  1. Anyone know if it's legal to bevel the magwell area of an 85C? I had one and got rid of it because it had no front cocking serrations and because it had no bevel at all to the magwell...
  2. that CZ would ever produce a Shadow based on the Tactical Sport/larger frame?
  3. Ordered one and will post back when it arrives...shipped same day.
  4. Can you adjust cant on this Invictus hanger?
  5. Mag springs could improve this feeding issue? I'm happy to get them if they'll help.
  6. I don't know whether I've got the standard spring or the extra power one...I'll order a couple of both and play with it. Thanks! Dan
  7. I just played with it and I'm pretty convinced it's related to the extractor - with the extractor and its channel clean, if I rip the slide and let it go the gun goes into battery and chambers a round (though you can hear and feel it get slowed down at the point it was getting stuck before.) If I pull the slide and then gently try to let it go into battery the round doesn't chamber - it gets stuck out of battery as I've described...but then if I push on the rear of the extractor from the outside (basically pushing against the extractor spring) the gun pops right into battery and chambers the round on its own. I don't see any burrs on the extractor...maybe I'll try polishing it and I'll buy one and just try both and see what removes that problem.
  8. Could a dirty, filthy extractor be a culprit? I cleaned it and I *seem* to get better feeding just racking the slide to get a bullet in the chamber...I'll shoot it Tuesday or Thursday. I don't know that I've ever popped the extractor out and cleaned it before... I will check the breechface for burrs. Brass is all used...don't see any damage to case rims. But I might try more crimp - I use the Lee U die in the sizing/decapping station, and then, in the crimping station, I usually crimp as little as possible and still get the rounds to chamber check. Then again, with regard to ammo, a local CZ shooter gave me one of his rounds and it had the same issue, so it probably isn't the ammo/brass (his gun feeds just fine.)
  9. I'm having feeding issues with my Shadow - at least once per stage I get a round angled upwards and I have to pull the slide back to get the case/bullet to straighten itself so that it'll slide into the chamber. It's like the nose of the bullet gets hung up at the top of the chamber up about halfway. I've loaded at 1.130", 1.120", and 1.080" - same issue, though it seems to be a little less frequent at the shorter length. Bullets are 124 grain Ibejihead conical nose with no lube ring (others local to me with Shadows shoot the same bullets in their Shadows with no problems.) Every round is chamber checked with a Stoeger Pro Shop chamber checker and none even fit snugly in the gauge (I use a Lee U die.) Mags are the nickel plated Mec-Gar's from CZ Custom. Anybody have any thoughts? When I rack the slide to get a round in the chamber, I can feel the bullet wanting to get hungup in the chamber...bullets/cases don't enter the chamber smoothly at all.
  10. Has anyone replaced a rear sight on their TS? I'd like one with a wider notch that extends lower...

I agree - I've tried everything...the DAA larger grips and even an oversized set of wooden grips - just didn't feel right. I think the issue for me is that I feel like the trigger is too far back and I think that's because the grip is almost triangular in shape (real skinny at the top.)

    Just got a P-09....

Damn you guys I was hoping you were going to say that the muzzle flips like a 357 magnum...I just put a deposit down on a Production legal P09 from Cajun Gun Works.

    Just got a P-09....

