  1. " We want to make everyone aware that you will be working out of golf carts or personal ATV or such. This place is 2600 acres and we plan to take advantage of all of the wonderful natural terrain. The golf cart fee will be $50 for the entire weekend or $25 per rider. Vehicles are prohibited on the range but you are more than welcome to bring your own ATV for use. " I don't like seeing things like this after people have already signed up for a match... How far apart are the stages really going to be? Are the golf carts going to be a "must have" item? What size are the golf carts (2 or 4 seat)? Are the rules as far as how many people you can have on a cart (riding on the back, etc)? For a family of 5, does that mean that I am going to be required to rent 2 or possibly 3 carts?
  2. When you take a look at the parts list, you start seeing things like Bar-sto barrels, Black-T finish, and as many barstock parts as you can get, you are getting a pistol that is as good or possibly better than a Wilson or Nighthawk. I know a guy that wore the mag release out on his Wilson pistol...that will not happen with the barstock parts on the Gravitas pistols. Compared to a Wilson, these can save you hundreds of $. Great pistols and a great company!
  3. "6.3.2.6 No shotgun in Tactical class may be loaded with more than 9 rounds at any time, or hold over 8 rounds in the magazine tube." The max your shotgun tube can be loaded at any time (including after the buzzer) is 8 rounds, 9 if you have one in the chamber. The rules seem to indicate that on an empty chamber start I could have 8 in the tube and 1 on the lifter(ghost load)...but at TFD3G I was told by 1 RO that you can't do that. Which is it?
  4. A friend of mine with some welding experience wants to try his hand at welding up a lifter for a SLP. Anyone know what type of steel people have been using for this?
  5. I told Gary I'd work and I'm in for any match thats at the Rock anyway. But I'd like a definitive answer about semi-pro points as well. Has anyone actually emailed/called/sent smoke signal to chad, pete, or gary? Or are we all hoping they will see this here? It has been a month now...any word on this???
  6. Will we need slings? Any slugs or buckshot? What is the typical max distance/target size for rifle, pistol, and shotgun?
  7. This is my first time shooting this match and I haven't seen rules like these before: ---2.6 Leaving a loaded firearm in a safety barrel or box will result in a Match DQ. Loaded firearm means any round(s) left in an inserted magazine or tube or in the chamber. I assume that we are allowed to burn extra rounds into the berm then? ---2.8 A stage DQ will be issued for dropping an unloaded gun or leaving an unloaded detachable magazine in a gun. Is this new? DQ'd for leaving a totally empty/safe weapon with an empty mag in it? Is this a "host range" rule or is this a common thing for matches in that area? I suppose it would save some time in making the range clear for resetting the stage...
  8. Belated thanks to all the ROs that worked through the long hours and kept a good attitude! My son Tim got the Versamax certificate out of one of the "mystery cans". Remington had a quick turnaround time...we just picked it up from my FFL yesterday. All 4 of us had a great time shooting the match and we hope to see everyone at some matches in the future. Tim made a video of a few of his stages if anyone is interested...
  9. 1st time shooting this match...can anyone give me an idea of what kind of max distances/target sizes that are usually encountered at this match for rifle pistol and shotgun?
  10. Thanks for all the replies. Once I looked up the lightning strike, I think that is what it is.
  11. Isn't this the forum? Or are you saying to post it in a different forum?
  12. Can anyone ID this Glock trigger? I got it in a used gun and like it, but can't seem to find any that look just like it. I wanted to get 1 or 2 more for my other Glocks... http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/821/sam0118lp.jpg/
  13. This will be my first time at this match. What are the typical maximum distances/target sizes for rifle, pistol, and slugs?
  14. Schedule is filling up quick...would love to know potential dates.
  15. Great class. The boys loved it! Thanks for all the hard work and help Ben, Ronnie, and Lori.
  16. Thanks to Andy, all the RO's, and the rest of the staff. The match was awesome! My 14 year old loved it too. Hopefully I'll be able to get off work for it next year...
  17. For Tac-Optics it looks like the rules have no limit on mag capacity or coupled mags, is that correct?
  18. Based on past years- 5" plate out to 25 w/ pistol full size IPSC out to 100 w/ pistol full size IPSC out to 100 w/ slugs MGM Flasher out to 450+ w/ rifle Iron Madien at 550 w/ rifle Don't worry though, the rifle targets are usually at the end of the stage, after your winded from running 100 yards through the woods. I LOVE THIS MATCH! Full size IPSC out to 100 with the pistol? Seriously?
  19. This will be my 1st time shooting this match. What kind of ranges/target sizes should I be prepared to shoot with the rifle, pistol, and shotgun?
  20. They are so easy, even a 12 yr old can do it... Here is a video of them in use by my sons from last week's FNH 3 Gun:
  21. I primarily use the Carbon Arms TWinS FSL-8 and 12 but also use their SSL-4 pinwheels to keep slugs handy but separate. My 2 sons(14 & 12) use the TWinS SSL MOLLE system, one on a chest rig, the other on a drop leg MOLLE panel...the kids have a lot less room on their belts, so they really appreciate the extra room it gives them. We were able to shift the holders on their MOLLE panels to hold enough ammo, but so much that they get in the way...some of the other systems don't allow you to change the size...what you get is what you get. My load times dropped immediately with this system. I love them!
  22. I could not have hoped for better for my 1st big match! Thanks Larry, Linda, and all the volunteers!
