I understand what people are saying and do agree it is just a game and you must play by the rules. I do like shooting IDPA we do not have a uspsa club within 300 miles of here so idpa is the only game in town. I realize it is a gear race.

the only thing i would say to this is the i think its the glock 34 with the slide lightening cut and etc is advertised as a competition gun so why is that legal? "Glock 34 Gen4 competition". thats how they list it on the glock site.

so what do they use for guide rods 400 or 300? imma go grab a big magnet that should tell me TY

Does anyone here know a way to tell for sure if its tungsten or stainless guide rod? I have a m+p Pro 5" 9mm with an uncaptured guide rod. The guy i bought it from said it was his IDPA M+P but i only believe half of what i see and less of what i hear. so before going to the state match i wanted to know for sure if it was stainless or tungsten. Hate to get a DQ for the wrong rod ya know. so anyone know how to tell for sure ?

I like the rule book only real changes i would have liked to see is. 1 point = 1 second CDP = anything that can make power factor 165,000 Its their game I'm just playing it. but all and all it works for me...

Wow i feel under dresssed in my blue jeans and Harley t-shirt with my competitive dynamics vest and my safariland hat. May pick up some sort of shoe for the next regional match or just stick with the biker boots i use now.

Never mind answered my own question STI, SVI Brazo's etc are considered competition guns and there for not allowed unless you have a barrel bushing because that makes it more non competition i guess...

so can anyone tell me how an STI edge in ESP has a distinct advantage over any other pistol in the same category. If in fact it meets the Box requirement weight requirement etc just doesn't have a bushing barrel?

can you use magnum primers in regular 9mm loads ?? if so how much do you down load the powder charge?? i cant find small pistol primers but found a few thousand small pistol magnum? didnt buy them for fear of blowing my gun up ..

I like the idea of min/major regardless of action idea. I like the here are the bad guys they need 2 shots body one shot head you figure out how to do it rather than the over explained way now. Wouldn't mind seeing the ability to shoot my 5" edge pistol in ssp or esp. i don't see why the barrel bushing makes a difference that's just me. I like playing this game and it is just that a game. I commend the tiger team on their diligence to do this and look forward to see what they have come up with.

dont believe having a bushing barrel negates the full length dust cover on a 5" . on a 4" i believe you can have a full dust cover and bushing less barrel but i may be wrong. and cant find my IDPA rile book at the moment..

Sigs are awesome and i used to shoot a 226 blackwater 9MM and a 229 elite 40 S&W problem i found with sigs is the first trigger pull is long and at about 6-8 Lbs where follow up (if you have the SRT ) are fast and low 3-4 LB but that first shot would usually end up right of where i wanted it to go. I bought a M&P pro 9mm Used for Idpa and love the consistent trigger pull and lower first shot and follow up shots at 2.5 LBS. but that's just me. Also i found them to be just as if not more accurate out the box than the standard SIG for half the price. Again this is just my 2C

Im'ma chime in quick I shoot a M&P Pro 5" bought used for $500 already upgraded and use a safariland holster ($40) and a comp tac magazine holder($35) and I am top shooter at my club in SSP. Also IDPA is just a game and not even close to real life. I mean one or two targets = real life encounter 6-10 targets with running and going between cover and reloads = Combat. lol Buy the best you can afford ( S&W M&P and Glocks making up the majority for the SSP market.) Go to your club match and find the guy with the $1600 STI custom piece and beat him by over 10 seconds = priceless.... lol

Just read at one of my suppliers that ammo prices are being raised by 17% due to demand and hording. ( sounds like companies are just saying if you wanna pay that much then we will sell it for that much.) Their is just a small loss in supply and a huge increase in horders trying to make a buck selling ammo for more than what they paid for it. I mean if you goto gunbroker ( cracksmoker) or any other auction or gun related site you will see PAGES AND PAGES of people selling 1,000 round box's of 223 55gr FMJ BT or just 223 in about any flavor you want. at $1 a round of course and primers at $60-120 per thousand, if you don't want to pay 3 times what they paid for it you end up waiting for things to settle like the rest of us.. I think now that the assault weapon ban has been killed you will see a slow ripple start coming back onto shelves when people buying and reselling can no longer make a fast resale and they and up sitting on it you will see prices come back to normal. hell i know a guy who " scored " a few thousand rounds for his 223. Funny thing is he doesn't own a gun.

IDPA is already VASTLY more weighted towards accuracy than USPSA. The thing is, the guys that are beating you know would still beat you if you changed the scoring. They would just slow down 5% and hit 95-100% down-zero. who says im gettin beat maybe i want a bigger lead

Ok so how far do you push the powder to fill ratio. my gun shoots jackets round extremely well at about 1100 FPs i did the wst thing for my 9 started low and chronoed each one. between 3.6 -4.6 grains loaded to a C.O.A.L of 1.10 there was a speed variant of maybe 150 FPS 3.6 gave me about 920 or so and 4.6 gave me about 1087. But at 25yrds my groups were in my mind horrendous averaging 4 inch 5 shot groups retesting groups tomorrow. but is this normal for such a minor change in speed over such a great powder weight difference?

well just got a notice from a supplier of mine that due to demand ammo manufacturers are increasing ammo prices by 17% ... Thanks to people hording and reselling at stupid prices the companies took notice. so hope fully it will cut in to their profit margin enough that shooters may once again be able to buy ammo and shoot..

I would like to see the inclusion of full dust cover, non bushing barrels ( of course still fitting in the box). 1 point = 1 second I mean the center is 8" its not just speed but accuracy.. that's about my tirade

I got some info before but it was for 1.145 c.o.a.l i plunk tested my M&P pro and its short 1.13 so im looking for loads at 1.09/1.10 coal anyone got some for that short a load ??? I may have plunk tested wrong I took a spent cartriges and the barrel out of the pistol placed a BC bullet in the cartridge out as far as it would hold it and slowly pushed it into the chamber til the casing went flush in the chamber and got what i would think is a short C.O.A.L 1.13 retested 4 times and got the same. its a stock barrel so ? im not sure if they just made them that way or i got a fluke..
