  1. Can you give some details as to what / why you like it more? I'm very interested in hearing your opinion since you have first hand knowledge of both since Rich's gun are some of the best XD's out there for limited division. I could see where a bone stock XDm wouldn't compare but Rich's guns are fantastic. Thans!
  2. I also have some experience in this area. In fact I built my XDm Limited Gun specifically to show that it can in fact run with the big dogs. This year was my first competing in Limited and I took 2nd Place 'B' at Area 5 and 3rd Place 'B' and Indiana. As far as recoil goes I've had several people say they feel the polymer gun absorbs more then the all steel so it feels softer. This is probably a personal preference and opinions will vary. However if you think a heavier gun helps manage that recoil (which I do too) I can tell you my gun weighs in at 42 oz which is right up there with the 2011. In fact STI's website lists the Edge at 37.6 oz so I'd say I'm doing well there. My trigger pull is 2lb 4oz and has extremely short travel; easily less travel then most standard 1911/2011 platforms. A full blown custom 2011 I'd say is slightly shorter and provides more feel on the reset but mines pretty darn close. You just have to have someone set it up that knows what they are doing. A bone stock Edge to a bone stock XDm the Edge will win all day long. A full blown custom XDm from a good smith is a pretty sweet platform and hard to beat. Sure a full custom 2011 would be better but at a much higher price tag. Nothing wrong with a 2011 though; I really like them myself. But I think an XDm holds its own all day with them. While I also like the M&P platform I don't think you can get one set up in Limited trim quite as nice as the XDm. Certainly not as heavy or balanced up front with the choices of tungsten guide rods. In summation I'd say depending on your skill level it might not matter so just go with what you like. For me personal I think I'd shoot just as badly with either platform and since I like the XDm's that's what I went with. Just for reference here's a couple videos of me shooting the XDm for you to see for yourself what you think.
  3. Page 36 Section A "Magazine carrier must: A. Be designed for concealed carry and suitable for all day continuous wear." Nothing in there about adjustable tension. These are just as suitable as any other competition product that's used in IDPA including Comp Tac which is heavily pushed by IDPA. And like I said in the other forum IDPA IS A COMPETITION! Everything that's used is competition gear; if you want training go to Front Sight. The timer and score keeper are there cuz its a game. Everyone has to be getting tired of this same old BS by now....
  4. P32 of the rule book, section D and p34 section E for the holster. P36 E through p39 (with addendums) covers the ammo carriers. I just read all of that and I don't see anything prohibiting adjustable tension for mag carriers.
  5. I can't say if that would fly or not since I don't see how it becomes any less accessible that way?? All I can comment on is that the configuration I used was specifically permitted and I took the screw out all together. I didn't want to press my luck any further
  6. Not sure where you are located but it very well could've been me that you spoke to about them. Just to give an update on the subject I wore the CR Speed Pouches at 9 IDPA major matches in 2012 and never got questioned about them once. In fact at the Pennsylvania match I had the opportunity to show the rig to Terry Burba himself and he said they were 100% legal. He also stated the tape over the hole was not needed so i yook it off. He laughed at the notion of even needing it there in the first place. I was shooting CDP that day so this was with the single stack mags too which are further out than the XDm mags I otherwise would use.
  7. Near the beginning of the season I switched all mine to the 14 lb and have liked that setup so far. I'm currently in the process of testing a 12lb for my minor guns and keeping the 14 for major
  8. I also like and use the speed shooters spacers. Work perfect for M&P and the XDm mags too.
  9. I've got 3 Hornady presses. I load 9 / 40 / 45 / 223 / 308. And a lot of it. No problems at all here. Bullet feeder & case feeder. Took some time to get everything tuned in but once it was its a breeze. Cheaper than the blue press which was my motivation to begin with. I agree with fritzthemoose though; its a Ford vs Chevy thing
  10. Your method sounds pretty good. I got tired of dealing with the screws so I got rid of them all together. I never figured out a way to compress the spring like you did so I just pull the base pad off which of course bends the spring somewhat but thus far it hasn't caused any damage.
  11. I recently switched from the 13 to the 11 and haven't had any issues yet. 147gr @ 130PF.
  12. I ran into the exact same problem as you describe. I was VERY unhappy with this situation as are you and the solution Springfield and I came up with was I sent them the pistol as the wanted and they "tuned" 2 of them for me and just sent me the extra one. Perhaps you can get them to do the same for you.
  13. Got mine today. Dropped right in and works great! Very nice addition to the M&P.
  14. Glad to hear someone got theirs at least...back to waiting for me I guess.
  15. Im between 8-900 per hour. Case & bullet feeder. I have 15 tubes pre filled also. I stop every 2 hours to weigh powder and measure coal. Dillon sizing die, hornady seater, lee factory crimp die
  16. These triggers are very workable. I have a 2lb 14oz trigger pull weight using the factory striker spring and Im not even using the competition triger spring. I still suggest you have one of the big 3 gunsmiths (Daniel @ PRP / Scott @ Springer / Rich @ Canyon Creek) do the job for you for the best results. Im partial to the PRP set up myself but Im biased. I have the same parts in 4 XDm's and have made the pull weights vary from 2 lb to 5lb depending on the application.
  17. Anyone get an update? Its May 10 now and I havent seen mine yet and the website still shows backordered. ???
  18. I don't know if the Recoil Master is legal in IDPA or not for sure but the tungsten guide rod is definitely not IDPA legal so if you want to shoot CDP then don't go that way.

  20. Correct....both 9mm and .40 come with the same springs. This is true for the 4.5" and 5.25" models.
  21. On the IDPA forum we got a reply from Robert Ray through Ted Murphy that said they are fine if they meet the criteria and if the adjustment knob was replaced with a screw so it cant be changed on the fly. I dont think they are faster per say but if thats what someone prefers and it meets the rulebook then it should be allowed. For me I dont have a comp tac either so if one was in the market for a double pouch why not use the cr pouch? Just boils down to personal preference I think. Since Ive been using the stock xd double pouch for 12 years Ive come to like the slight 10 degree cant and these would allow me to keep that angle if I should desire. And if you play both games its nice to have some common equipment too i suppose.
  22. I agree and understand what youre talking about Brian. Im hoping to use his post to steer the ship down the path of these being accepted. Again it seems like in everyones opinions these meet the rules. We just have to get psst the MD subjectiveness you talked about. Thanks for your help trying to get this topic undetstood.
