  1. I am just curious as to what most of you believe "standard length" to mean. Is it a standard 8 round 1911 45 ACP magazine length or is it the standard length of magazine supplied with the pistol? This is one place IMO that the rule is a little ambiguquous. It clearly gives rounds in the mag. It clearly says fit in the box. Those are easly defined and enforced. The standard length mag I believe is fuzzy at best. Some may want to play with their compact 45 ACP 1911 carry gun (me ) and "standard magazine for that gun is 6 rounds. Must I use the "standard" 6 round magazine for my compact 1911 or can I use "standard" Wilson or CM 8 round magazines? Both would fit in the box and both would meet the round count requirement.
  2. Magazine design doesn't matter. you can load to 10 and be just fine.
  3. Well finally got my bench set up at the new house. Made a few modifications, and combined a few things. I like the way it turned out. Maybe tomorrow I will get my bullets, primers, and other things moved in, but I thought I would post a pic while it still looked clean and neat.
  4. Being out of town I missed the resurection of this thread. For practice stands I use 1-1/4" PVC. for each stand you need 4 PVC tees. and about 8 feet of PVC pipe or 1 stick. cut 4 lenghts of pipe about 15" long. These for pieces go into the run side of two of the tees to be the legs that run along the ground. Cut 2 lengths of pipe about 6 or 8 inches long and one piece of pipe 17 inches long. The 17" piece goes into the branch of your two unused tees (this will connect your legs and will work out for the width of IPSC targets). Put one 6 or 8" piece into the run side of each of your legs and set your 17" piece on top of those. 1" x 2" x 4' uprights will fit right in the top of the tee when you are all done. If someone is really interested I could probably get a pic tomorrow.
  5. Set it up and shot it in Colorado today. Nice stage. Probably not set up exactly the same here as in Ohio, but was still a fun stage. We used Classic instead of Metric for an additional twist. Nice Job Nick.
  6. I saw you added to the ranks of CRO's in the latest Front Sight Flex. Congratulations
  7. This looks like a very fun target, but is out of my budget for practice targets. I don't believe this would be a legal target for USPSA since all steel must fall to score (hummm, could falling 6" and becoming another target be considered falling?????)
  8. When we replace targets we typically just staple new target over old.
  9. Well I knew this move was coming for a few months now, so I have loaded all my supplies (thus I guess I will have to order more when I get settled ) and have run myself down to the minimum of what I would normally have. Only 2K of 40, 800 of 45 and 1K of 357Sig is not much compared to where I like to be
  10. I definately hope it doesn't keep our friends from the north away. It should enable us to generate 12 really good stages for a top notch tournament. The last couple of mile highs have been short on help and thus end up with 3 or 4 good stages and then some thrown together. We are hoping for 150-175 shooters and have 16 squads.
  11. Since I will be moving into my new (to me) house in less than two weeks, I decided tonight would be a good time to do the final packing of the loaded ammo and loose supplies. I did a quick survey of what I had to pack and figured one book size box would be just about right. Set it on my reloading bench and started boxing up all my boxed ammo. I was so proud of myself that it all fit almost perfectly into this box, not too full and no wasted space. All my ammo in one box for the move, I am set.....or so I thought. Taped up the box, labled it and then tried (tried is the key word here) to lift it. Damn, I didn't figure my ammo would weigh in at over 250 LBS. It didn't feel that heavy loading the box . So spent the next 30 minutes transfering half of this box into another box. One good thing. I found bullets and primers I forgot I had
  12. I couldn't help myself, I just had to change my avatar, I hope it doesn't confuse anyone. Old Avatar
  13. I have done 1000 of 40 and 357 Sig on a couple of different occasions. Usually takes right around 2-1/2 hours including boxing time and checking for high/sideways primers. This is on a Lee Loadmaster with 3 primer trays. I guess if I had the componets and the stamina I could do 9600 in 24 hours.
  14. Details for the Mile High Showdown are still being worked out but this much is known: Dates: September 3rd, 4th, and 5th Stages: 12 + chrono Fee: $75.00 before August ??, $100.00 after Location: Olympic Venue Style: Day 1, Weld County, CO (20 miles east of Ft. Collins, CO); Day 2, Aurora, CO (just east of Denver); Day 3, Ben Loman Club (45 miles SE of Denver). Prizes: Plaques and Cash Squading: Still being worked out, but most likely morning squads and afternoon squads. Should be and interesting and fun match. I will post link to match application as soon as it is available.
  15. Even though Paul is a Brit by nature, he has transitioned well. I am real sure he has his measurements in feet,
  16. Paul, Do you mind if I use this @ CCPS in June with Classic Targets? I will rename it to T-t-t-t-turtle T-t-t-t-transition
  17. I would amend the distance to remove the diagional distance for the poppers. Measure from centerline. Will be more likely to be set up uniform that way.
  18. The Lone Ranger was ambushed and captured by an enemy Indian war party. The Indian Chief proclaims, "So, you are the great Lone Ranger. In honor of the Buffalo Festival, you will be executed in three days. But, before I kill you, I will grant you three requests. What is your first request?" The Lone Ranger responds, "I'd like to speak to my horse." The Chief nods and Silver is brought before the Lone Ranger. He whispers in Silver's ear, and the horse gallops away. Later that evening, Silver returns with a beautiful blonde woman on his back. As the Indian Chief watches, the blonde enters the Lone Ranger's tent and spends the night. The next morning the Indian Chief admits he's impressed. "You have a very fine and loyal horse, but I will still kill you in two days. What is your second request?" The Lone Ranger again asks to speak to his horse. Silver is brought to him, and he again whispers in the horse's ear. As before, Silver takes off across the plains and disappears over the horizon. Later that evening, to the Chief's surprise, Silver again returns, this time with a voluptuous brunette, even more attractive than the blonde. She enters the Lone Ranger's tent and spends the night. The following morning the Indian Chief is again impressed. "You are indeed a man of many talents, but I will still kill you tomorrow. What is your last request?" The Lone Ranger responds, "I'd like to speak to my horse, alone." The Chief is curious, but he agrees, and Silver is brought to the Lone Ranger's tent. Once they're alone, the Lone Ranger grabs Silver by both ears, looks him square in the eye and says, "READ MY LIPS," I said, "BRING POSSE."

  20. Only thing I see is you will need additional uprights. They invariably get shot when targets are sideways. Otherwise it looks good to me.
  21. At least you didn't put the no-shoot on T2....I like the stage
  22. Another thought to consider is to delete Box A and make the start position, standing within the fault lines. That often makes a unique twist on a stage and usually works very well with a fairly square shooting area.
  23. I ran this shortly after getting my CRO at our local monthly match. The turn in the the box is different than in a standard box, but was not difficult to overcome. Most stepped to the back of the box while twisting around.
  24. My CRO standards course is below along with scoresheets: Barricade Presidente Required Materials: 1 Bianchi Barracade with 2'x3' box 3 Target Stands 3 Metric or Classic Targets 6 Lathe Uprights 1 CRO 1 RO 1 Squad of Shooters