What kind of muzzle flip are you noticing compared to your Stock 2's/Shadows? Thinking of getting one of these - held one and it felt better in my hands than my Shadow (filled my hand up more.) If it shoots flat I'm in.
  14. Could your trigger return spring, where it connects to the trigger bar, be NOT in vertical position? Sometimes when I put the bar into the housing I under up with that spring rubbing against the inside wall of the housing because it is not straight up and down. Adds weight and makes the trigger feel like shit. Prob not 3 lbs of weight, though...
  15. Yeah for sure I am taking this very seriously and I have no concern right now at all about placing well at matches. And if I never get back to where I was performance-wise that will be fine by me - the point of me doing 1,000 mag changes a week and making this thread was to make sure that I could enjoy this sport and its people for many years to come. I'm not going to say I'm immune from an AD outside of the instant I push the mag release because I know better than to assume anything, but that's the only time I have an issue. I think that other than at that instant my finger is flat and on the frame unless the gun is on target. I've tried many of the suggestions in this thread over the last few days in hundreds and hundreds of reloads. I didn't like looking in the trigger guard - even though I didn't have an issue, it felt awkward focusing on a negative (I look at targets to shoot them...I look at the magwell to get a magazine in there...I look at positions on the ground to get setup there...looking at the trigger to make sure I'm NOT near it felt contrary to the nature of every other visual input.) Where I reload doesn't seem to make a difference other than that I think when I'm running having the gun up and out is going to result in more fumbling which might be asking for trouble. I've settled on focusing on two of the suggestions here and one from someone locally here: - break grip every mag change (sometimes when I'm trying to get fast I don't break my grip and then I end up reaching really hard with my thumb which I think causes me to tense up with the rest of my fingers in order to allow for that thumb stretch...in other words, not breaking grip and having the finger straight and up on the frame don't necessarily work together - for me) - finger up on the frame BEFORE hitting the mag release, not simultaneous with hitting the mag release - stop trying to hit the mag release the split second after the last shot is fired - that was kind of burned into my shooting very early and it isn't a time saver but it does raise the likelihood that I get to the mag release before the finger is up on the frame
  16. Alma, that's sort of the model of what I was *trying* to do with my reloads - I'd heard Ben in a podcast talk about bringing the gun in and how he didn't believe it was a time waster and I was even told by another GM well known trainer/shooter that I needed the gun in closer to my body. I'll play with all of the suggestions for the next week. I love the part of that video where they take the slide off and a bunch of metal junk parts fall out...
  17. Super helpful Jshuberg. I will follow all three of your recommendations...and they fit nicely with the other suggestions given in this thread. I definitely think that keeping the gun high and not bringing it in as far will help - you're right in that when I think about pulling the gun in it's very natural to pull the fingers in.

trgt - does your P09 have the Cajun Gun Works trigger parts?
  19. Yeah I think wjg3 hit it - if the gun isn't in the right position in my hand to get to the mag release without reaching, I reach and the rest of my hand tightens/curls to allow that thumb to reach further. And that doesn't happen often...happens a couple of times per 10,000 reloads - but that's not good enough it can't ever happen.
  20. Thank you Alma...that may explain why when I struggle to get beneath 1.20 on my reloads where everyone's saying that to be a high level gun handler the reload needs to be down near 1.00. I actually never saw my own reload until I did that video tonight. The reason I bring the gun in like that is because most reloads happen while moving and I feel like the closer I have it to my body the more "braced" the magwell is. The less my arm is connected to my body the less I get the mag up in there cleanly. I can change it, though - especially if there's additional safety in not bringing the gun in close. To clarify, though, the AD's have happened probably at the first 1/3 of the period where I pull the gun in and hit the mag release - I'm pretty comfortable once I get beyond dropping the spent mag (as far as being safe.)
  21. wgj3, I could definitely see it being the case that, when I don't break grip and get the gun in position to easily reach the mag release with my thumb, exactly what you described happens. I don't know exactly how to avoid that from ever happening, but I think you've hit it.
  22. Here's a quick, crappy video I just took 5 minutes ago of how I reload. Excuse the stupid Affliction shirt from 10 years ago that I wear to bed... I wasn't trying to push speed in this reload - and I've basically done 6,000 reloads just like this in live and dry fire in the last month and a half. Maybe there's something inherently dangerous about how I'm doing it.

Try to put both a Shadow and a P09 in your hand. I struggle with the Shadow because it doesn't fit my (larger) hands real well. I put a P09 in my hand at a local gun shop and it felt great. And Cajun Gun Works has a Production package for the P09 and I have to imagine the trigger is pretty damn good. It'll probably be my next gun.
  24. I have two G34's - a Gen 3 and a Gen 4. The Gen 3 has been shot alot and has a Briley gunsmith fit barrel and Warren Sevigney sights - I get all alphas at 25 yards just standing and shooting. The Gen 4 is new with a stock barrel and Warren Sevigney sights and it seems to shoot left even with the rear sight moved over to the right...not sure what's going on with that, but it still seems to hold an A zone sized group. This is with either ibejiheads or bullets from two local bullet makers (one coated, one uncoated lead - I don't shoot the uncoated through the Gen 4.) I shoot other guns I have a little bit tighter than the Glocks when I'm just standing and shooting, but not at speed. I too have a Stock 2 and keep reaching for the Glock.
  25. That's interesting - I do not mag change with the pistol up and out of my face...I do it with my right forearm in tight to my body and the muzzle is pointed slightly up and left. The mag button pushing happens as I'm bringing the pistol in. I had that thought that it seems easier to ensure the finger is up on the frame if the gun is upright when I push the mag button but I let it pass...now that you mention it, I need to give that more consideration.
