  1. If the fired shell is ejecting, it shouldn't be a power issue. The slugs might be a different story. Just remember that with inertia guns, you are part of the recoil system. The tighter you hold the gun and the firmer you stand, the more likely the gun is to malfunction...it is the opposite of a gas gun...and many people will tell you to do exactly the wrong thing. We recommend the Brenneke home defense or Rio 1 1/8 oz slugs...they have a bit more power. We have had 5 people competing with stoegers for 5 years, so we have seen most of the issues, but we have rarely had issues with rounds not feeding. I would definitely make sure that the tube spring is a bit stronger, to ensure that the shell goes all the way to the rear when it is kicked out. If you can't figure it out, don't hesitate to send it back to Stoeger...their warranty shop is familiar with working on modded guns.
  2. Most of this info is all contained in this thread if you look for it. The short version is that there are several reasons that your bolt may not be going fully into battery. it is made to have a little hitch in the movement, it is an anti bounce feature. all inertia guns have bolt bounce, but if it is bad enough or if something slows the action down it can cause a malfunction. that little hitch in the movement is designed to keep a bolt from bouncing out of battery. Often times if your gun is not going fully into battery, it is either fairly new and has not been broken in, or something is slowing the action down as it is traveling forward. This can be anything from a nick on the edge of the chamber, to shotgun shells that are slightly out of round, to Grease in the action slowing down its movement, to screws projecting from a match saver and dragging on the action spring under the handguard, to a rough extractor cut in the barrel that causes drag on the extractor as the bolt locks and unlocks, to any number of things. The action should be oiled with light oil, and the only areas that should see Grease would be the bolt tailpiece and Cam pin.
  3. Have you checked that your inertia spring inside the bolt is still in one piece? What exactly do you mean by not cycling? People speak in generalities, but there are many nuances that might give clues as to what the real issue is. No matter the gun, fiocchi slugs are on the ragged edge of not functioning, so a lot to lot variation is enough to make them not work...but 1250 AAs should cycle no matter what...that is, if you are talking about 1 1/8oz 1250s... Is that correct?
  4. It is *possible* that the disconnector and/or the hammer is out of spec, but that would just be a guess at this point. Definitely need to check things out more before the cause can be narrowed down.
  5. If the bolt short strokes, the chamber would have any empty shell in it, or no shell at all.
  6. My first guess is that they might need to go back for repair. That is not a common issue. If there is a shell in the chamber, the hammer should be cocked and it should drop when you pull the trigger. When this issues happens, you need to look in the bolt handle slot and see if the hammer is dropped already...sounds like the hammer is following the bolt home. More common would be the action not going fully into battery and when you drop the hammer, it hits the back of the firing pin, but doesn't go off...but you don't seem to be describing that.
  7. I have never seen or heard of this happening...but then, none of my M3000's have a barrel of that design either.
  8. I know people who file them down a little so it doesn't come in contact with the trigger finger while firing, but I truly like it stock. Its easy to put on, and you almost *can't pull the trigger* with the safety on, never brought the gun up still on safe using it!
  9. I would have to say that it looks like too much material has been removed...and in just the wrong place. While it looks to some like we all just grind away at our guns, RCI, MOA, Rose Action, etc have developed specific, tested cuts that avoid issues like this. It is possible that additional port work could potentially(maybe) fix this...in all likelihood you will probably end up with the follower coming out into the receiver in 6 months. In all likelihood a RCI capture follower tube is going to be needed...you can try it yourself...or you can have Mark Roth do it if you want to make sure it is done right.
