  1. I shoot a 100 gr SWC from ibejiheads. Very soft shooting and pretty accurate.
  2. I think you should get an x-cal, and then let me shoot it. Really, they seem like pretty slick guns but I would hate to spend that kind of money on one without ever holding it first. You are welcome to shoot my P09 sometime but its in .40. I can load up some soft ammo and probably make it feel like a 9mm though.
  3. Nice. What is she shooting that out of, looks a little longish OAL for my guns.
  4. For steel challenge I run a 100gr Ibejihead SWC over 3.4gr of titegroup out of a XDM 5.25. You need a broken in 14lb recoil spring for that to work, I also have a lower power striker spring as part of my powder river trigger kit, that may help as well. You also need to maintain a pretty firm grip, not because of recoil, but the gun needs a solid base to work against to function. Not much more recoil than a .22, makes about a 109 PF. This load is also pretty accurate. I tried a 95 gr RN bullet one time but no matter the load I couldnt get any kind of decent accuracy out of them, looked like shotgun patterning. Probably not enough bearing surface on those to work well.
  5. No slide milling required, springer precision sells a mount specifically for the Burris FF3. Just take the screw out of the factory sight, tap it out, slide the springer precision mount in and locktite the set screws. Took me about 10 min total. Had it zeroed in less than 10 rounds. Did this mainly for fun, but will probably shoot Action Pistol/Bianchi cup matches with it. Next move is to get some cajun gun works goodies and work on the trigger, get it smoother and lighter. Ive been an XDM shooter for a long time but Im starting to consider a complete change to CZ's. They just shoot so nice and accurate.
  6. Have a little update since my last range outing. I spoke to one of the bullet dudes about their bullets and he shared some info with me. They are going to change up a couple things, one being the packaging-no more tubes, and the other is the hardness of their alloy. Seems Im not the only one who had less than stellar results with the current formulation so they have made the decision to up the hardness level. I will be getting new samples to try out in the next few days so we will see how they do. In the meantime I decided to try the .40 cal bullets I already have in a little more detail. Loaded up some to lower power factor loads and must say they shot much better. Best group was with n320 powder loaded to the low 140's PF, under a two inch group at 25 yds with one flyer that was definately me, I knew I pulled it as soon as the shot broke. Shot a load with titegroup loaded to about the same PF that did real well also. Still looking forward to the new harder formula and will post up those results when I load and shoot some of them. On a side note, shooting my CZ P09 with a Burris FF3 red dot is a blast. That's what I shot the following 10 round group with from a rest at 25yds, one flyer on me.

    Carry Optic P09

Nice. Is that the springer precision mount? I just put that and a FF3 on my P09 and sighted it in this past weekend. Very sweet setup and so dang accurate.
  8. So yesterday I had a chance to shoot the Bullet Dudes rounds I had loaded up. I loaded up test rounds using titegroup, SR7625, N320, and one batch of the 147's using e3. When I am trying out a new load I try to keep all things as consistent as possible. The first 10 I run over the chrono to make sure the load is doing about what Im expecting, and then I fire rounds from a rest out to 25 yds to check the accuracy. I do this at my gun club, use the same bench and the same pistol rest, shooting targets stapled to the same places on the target backer, again, trying to keep things as consistent as possible short or using a Ransom Rest. Unfortunately I didnt get the results I was hoping for as far as accuracy goes. All rounds were shot out of my XDM 5.25, not a bullseye pistol but pretty accurate. The 125 gr loads were the worst, had at least double the flyers, and groups about 50% larger than usual. The 147's were better, but not as good as most other coated lead I shoot. All the 125 gr loads were loaded to mid 130's power factors, the 147's were loaded to the low 130's power factor except the e3, it was loaded to the low 140's PF range. The standard deviations were mid to upper teens, which is higher than what I usually see. For perspective, the most accurate load I have for this gun is 124 Precision Delta JHP and Hornady HAP's, off a rest they shoot just under a 2" group, almost never a flyer. The best coated lead bullets I shoot are generally 3 