I must have gotten one of the good ones...I bought it last fall, and it has run everything I've tried, from Wally World Federal bulk pack, Estate target loads, Winchester AAs, Remington, even the Rio target loads at 1150 fps. And Federal low recoil buck and Fiocchi 7/8 low recoil slugs. Oh, and I didn't have to do any dremel work when I put the Nordic +4 tube on, either. One other guy at my local club runs one, and his is much more picky. Brass only, and stay 1 oz or heavier. His doesn't like Fiocchi slugs, period. Now if Nordic would just get more bolt handles and XXL caps in stock...

8x57mm qualifies as HM, right? Wonder if that would have been legal for WWII Division at TXMG... Do want...anyone spot me $5k?
-
That seems to be pretty much the size of things...either the prices are insane, or there isn't any available?
-
What's the difference between the Blade-Tech Revolution mag holders and their standard ones? Besides the $23 price difference?
-
Now I can't remember where I saw it...meh. A shorter VR barrel with a better FO out front would still be nice. But 23" seems to be an option as well. Still something to shop for at the fun show!
-
Is that the Mountain of Geese or Bass Pro?
-
I asked about 22" specifically because the local club nearest where I'll be moving to this summer uses the IMGA rule set. Best I can tell, IMGA limits barrel length to 22". The 870 I have right now, I bought for WWII Division at TX MG. It's an ancient Wingmaster (1963 or so) with a barrel in the 26" range. But mostly just in case I get a hankering to play HM some weekend instead of TO or Limited. Guess I'll look for the 21" at the next fun show. The way things are going, barrels might be all some vendors have.

Does such a creature exist? (Threaded, as well.) Or should I look for a longer one and get it cut down? What would be a reasonable price for such a barrel, and how much would said cutting/threading job be expected to cost? (ballpark)

So two reports of Wally Worlds in TX being cleaned out, but they have ammo in OH...maybe TX is preparing to be it's own republic again.

The scariest prediction I've seen - complete hearsay, admittedly - is that ammo suppliers are so far back ordered that things won't clear up until late 2013, around Christmas, if then. I just ordered another 500 pieces of .223 brass, but I can't find bullets - either Hornady 68s or 75s or Sierra 69/77s - anywhere that aren't backordered. I've got components to load about 900 rounds of .45, but I never bothered to get any of the hardware for 9mm - it's always been so cheap it wasn't worth it. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the big matches start in the spring, how ammo availability effects things.
-
Amen to that...I've got 500 rounds of 68 gr .223, 300 rounds of 55 gr, about 350 rounds of 9mm on hand...I can't even find bullets to reload with available, everything's out of stock. I think that's enough ammo for 3 of my local matches, maybe 4 or 5 if I break out the .45 instead of the 9mm. Except the 55 gr I've got sucks for targets past 100-150, and the close ones at the local match usually start at 200... Might have to break out the Garand again...

Question: for those who shoot both striker fired pistols and DA/SA or just SA hammer fireds, do you do your dry-fire practice any different? That's another plus, at least I'd think, for the M&P. I know it's a definite improvement over my 1911 and having to reset the hammer every time.
-
On second thought; you'd better off shooting your 92FS and using your hard-earned $$$ for practice ammo. If I could change the sights on the Beretta I would do that...but they're awful, and they're cast into the slide so I'm stuck with them. If I could change the sights, I might just run the Beretta period...I like pistols with big fat grips (another reason I love my CZ-97). The way pistol availability seems to be at the moment...I might not be able to find an M&P Pro when I have the money.

I shoot mostly 3-gun, and I'm moving from running the guns I already owned to ones bought/built for the sport. Got a shotgun, now I'm looking at a pistol. I've been running a 1911, and reloading every 8 or 10 rounds gets old. I've got the finalists down to the M&P Pro and the CZ SP-01 Shadow. (I'll consider the G34 when Mr Gaston reconsiders the grip angle.) The M&P Pro is cheaper (even with any Apex trigger upgrades) and parts and accessories are more common. The Shadow, well, I have a CZ-97B that I absolutely love - most accurate gun in my safe. It seems to me like the Shadow has a lot more 'upgradeability' in it. I'm not good enough to need a super fast/accurate pistol just yet, but when I get there, it seems like I could make more improvements to my gun with the CZ. And the Shadow is just sexy. I feel like the guy at the car lot looking at the Volkswagen, knowing full well it can do everything I need it to do, but lusting after the Audi. (And back when I was single, that argument was settled in favor of the Audi. Man I loved that car.) FWIW, I'll be running a police trade-in Beretta 92 SF until I save up the $$$ for whatever I decide to buy.

I was told years ago, not to use any powder slower than 4064 in a Garand. The slower powders change the pressure curve and will bend the long M1 Op Rod. I did not know this. If you want to read some really involved discussions on this topic, wander over to the CMP forums. That's where the SMEs on this particular rabbit hole live. I found one thread that spanned over 10 pages and several years when I was looking up ammo for my M1 prior to shooting WWII division at LaRue last April.

Single point vs. dual point sling
Langenator replied to Recon'sHide's topic in Multi-gun Gear & Accessories
A lot of stages at my local club are run starting with a slung rifle, and the MD/RM doesn't allow single points at all because they allow the rifle to swing around too much when you're moving or shooting another weapon. -
I just got my assignment instructions, going to Fort Eustis, VA. My attempts at finding anywhere in the area that does multi-gun have thus far turned up nothing. One place that runs NRA High-Power, on reduced ranges, and then a place on the other side of the river in Chesapeake that does USPSA. Help!

Note: steel vice grips will DESTROY a brass sight bead. Quite literally. Did manage to get it out, eventually. That Hi-Viz is nice. So much better.

High Capacity AR 15 Magazines
Langenator replied to AznDragon533's topic in Multi-gun Gear & Accessories
From what retailer might one procure the 48 round Lancers? I can't find the C Products 40 rounders anywhere...Dillon lists them in their dead tree catalog, but not on their website. -
Mine wouldn't unscrew, or it least the pliers couldn't get a good enough grip to get it to move. All nice and scratched up now.