  10. I heard that Tony wants max of 50 yards and Mike wants more like 80-100 yards max. Where is 200 yards coming from?
  11. Despite what appears to be a lot of discord in here, I would unhesitatingly urge everyone to sign up for this match next year. I am confident that new people will be involved in running the match and that it will rapidly become a must-shoot event. I was blown away by the hospitality shown by the Governor's office and the work that they put into this. Gov Matt Mead wasn't looking for a photo op...he walked-the-walk and tried to put on a major shooting competition. The Governor himself stood there and went through the list, thanking all the sponsors!!! For his part, he hit it out of the park. His other initiative, the grass-roots Wyoming 100 competition is a great way to get people moving toward practical shooting. Magpul and several other companies put out a great prize table. Many aspects of this match deserve to be supported by the industry and every competitor out there. Unlike the people in here throwing stones at anyone that wasn't happy...myself, my family, Alma, Andy, the Marines, and others stayed up late on Sat and woke up early on Sun to help plan a shoot-off stage, put it on the ground, and run it for Gov Mead to watch when he arrived(it replaced CD's cancelled team match). All those people were just there to shoot, but we wanted the match to be a success...we didn't use words...we worked and made it happen. As for CD, this will be my first and last time attending one of their matches. And that has nothing to do with any surly ROs. We have shot over 175 major matches from one end of the country to the other. There are too many great match directors and matches out there to spend my $ on anything less than 1st rate offerings. The CD guys have a different flavor...a flavor that I have never seen before. If you like stages where they deliberately make sure that you can't hear the timer beep, where a physical challenge might take up 80% of the stage, where you have to teach the RO's how to call long range hits and give them your spotting scope to use(and this from a PRS match director?), where the "team side match" was going to be 8 shots total with no movement and cost $40, where the staff refuses to let a TV show film (great coverage for a 1st year match), where the staff is more concerned about being right than getting the scores right, where there is weird/slow paper scoring, where the people in charge give the distinct impression that they don't care, etc, etc, then they might be the guys for you. I could go on for awhile with this, but I think I may have reached the limit for this type of forum. By way of fairness, I will also unhesitatingly say that CD put on one of the most organized and orderly prize tables that I have ever seen. Kudos! If you think this post is just my style, then you don't know me. You can comb through enos forums...you won't find another like it. No more back-and-forth internet commando stuff...if CD or anyone else really wants to hear the full version or has a problem with what I said above, please message me and we can talk it out on the phone like adults. As I said above, despite all this, I would encourage EVERYONE to SHOOT THIS MATCH NEXT YEAR! If I can schedule vacation for the match, I will be there. When a politician wants to partner with us to make a great competitive shooting event, we need to step up and make it happen. This is about much more than a simple shooting match!!!
  12. Kurt, keep digging that hole. Aren't you the guy that wasn't at the match? You are dead wrong again. The competitor walked away in silence when the RO yelled...it wasn't that big a deal. The situation deteriorated when the RO sought out the competitor...and deliberately started messing with the competitor...yelling at the competitor to "PICK ONE!!!" (a random stage briefing card). Who does that kind of thing? He also had words for one of the greats and a guy with no hands...they also didn't do anything unsafe, just something that he didn't like. He loves power...we have all seen RO's like that. He labels himself in his post...not sure why it should make you more uncomfortable than him...in fact, I am not sure why you keep bringing it up...you weren't even at the match.
  13. Kurt, were you at this match? I didn't see you there...were are you getting this from? If you want to tell someone else's lies, that's on you. If your brother feels that he needs to lie to justify why he screams at people, well, that is up to him. Other people were there with eyes. Facts can't be invented.
  14. Owtlaw is expressing just a few of the concerns that many of the competitors had. You don't seem to be taking people's concerns seriously...why is that?
  15. TJ, you should also check to make sure that your inertia spring is in 1 piece...they had a bad batch of them and they crack.
  16. TJ, while you may have other issues going on, ANY time that you have the bolt close on an empty chamber with a Stoeger, you 100% are not using shells that are powerful enough. If the bolt goes all the way to the rear, then there is no way it can go forward without the lifter coming up...thus the bolt is not going all the way to the rear...meaning your shells are underpowered If you are using 1 1/8oz 1200fps, then switch to 1250 or 1300.