to 3 1/2" groups, with the occasional flyer. The best I got out of the bullet dudes with the 125's was with the SR7625 load, it was about a 5" group, with the 147's the best load was also with SR7625 at about 4". Im going to load them both a little hotter and a little softer and try again to see if things tighten up, but right now Im not too happy with them. I did have a chance to do one load with the 170 .40's. Wanted to do more but just ran out of time. It was with titegroup loaded to about a 158 power factor. My .40 cal gun is a CZ P09 and I just put a Burris FF3 on top of it. Unfortunately the Bullet Dude bullets didnt impress me in this caliber either. I made up some similar weight loads to get sighted in with using some random 180gr plated FP bullets I had lying around, Ive had them so long I dont even remember what brand they are. Anyway, after Im all sighted in, shooting less than 2" groups with the plated rounds, I shot the Bullet Dudes and got about 3 1/2 in. groups. Maybe with some more development I can get them shooting better, but right now Im not impressed. I had no trouble with leading, wasnt expecting any as I have been loading coated bullets a long time now and never have before. Did notice just a little smoke with all the loads but nothing to be concerned about. Unfortunately loads that work well with other coated bullets I use didnt work that well with the bullet dudes, maybe with more experimentation they will get there.
  9. What I have found with n320 is a powder that does everything extremely well. Yes, it shoots soft and very clean, but also very consistent. The powder itself is a light gray tube shape that meters very well, its physically a little larger in size so it fills the case better and the color makes it easy to see inside the case before placing a bullet on top. Since it has slightly larger granules it doesnt leak from my powder measure like many other powders do. It doesnt stick to the sides of the powder measure, the plastic funnel I use to put back unused powder between loading sessions, or anything else that I have seen so far. Every part of using it is just plain better than any other powder I have used so far. The cost part doesnt bother me as its only about 1 cent per shot or less. I have quite a bit of titegroup and SR7625 on hand that have been my go to powders mainly, and shooting those powders vs n320 yield very similar results but given the whole big picture from start to finish n320 is just plain better.
  10. I just came upon some n320 this year for the first time. Now I understand why people love it so much. Definately try it, to me its worth the extra money.
  11. Yup.Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk How do you figure?Precisondelta .40 180g go for about .12/ bullet (after bulk discount) Bullet dudes .40 are about .09/ bullet (after 10% off for uspsa members) Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk So this is what I was looking at. 2000 124gr coated from Bullet Dudes, $174.28 shipped. 2000 124gr fmj from Precision Delta, $176 shipped. 2000 124gr jhp from Prcision Delta, $178 shipped. <---- (most accurate bullet I've tested for my gun) I normally order 2k bullets at a time because I don't shoot as much as others. But if we were to look at ordering in a bit more of a bulk order (minus the discount for USPSA shooter, because I'm not one)... 5k 124gr from BD, $425.61 shipped. 5k 124gr fmj from PD, $440 shipped. At such an insignificant difference in price, I'd rather have a less smokey bullet that I know is tried and true. I believe you have forgotten the 10% discount you can get by using the coupon code comp10 they mention on their website. That makes 5k of the 124gr $425.61-42.56= $383.05 per 5k, or 7.6 cents per. Precision delta is 8.9 cents per thousand as long as you order at least 2000. Precision delta and HAP's are currently the most accurate bullet I load, I will find out tomorrow what the bullet dude bullets will do. If they are at least close to as accurate they may make a good alternative as lead makes the same power factor with less powder so recoil should be a bit less.
  12. One drawback to Hy-Tek coated bullets, some people say they smell like burning plastic or something to that effect. I am not overly sensitive to it but it does have a very specific smell. Some powders or load combinations may be worse than others but I believe there will be some smell no matter what your load is. It is not dangerous.
  13. Yes. I started a separate thread in this forum about that instead of clogging this one up. Loaded some last night, plan to shoot them tomorrow if nothing comes up.
