  1. on the subject of box o parts,.....in the eighties I got to sit in a DEA office and go thru numerous parts so they could tag them with the appropriate gun, ......one MAC-10 .45 part, one Uzi part, one MAC-11 part, one MAC-10 9mm part, one Uzi part, one M3 part, one SW 76 part, one MAC-10 9mm part, and so on and so on. 2. hey I thought I did answer the OP's question, before I started my other comments????? Trapr
  3. the answer is YES, normal, and YES, light loads or not light loads, the answer is still YES. the question is have any of the Benelli beaters actually pulled off the upset,.....................................................................that answer is NO. MAYBE on short term, NO on longevity, the Beretta 1301 may be the closest EQUAL!! time will tell............. Trapr no offense taken or meant.
  4. If anyone wants to shoot my 1301w/mega KO they are more than welcome to, you just need to let me know, and be somewhere that I am at the same time!!! Let me know in advance so I can be sure to bring it along. trapr
  5. On the whole gas gun bolt gun issue, I just got back from Mammoth Sniper, I shot a gas gun and it ran flawlessly for the whole match, but it was lubed properly. Weather conditions were mild 40's to teens, snow, rain, ice, If my scope had done the same I would have been happy. I RO'd a squad of 14 shooters and they placed consistently in the top 15, of the 14 many many many had cycling issues, mags were an issue, operator error was an issue, and using precious time reloading was an issue, pulling the trigger on an empty chamber was an issue, yet they still finished well. there were 3 gas gun users in the group and none had cycling issues. The second place team in one division also used gas guns, and had no issues. As far as disadvantages the only issues are less calibers to choose from, accuracy is not an issue. target sizes ran from 2moa to 1/2moa, 37yds to 1067yds. trapr
  6. weakhand loading is practical and thus works in every situation, quads/twos is not, which is why you have guys on here saying they keep a caddie for certain situations. However weakhand loading does require more practice to become proficient and stay that way. A lot of people do not have the patience or time do put in the practice, and just like learning loading twos before learning to load quads is easier, starting to load weakhand with just three shells makes the transition to 4 much easier. Too many try handling 4 right off the start and fumble and drop and give up, saying its too hard. Trapr
  7. I appreciate the invite,.......not gonna happen, see you in Vegas for fun and no trigger pulling. on the "nothing worse than" I disagree, there are far worse things than simply forgetting your "plan". Trapr
  8. Most people on this forum would "vote" against "big Government" telling them how to run their lives. so why do you think that we NEED a big governing body to tell us how to run our matches????????? trapr
  9. sterling as I said originally, local matches, new shooters, help is most always appreciated. matches with prize tables.....NO, thats not called coaching its called cheating. Ironman, if the rules allow it, so be it, I personally do not agree with that approach, but then you've never seen me at that match either have you?? Trapr
  10. excellent Taisto!!! i'm looking forward to it, my vacation is being planned around going to Europe and Scandinavia next year already. Yes the RNT match will be invitational, and then whatever slots are left will be put out for the general paying public. But again, it will take some time to put everything together, so bear with us. Denise, the HPSC match in OKC was just a friendly little carbine match, it will pale in comparison. Major PF, is sitting at 360 right now but we'll look further into it, it won't be less I promise, unless 150gr fmj factory 308 just can't be had from a 16" barrel and I'm getting 382pf from my 16" gun right now. Trapr
  11. sterling your original post and topic title says: during the stage, which to me means after the buzzer and before last shot fired???? post #46 is entirely different from the original topic, now you're talking about training. and as was said earlier technically unless match rules deems coaching is ok, its cheating!!! the biggest issue is that the term is ambiguous, unless what the match will allow is spelled out specifically, I recall Denise yelling at a squad for coaching because they were using a 40x spotting scope with a ranging reticle to call misses for one another, and to her that was pushing the allowable coaching rule too far, but to do the same with the naked eye was deemed ok. So whats legal and allowable and whats not if it isn't spelled out precisely?????? Simple: No Coaching Allowed........you want to train, train but thats done between matches not at a match. Trapr
  12. Kyle, its ok with me if you just BAN HIM!!! and give him a "special little snowflake" for participating in this discussion Trapr
