  1. Tac 30 is the previous model, as far as I know. If true, then Midway could be selling off their remaining stock? I haven't used either so I cannot give any meaningful comparisons of the scopes with each other.
  2. My new 16" upper from Carbon Arms has the Firebird Dominator on it. It has a great finish and looks like a quality product. Unfortunately, I've been on forced medical convalescence all this week.....no range time yet. I can make a rough comparison to my Nordic Corvette once I get out shooting again.
  3. What barrel nut would be used? Regular Mil-spec nuts? In that case, I'd consider a Samson Mfg Evolution model. I have one (Evolution 11") on a 16" carbine upper that will be repurposed to personal/homestead defense use. My main competition rifle (Loki, being custom built now w/ 15" carbon fiber) and backup/shorter-range-match upper have two variations on carbon fiber. The backup upper is Carbon Arms (~12") hand guard on Firebird barrel nut. I've become less enthused by systems with extensive rails in the past year. I'm no expert, but there is a dizzying array of choices and they depend on the barrel nut and what you want to do. Defense weapons might need lights or fore-end grips that you might not want in pure competition. Good luck.
  4. I'd like to shoot it and it's 5.56mm little brother too, just for fun.
  5. I have to admit, my thoughts were already similar to Bryan's before his post since I had a good guess at the price. Looks like my estimate was correct. If I had that type of coin for a 308, I'd totally consider a JP LRP-07 as my first choice and my close second (for much less money, also) would be Benny's custom 308 package. I have deep respect for H&K workmanship, but ouch!! Heck you could do Benny's race gun 308 and get most of a nice reloading setup couldn't you? I'm not into reloading because of schedule constraints, but that's one way of thinking. It's great to have choices, regardless.
  6. a google search of "vtac sling acs" gives mention of the QD connections that cam be purchased for that purpose. I'm afraid I have no direct experience to share. I have an ACS that I like very much on my M&P15 lower, but I don't run a sling, yet. Best of luck.
  7. Hey neighbor, what was the asking price for this? I've heard they are very expensive. Thanks.
  8. We've shot my standard 69 SMK reloads through mine without tuning and saw just under 2.25" groups at 300 yards. It's about the same as this load out of my 18" JP barrel. For a guy who will shoot only factory ammo, do you have any 69 grain recommendations for a Loki? Mine will have an 18" Satern barrel. Thank you.
  9. My 26" Versa Max is with him now. I look forward to getting it back and giving my review. The OP's SX3 looks very nice. Is that a 26" barrel also?
  10. Check this thread. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=146024
  11. YouTube user SuperSetCA has a video of a c-rums modified Versa Max. Look for it to see a showcase for each modification. i'm bit at my computer. I hope I recall the user name correctly
  12. They did batting cage practice with them for durability testing, as I recall. Beyond that, I don't have any serious data. Mine will arrive in a few days as part of a Carbon Arms 16" barrel upper assembly. I agree with Bryan. Call Mark over at Carbon Arms. He competes in major 3-gun matches and pistol matches, etc or a regular basis. Meanwhile, my 11" Samson is getting transferred to my "defense"' upper. I like it, but for 16" barrel competition, I was looking for a very light system. I have no financial interest in Carbon Arms, but I'm very appreciative of the customer service as a customer of their shotgun loading systems and the new upper.
  13. Today I ordered one in the neutral bright titanium we see in an earlier picture in this thread, not the blue titanium. PRS stock, billet receiver set, Ergo Tactical grip, 18" limited run barrel, AR Gold trigger, and so forth. Can't imagine I'll buy an 18" rifle again. And the 16" upper from Carbon Arms is on the way soon. Might get the Loki by early to mid-April. Cutting it close for the Texas match. But the 16" race gun upper should be here next week.
  14. My new 16" upper will have a carbon fiber handguard (upper being built by Carbon Arms this week). My new 18" custom rifle will have one, as well. My existing 16" carbine upper has an 11" Samson Evolution system. It's very nice, but only fits the mil-spec nut and is aluminum. In your situation, I'd definitely think about one from Carbon Arms. At the very least talk to Mark at CA about your specific needs. He'll steer you straight to what you need, even if it isn't in his product set.
  15. I'm in the same boat. Looking forward to the experienced replies.
  16. Nordic released low-quality images of the Vinci extension prototype on their Facebook page today. No hints regarding pricing.
  17. I'm a complete noob at all of this. My first match was Saturday. I had purchased the related FSL 12 from Carbon Arms. I was complimented on great shotgun loading. As you can see from the product videos these loading tools from Carbon Arms are fast. Enjoy!
  18. I have no affiliation to NC except as a recent customer. I don't own a Vinci. But, I know some of you are interested in this topic. Check out their Facebook page to see some low quality images of their prototype extension for the Vinci. I hope that is helpful to you Vinci owners out there.
  19. The Evolution model I got was designed to go on the mil-spec barrel nut.
  20. I put an 11" Samson on my carbine. Solid, great in the hand, exceptional fit, and easy to install. Get one.
  21. Gotcha....I appreciate the education. Good luck with that.
  22. Today's exchange rate shows that to be slightly over $317 and then transatlantic shipping will be on top of that. I have no idea if that is "fair" but is seems steep to me. Then again, an 18.5" Benelli barrel for my SuperNova would be $300 from an online dealer here in the USA. I hope that's somehow helpful.
  23. As a new Versa Max owner, I'm curious why you would need to do that. It comes drilled and tapped in four places along the top of the receiver. At least my 26" synthetic model has that. Are you needing holes in other positions than those already provided? BTW, I have NO expertise in this matter. But, I do know my Versa Max has those mounting holes all ready to go straight from the factory. So say my eyes and my owner's manual. I'm eager to learn about your situation. -- Mike
  24. Got the Versa Max a couple of weeks ago but just now found time to get to the range. I had lots of rifle gas system adjustments and optics zeroing to do so it was just 5 rounds of slug POA to POI comparison. This shotgun is *sweet*! Dead on with the full power Remington slugs I used. Just dead on...... It's ready to be cleaned and shipped to a gunsmith for work. I shot my Benelli SuperNova a few minutes before and enjoyed them both. But honestly I think I like the Versa Max more (would hope so given the price difference). Now to get it smithed for a better lifter, etc. The stock lifter is EVIL. Otherwise, this shotgun rocks. Can't wait to get it rigged for racing and out to a match. First, a trip to a pro for a tune up.
