  1. I guess, then, from a recoil standpoint asking of those who've shot 2011 and Czechmate open guns: is your dot back on target as fast with the Czechmate as with a 2011?
  2. Had an Infinity guy who shoots 38 super tell me that his dot never leaves the C-more glass...basically said that if an open gun works they way it should (and the shooter does his part) that the dot shouldn't leave the glass. Does the dot stay in the glass through recoil with a czechmate? I have no ability to try one - I'm a huge fan of the Tactical Sport in Limited so this is a logical gun for me for open if it shoots as flat as the 2011's can.
  3. I bought an STI Duty One in .40 and ran it today at a USPSA match. Almost every time I got to the last round in the magazine, the slide locked back. Seems obvious what the problem is: when the follower gets up to the top of the magazine, when the slide tries to strip a round out of the magazine and into the chamber, the front of the follower is getting hung up on the front of the magazine (won't push down) and the slide locks open. Here's a link to the mags I've got: http://www.shootersconnectionstore.com/Tripp-10mm-10-Round-Government-System-Magazine-wBasepad-P3334.aspx If you push on the follower from the top with bias to the front of the follower, you can feel metal on metal scraping (if the follower isn't so hung up on the front of the mag that it doesn't push down at all). Anyone experienced this and is there a solution? Probably should've got the "Corey" mags, but I kinda wanted the option of shooting major or minor (I think the "Corey" mags only run 9 rounds). Thanks!
  4. CZ custom sells the safeties I use.
  5. That might be the biggest issue: I'm loading hotter than I need to because that variation could screw me up at chrono and I don't want to be shooting 179 power factor.
  6. I actually have a pound of the silicon grit and tried it once: turned out horribly :-)
  7. I'll call them that advanced shooting website tomorrow (wish I could just order it online...don't see an email address on that site). Thanks! Dan
  8. Does anyone make/sell a polymer 2011 grip covered in silicon carbide grit? Thanks!
  9. I've never noticed an accuracy issue. But I did chrono at 179 in Ohio because I was basing my power factor on chrono fps x 180. I ordered 2,500 Precision Bullets (the one from Kemp TX): I'll see how consistent those are in weight and then I'll see if I notice any difference when shooting...if I don't, I'll continue to shoot what I'm shooting. (Really, though, I'm not saving any money with the bullets I get now so I probably should just go for the better bullet.) I'm an M Limited trying to scrape off the last second or two to be on pace with stage winners (when I run a stage well) so I'm looking at everything (this isn't a major factor even if it is a problem, but it would be low hanging fruit that I could easily resolve if it were a problem at all). Interesting note from when I ordered the Precisions: they recommend NOT running Titegroup with their bullets, which is what I've been running with these local bullets.
  10. Bullets I've been buying (locally made) are anywhere from 188 grains to 182 grains (advertised as 180's). I'm sure I couldn't shoot one that weighed 182 and one that weighed 188 and accurately identify which was which. Does anyone think bullet weight inconsistencies like I described above would have any measurable effect on shooting (at speed in a USPSA match)? A friend thinks that the small variation could have effect on difficult shots and maybe even intermediate shots - he thinks the different bullet weights from shot to shot could screw with timing which could cost a 10th here and a charlie there...
  11. Taran Tactical has plenty of black ones. For the TS or for the smaller 75? Or both?
  12. Shot one of the tactical sports with slide racker tonight - when shooting, it isn't noticeable, which is what I'd hoped. All upside.
  13. nice...what rackers are those? Those are SVI rackers installed by Mr. Postman! He did a great job and the turnaround was fast! Can't wait to shoot them (tomorrow). Hoping I don't even notice them while actually shooting.
  14. Both set up exactly the same.
  15. Earlier I posted the exact question I asked of DNROI (as to the legality of the barrel bushing). Here's the response I got from Troy just a few minutes ago: Troy McManus <xxxxxxxxx> 4:00 PM (1 minute ago) to me I took a look at it on the web page. I don't see this as an external modification, and it would be legal if it simply replaces the OFM part, and the gun had a bushing to begin with. Troy
  16. Looks like a spent case in there?
  17. And there is the trick. The fact that the stock bushing doesn't protrude from the slide while the 10X bushing does is an important detail that was omitted. It doesn't just show and look a little different. It lengthens the pistol and changes the contour. How far out does it protrude? Can't be more than 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch, can it? (Barely protrudes at all out of the end of my Tactical Sport.) On a similar note, I wonder why Cajun didn't try to make the exterior look exactly like the stock one - the ID of it inside the slide is what provides the tighter barrel fit, not the lip that sticks out of the end.
  18. The following is what I sent in my email: A company called Cajun Gun Works has brought a replacement barrel bushing for the CZ Shadow to market. It is NOT like the CZ Accushadow bushing, which is a 1911-like bushing that to install it requires machine work. This replacement bushing just goes in place of the stock barrel bushing - friction fit being held in place by the front sight pin, same as the stock bushing. The rim that shows on the end of the muzzle is a little different than the stock bushing, but not much different. The benefit of it is that it *supposedly* keeps the barrel tighter to the slide when a shot is fired, which the seller says is supposed to improve accuracy...pretty much the same effect that gunsmith fit barrels for Glocks, for example, are supposed to have. Would this replacement barrel bushing be legal for a gun used in the Production division? Thank you!
  19. I don't shoot production but I just emailed DNROI. I'll post the response I get.
  20. Thanks mr postman! Now to find a local smith that will do it... the grip tape idea is a great one. I don't like cleaning around grip tape though...too hard to keep oil/solvent from creeping underneath it.
  21. I've broken a stock rear TS sight using it as a slide racker (snapped in half right where the allen screw goes). Friend of mine that also shoots a TS had one break this past weekend. I imagine that CZ USA wouldn't be too thrilled to replace a rear sight that was being used as a slide racker... Problem is there is so little slide showing above the frame and the slide is actually narrower than the frame - very hard to rack using the front of the slide like you would with a 2011. I was thinking about adding slide rackers to my two TS's - I'd get the SVI rackers that angle up at 40 degrees, have a gunsmith make a dovetail cut just in front of the rear sight, and then drift it in place and hold it down with an allen screw. Anybody see any inherent problems with that? Once it's done there's not going back... Thank you!
  22. The trigger bow that came with my SVI enhanced ergonomics grip is too long for the SVI grip, too.
  23. Hard to notice a difference with the kind of shooting I've done with it, which has been typical uspsa type shooting that you can do indoors (I haven't bagged it and shot groups). There was definitely play between my stock barrel and stock barrel bushing - now there is none. I'll say I've shot it very accurately with zero flyers (unexpected non alphas). I'll be a little more confident on the tight shots.