  13. couple of things: first and foremost i think we need and ICON for "special little snowflake" , and we need it right now!!!! second, many of you said coaching was OK unless it distracts the shooter?? how do you know coaching is a distraction to the shooter when they are shooting????....... when they have to yell back at you to STFU!! Way too many people are trying to be "helpful", we may do this for entertainment or fun, but its still a competition. A shooter on the clock is listening for 2 things at the most from an RO,.... STOP and HIT!! personally if all steel would fall then HIT is not needed. if an RO tells me in the briefing that they will call hits, OK thats fine but if I hear something other than HIT but not sure what it was and have to ask the RO what they said then that should be RO interference (MHO). But technically its not!! At a major match if you provide "coaching" to a shooter then you are stealing from all the other competitors that they are shooting against, irregardless of whether they win the match/stage/ or whatever, we participate in a sport that recognizes individual achievement,..... not best shooter and best supporting spectator Now if calling hits/misses is allowed by the shooters friends, then the shooter should say they want that type of assistance to the RO so they know. For a local match, by all means help and assist, but do not coach them for every shot, they need to depend on themselves to call hits, far too often I have seen new shooters hit a target and wait for the RO to call the hit for them becasue they became conditioned to them doing it, that type of behavior does not help new shooters. My thoughts!!, you may not agree, Trapr
  14. call Nordic, and ask for the slightly wider clamp, they make one that is slightly wider on the barrel end and does not pull the barrel and tube together, I have one I got from them. Trapr
  15. RNT is talking about doing for practical rifle what we did for practical shotgun, kick start the right way to do things and show US shooters and MD/RM's, how it should be done!!! All steel fall, paper at distance, all steel painted for every shooter, major/minor scoring, with REAL power factors!!! Targets with No shoots at distance, shooting positions other than prone and "in your face" Stay tuned,,........RNT, Old School Rules Practical Rifle Invitational, World Championship!!!!! Trapr
  16. Tcon, thats great, all it takes is dedication to the gun and practice. find what works for you and keep practicing, its amazing the number of people that simply refuse to work on reloading the gun and then bich piss and moan about how it should'nt be included in multigun. trapr
  17. Tcon, you didn't say "as fast" in your original post, you said competively, to be competitive you only need to load a shell a second and thats really pretty slow. You are also assuming that everyone needs to grab 4 loading from a caddie, and have large hands to handle 4 shells, you are still holding 4 shells loading quads and you still need finger dexterity. You are simply making a lot of assumptions based on your experience, which is not a bad thing just that it is limited. in much the same way that people will argue/discuss the pro's and con's of mercedes over bmw, or ducati over honda, or ferrari over lamborgini, or blondes over brunettes. or major pf over minor pf, or whatever, they both have their pros and cons and it is up to the individual to decide what they prefer, neither is the fastest or best way to load a shotgun it is just the way we have to load for now. trapr
  18. Tcon, your comment that "just about anyone" can learn to load quads fast is completely true about weakhand as well!?!?!? You just need to practice it, trust me I've taught untold numbers of people how over the last 10 years, Now Quads does require a bit less practice to get good with it, but "just about anyone" still needs to practice.
  19. There are NO modifications that are NECESSARY to be performed before using a Benelli for 3 gun competition, the above post about the porting is correct however,
  20. Mike, check your internals and make sure they aren't dragging across anything inside, also check your lubrication inside the bolt, use SOME. check the hammer spring to see if it broke, after that if nothing obvious pops up, check firing pin length you can compare it to someone elses, you know like when you and the boys compare lengths at the pub after some ciders. cheers mate, let me know what you find, Trapr
  21. when you could perform all the same tasks within 90% of the time differential, and carry 95% of the ammo capacity, and still have a trajectory that allows poa poi hits to within a 2-2.5" radius out to 200 yds. trapr Now if the pf gets lowered to 280 for major, it may be time to just say WTF!!! lets just shoot RF!!!!!
  22. perhaps the gun needs the "shoot out of battery" modification, like all the pro's use!?!?!? there another misuse of terms!! Trapr
