Ben Stoeger’s USPSA Fundamentals 2-Day Class – Oct 27 & 28, 2012

Is there any discount for junior shooters? -
Thanks for the info. I talked with charlie and he gave me something to try...but I have been moving and just haven't been able to set aside any time to mess with it.

2012 FNH USA 3 Gun
mark97se replied to sbmd's topic in Multi-Gun, Rifle & Shotgun Match Announcements
265 on a 6" MGM Colt Auto Popper. Lots of those MGM Autopoppers at 50-200!!! How well did that target stand out visually? Was the paint kept pretty fresh? -
2012 FNH USA 3 Gun

Got one, now waiting for the other 3 from the same envelope... -
Thanks. I will probably try to contact them and see what they say.

I checked the trigger spring/bar...there is only one hole in the trigger bar...what now? I also checked the connector...it already bends away from the ejector housing nicely.

How do they typically run the chrono at a sectional?
mark97se replied to mark97se's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
I just heard that they are having a courtesy chrono available at this weekend's match (Summit Point, VA), so I should be able to knock this out without any trouble. Thanks for all the replies! -
How do they typically run the chrono at a sectional?

I have some reloads and some factory stuff. 1st sectional for me, the wife, and 2 boys. 3 diff pistols between us...don't want to leave anything to chance, as I have heard that some of the 115 gr 9mm factory stuff occasionally doesn't make PF. -
How do they typically run the chrono at a sectional?

The match is in 3 weeks and I live in Woodbridge, VA...guess that I better start looking for a chrono to borrow. Thanks for the replies! -
I am coming up on my 1st non-club match (sectional). Can anyone tell me how they usually run the chrono? Is it something that I need to arrive early for and get it done before my squad starts shooting, or is it treated as a separate stage that is mixed into the middle of the match rotation? I don't have a chrono and I am concerned about my ammo making PF...I am hoping that I can chrono before I start shooting and switch ammo if it doesn't make PF.

I will have to take a look at that a bit later. I was able to duplicate the problem without the mag now. I also backed the pre travel all the way off, so the adjustment screws should not be effecting anything. The function check above is not catching it, as it is only happening when the action is cycled when the striker is already cocked. If it is cycled with the trigger held back or after the trigger has been pulled, it works fine...but if I take a fully charged/cocked pistol and rack the slide without touching the trigger, it then doesn't reset properly(trigger pad safety resting on frame) and when you pull the trigger it goes back with no tension and doesn't fire.
-
I will try some different mags, but it did it with both my AA 22 conversion and the normal glock upper so that is at least 2. If the sear engagement was minimal, is it possible that the upward pressure of the full mag could push an old/loose slide upwards enough to cause the sear to not catch on the striker? I wish that I could see inside...I wish I had one of those armorer slide plates.
-
I should have said more intitially...I had already backed off on both adjustments. I had also already done the function check with weapon empty = all good. I just also did the function check with mag full of dummies = all good, but as soon as I have a mag of dummies in, and cycle it without touching the trigger (as in loading the weapon), it is back to the same problem. I backed the over travel screw all the way back = no change.
-
I put a Vanek Super trigger in my Gen 2 Glock 17 the other day and it felt great and worked fine...until I put a full magazine in it and tried to shoot it. When the full mag is inserted and the action cycles, the trigger does not reset properly- it goes forward, but trigger safety pad is resting on the frame and as soon as you squeeze the trigger, the safety releases and it goes fully to the rear with nothing happening. Do I have too little sear engagement? Recommendations? Solutions?

Do you need a classification to be eligible for class awards?
mark97se replied to mark97se's topic in USPSA/IPSC Shooting
Maybe I'll stick with SS then...unless I can find a classifier match. Thanks for the input! -
Odd question here. I am going to be shooting in an upcoming sectional, but I am currently unqualified. I have a couple of qualifiers under single stack (headed straight for "C"), but I want to switch to limited. If I switch, I don't think that I will be able to make it to enough matches to get my provisional qualification (4, right?) before the sectional. Would I be eligible for any class awards, or are unclassified shooters lumped in with the Masters or something odd? I don't really think that I would win anything, but I would like to have a chance. Do I need to stay with the single stack for now?

$300 NRA Life memberships
mark97se replied to gmantwo's topic in Miscellaneous Topics That Do Not Fit in Any Other Forum
Want to do this...sent IM. For everyone else...if you have your membership paid ahead a few years, they will discount from the $300 for some of it. My 10 years or so came out to $150 off of the $300... -
I am shooting single stack with my old .45 for right now. The wife and one son are using my Glock 17 in production and the other son is using my Taurus 1911 9mm in single stack. I may eventually start using a 9mm or .40 Glock for production/limited...the .45 ammo is just too expensive to practice much...

I live in Dumfries. I should be out there for the 2 gun match this weekend too. This time I will get to sleep for more than 1 hr before the match...I worked until 5am before last month's match.

Just started out on this site. Been over ar AR-15.com for several years. Used to shoot a lot, but kids have slowed me down for the last 13 years or so...they are getting into shooting which is enabling me to get back into it as well. Shot 2 USPSA matches back in college and just did my first match of the new millenium last month in Fredericksburg. Loved it! Looking forward to shooting a lot more USPSA and 3 gun in the coming years.