  17. Wanted to address an issue here that I don't think has been covered. About 6 months after we got our Stoegers, Tim's gun started having issues with shells not releasing from the tube when the latch was tripped (for say an empty chamber start). While this can happen from removal of too much material on the latch side of the gun/tube...further inspection showed that the latch/latch pin/receiver holes had too much play in them. This slop resulted in the latch sometimes hanging out just far enough to stay on a shell even when the latch was tripped. We estimated that during loading practice in those 1st 6 months, Tim had loaded somewhere between 15,000-25,000 shells...enough that the slamming back and forth had loosened up the holes in the receiver and latch. The simple solution that RCI(XRAIL) came up with was to drill out the receiver and latch for a traditional 1/8" roll pin. That tightened it up to better than it came from the factory, and now (1.5 years later with 2 shooters sharing it) it is still good to go. The factory tolerances are a bit on the loose side, so the more you shoot or load, the quicker this can happen. This is a cheap solution for anyone with this issue. -Mark, Becky, Tim, Sean, and Andrew Yackley
  18. Brandon, is this happening with shells that you have practiced loading with? Loading practice will start to dent the shell bases on dummies and live shells...much sooner that you might think. It might not be very noticeable, but it makes a BIG difference to the shell catch. If this is happening with new shells while shooting, let me know...there are a couple of things that it could be.
  19. Vlad, glad we could help you out! As far as the jam goes, my part solves a different issue. While I have not done what you did(hitting the release), that is a danger for all guns with a 2 piece shell catch. I saw a guy lose a shoot-off when he did that with his 1301. We eliminated that possibility by modifying the Redneck Tactical M2 extended release to fit a stoeger. 10 min with a hammer and dremel and we have made sure it won't happen to us. I recommend that type of extended release for all 2 piece shell catch shotguns.
  20. For all you Stoeger shooter out there...there is a rare malfunction for the Stoegers (M3K, M3000, M3020) that sometimes causes 2 shells to pop out of the tube at the same time (bad jam). It usually happens only with small/light shooters and hotter loads. Out of the 5 of us, we only ever had this issue with Becky on the M3000 and little Andrew on the M3020. It seems more common on the 20 ga guns. If you know anyone that has had this happen, please have them contact me...I engineered a new part that fixes that issue 100%. It is a cheap and easy fix. I gave one of my prototypes to the Turk engineers, but I'm not sure that they are going to update the part since so few people seem to have this problem. It is the shell catch assembly, or specifically they call it the "carrier latch". It needs a rim/ridge along the top edge, similar to what the M2 has. RCI/XRAIL can perform this mod for anyone that asks about it...it is not listed on their site. -Mark Yackley
  21. Not much in WI either. As far as I can tell, the closest thing is over in Michigan...
  22. Many thanks to Denise, JJ, and all the volunteers that put on a great match. The stages were challenging and everything was well run. The scenery was awesome. The prize table and awards were very professionally done. I could not ask for more from any match. All the Yackleys had a great time shooting, and I know that little Andrew had fun riding around with Sgt Gill for a day. Looking forward to next year, Mark, Becky, Tim, Sean, and Andrew
  23. The Yackleys had a great time shooting this match. The stages were fun and challenging. The 90+ round shotgun stage was the best! Loved the stages with no resetting...it really helped the match go quickly. Thanks to all the sponsors and especially Armalite for supporting a great match. Great to see 2 juniors on the winning team. Awesome match! Thanks Dean!
  24. This is a complicated issue...because mine is ON the shelf (I think that all of them are)...but only when the striker is pulling the trigger bar forward (giving you a gap between trigger safety and frame). My issue arises when the slide is out of battery, so as soon as the striker isn't pushing on the trigger bar(slide is OOB), the trigger return spring takes over and pulls the trigger back until the trigger safety is resting on the frame...at this point pretty much ANY glock with a cut down trigger safety will have the bar OFF the drop safety shelf. This is where I am getting slop and it sometimes allows the striker to slide over the trigger bar instead of catching.
