the 147g JHPs allowed me a longer OAL vs the smaller weights.

IMO, whatever bullet weight and profile you may be was considering, I would definitely call the manufacturer and ask them how their particular profiles work in CZ (short) chambers!

Attached is a pic for example:  My current match load, the Zero 147g JHP on the left, easily clears at 1.125".  And would go out to 1.145" if needed.

The middle Zero 125 JHP Conical AND the right side Zero 125 JHP both have to be loaded max 1.080" to give me my desired .015" clearance.

So, particular ogive profiles definitely play a huge part in chambering successfully in our CZs!

    Good luck!

It's a superior piece... you'll love it. Much better than the DAA one.

As I stated before, Alex/PE is making his powder funnels to the original prints and specifications of the original MBF design!  They are excellent quality!

    👍

  8. I also use the Redding Pro Micrometer Seating and Crimp dies.  They definitely help create excellent bullet alignment in the case.  However, IMO, that bullet has to have the proper "seat" for bullet placement prior to the seating die.  That's where the MBF type powder funnel comes in as sold by DAA, Uniquetek, and Photo Escape!

  9. I'm thinking your looking for a good Self Defense load vs low Standard Deviation from your reloads...........  ;)

After using VV powders for a LONG TIME, I totally agree with ltdmstr in that I've never expected to duplicate VV's published loads as they are from test barrels in a controlled environment.  I do think that the reload your after is possible with the right combination of bullet/VV powder/same headstamp brass, etc.  Your rifle reloading techniques should agree with that.

IMO, look at the VV reloading data to see what similar results you can find for your desired bullet/powder combo.  Then as always, load up a ladder and run across the chrono.

There should be others here that reload their own SD ammo that can offer more details.

    Good luck!

PS:  be sure and grab a copy of Darrell's load data!  Has a wealth of information!

I moved to Black Bullets.  I am using a 125 grain swc and I need to know what the completed cartridge overall length should be?  ...and if anyone is using unique powder, what is a safe charge? ...and last if not least, is there some place on the internet I can get this data for 9 mm luger?

Just saw this and thought I would share…We all know de-priming is a pain point for many reloaders……

Rollsizer.com will be releasing an automatic decapper / deprimer shortly. The deprimer will handle soiled cases and you only have to clean your cases once. Yes. You halve your cleaning time. Bonus especially for wet cleaners.
The one decapper will process everything from 380acp up to 308win. All you change is the drop tubes. It will come with similar fittings to the rollsizers to connect to a Dillon casefeeder.
We have partnered with FW Arms to utilise their proprietary universal decapping dies.
They are the best on the market.  These will be supplied with the machines as standard and yes the one decapper does all the calibres listed. It's a special design so your reloading press one doesn't work. Sorry.
All you need is the drop tubes which.you probably already have from our rollsizers....
    Yes they work.
Oh. They also process 3,000 cases per hour......
You can mix calibres (within reason) cases so 380acp in with the 9mm cases is not a problem for example. We tested9, 38s and 357SIG and threw a few 380acp in for good measure. No problems.
We need to update the website first so we won't be accepting backorders until then. Plan on early August '21

Videos showing the new unit on the Rollsizer Facebook page - Hoping the link below works (my apology if it does not - I am not a computer guru). If not you can go to their website and see a couple of videos of this new system…..I do find it interesting that Rollsizer is teaming up with FW Arms - That tells me that Will (FW Arms) makes a high quality product….

No idea on the price point…..

Now can you do that freehand HOGRIDER? lol.

OP: Titegroup, despite all the interweb hate it always produces the best groups for me. I've tried many but keep coming back to Titegroup because it's cheap. versatile and it performs better than most other powders. I also really like WSF and WST but they're getting more expensive and difficult to find up here in the Great White North.

Absolutely NOT!  But I do know that if I miss it's me and not my ammo!

Per the OP's request, I did share my recipe and RR test target to back it up.

    😁

  13. I got a notice that these were in stock:

    https://czcustom.com/cz-p01-slide-stop.html

Since this SKU# is not one that I'm familiar with, I sent Angus Hobdell a PM to see if this was the SAME part that I had been waiting for which was an exact replacement for my Shadow 2 Orange.  His reply was this is the correct part.

So I ordered a couple of them. I hope they are indeed the same part that comes stock on the S2O.

    I ,obviously,agree with your post@sigarmsp226.  much appreciated

everything set up well.  dummy rounds load easily in my "problem child"  so I am good to  go. first 10 rounds did everything they were supposed to  .

I'll also chime in to share that one of the things that makes it easy for me to "brag" about the Redding dies is the consistency/repeatability of the Pro Micrometer dies!  IE, if I change bullet type/size/profile, and I need to shorten/lengthen the OAL say .005", I can refer to my notes and move the seating die micrometer .005" and it will be very, very close to my desired setting!

As Mark mentioned, much easier to reach up and adjust the micrometer vs "trying" to adjust reset the 1" die nut!  IMO, they are very much worth the additional costs!

Im curious as to what reloading recipe do owners of the CZA01 use to get the best accuracy? Powder & Bullet weight?  Thank you for any replies to the question.

    Rocketman:

I don't have a CZA01.......yet......, however I do have a Shadow 2 Orange; and I have to say it is one of the most accurate pistols (out of the box) that I have ever owned!  And I feel the Orange and A01 probably share a similar level of accuracy and performance.

This is my current favorite out of the Orange:

    Hope this helps!

  16. boatdoc173:

As Boom stated, definitely remove the spring from the Seating die for a bit more consistent OAL.

If you notice any "sticking" from the crimp die, the insert can be easily polished/smoothed up to all but eliminate that.

I followed the written instructions that come with the dies, and they have operated flawlessly!  My OAL and Crimp consistency has been EXCELLENT!

    Good luck!

    That is a good question.

As far as what we will be getting when Dillon releases their version I think the only thing we can guess is that it will be more expensive.

Who knows what features they will add if any. I can imagine their legal department will mandate some sort of drive chain guard.

At one point there was a fairly significant price difference. I bought during their annual 20% off sale so it was a no brainer from a cost perspective.

I’ve done a lot of reading on both machines over the past several years. While I don’t have any Mk7 experience it certainly appears capable.

With either machine you are going to lose the “feel” of the manual machine. No way around that. You are more of an observer of the process than an active participant.

Things will go wrong. There is a stop switch. Sometimes you can get it stopped before you make a big mess and sometimes you can't.

    ddc:

Thanks for the detailed feedback!  I think I'll just pay attention to everyone's input and see how the new Dillon is accepted with Forum members here offering feedback.

Have to honestly say I've never paid a lot of attention to the Ammobot unit; but have always thought the M7 "appeared" to be very smooth during the YouTube videos I've seen.  And I like seeing the M7's various sensors that are available.

I think our options are going to be plentiful with all the "players" entering the market.  ;)

    Thanks again!

  18. I have to say of the Eemann Tech items I have ordered from DOT40, they have been the exact parts that I ordered.  Most recently I ordered an Ultimate Trigger for the S2O, and later that evening, I decided I really wanted the gold/brass unit.  Sent an email to sales: and very shortly after, I received an email from Pablo stating he would be glad to do the swap to the brass unit.  Also gave me the July 4th sale price since I missed the cutoff by a day.

So, do your homework and order the exact parts you want/need.  I have found DOT40's order fulfillment very timely as long as it's an item that's IN STOCK.  Any doubts?  Call!

My biggest complaint, and it's not any fault of DOT40, is if you use USPS for your shipping carrier, the service from the Miami area is VERY SLOW!!!!!!

Use another carrier if you need something quickly!!!!

    👍