  14. So I loaded up some of the 9mm last night, came away with a few observations. The plastic tubes are a pain in the ass to get the bullets out of, I had to squeeze and bend and shake to get them out, and that was just the 9mm, I imagine the .40's will be a bigger pain. The bullets themselves are very nice but still have the usual dings and nicks you see on any cast/coated bullets, which I imagine are part of the casting/coating process as much as the shipping process, so I am not seeing any benefit to the tubing. I would rather see them drop the tubes and the prices, and go to more usual packaging. Some of the bullets had some extra flashing around the bases on one side, most likely due to their coating process. Didnt really effect loading, hopefully it wont be enough to effect the accuracy. The actual bullet weights are spot on with the information sheets numbers so it seems they do weigh a sample of each batch. My wife really likes the purple color, if that gets her excited about shooting more I will buy more of them for that reason alone. I loaded both the 124's and 147's with titegroup, SR7625, and N320, at loads I use for other similar style bullets so it will be easy to see how they compare to what I know works well. Plan to shoot these Wednesday, if not definately over the weekend, and will post chrono and accuracy report then.
  15. Let me say this, Ive ordered a lot of bullets from a lot of different places but Ive never seen bullets shipped like this before. My order consisted of 3 sample packs, two in 9mm one in .40, in three different colors. I opened the first box to see this cover page on top of the bullets, and yes the two holes in the logo are test fired bullet holes: Lots of info there, but the crazy part was what was underneath. They ship their bullets out in plastic tubes, 11-15 bullets per tube depending on the size bullet. Looks like this: The bullets themselves arrived in good shape. My guess is they sit them all upright and use an electrostatic sprayer to powder coat them as the bottoms are not coated. That is total speculation though. Anyway the bullets are 124gr CN and 147gr FP in 9mm, and 170gr FP in .40 and look like this: All three sample pack boxes had the same type cover sheet listing the bullet specific info and had test fired holes in them. I can only assume these guys are really serious about getting their bullets to you in really good condition. I cant imagine how long it takes to stuff bullets into tubes, maybe they have a process that is more efficient than what I'm envisioning. Anyway I plan to load some up this week and hopefully shoot some on Wednesday, I will provide some results and chrono info afterward.
  16. I have loaded 165's over 2.8 gr of titegroup, it's a decent load but I get better accuracy from 147gr rounds with not much more recoil. There's just not much load data for 165's.
  17. Powder coated. Baked on, very uniform and tough.
  18. There is a pretty detailed thread at ar15.com about the pro chucker 5. Seems to be a great press, but has an Achilles heel being the primer slide. Apparently it breaks a lot. Guy who has one doing the review had to debur the primer system to be able to run the press but everything else seems to be really good. If RCBS gets the primer slide system worked out and gets a good case feeder the boys in blue (and red) are going to have some very serious competition. I'm at my wits end with my Lee equipment, if RCBS gets the primer system straight there might be some green on my bench in the near future.
  19. Wes, glad you found your way here, it's good to have your input. Looks like tracking puts my order scheduled for Saturday. Should be able to load some up and see what they can do next week. I'll post up a review, probably in a new thread.
  20. I have always had good luck with the blue bullets and fast shipping. FYI, you will get blue fingers when loading them. Doesnt seem to hurt anything, their bullets have always worked well for me. However I noticed they have gone to sizing the 9mm bullets to .355, I like at least .356 and prefer .357.
  21. My guess is they have gotten their hands on some older molds. Thats not necessarily a bad thing, I shoot a lot of coated bullets that have a lube groove.
  22. Bullet to barrel fit is one of the most important things for accuracy. If it was me I would try .358 plated, definately .358 cast and you may even be better off with .359 cast.
  23. It was 3 sample packs, one of each of their 9mm weights and one of the .40, 250 per pack. The order was in three different colors, but you would think they would have enough samples on hand to get them out quickly, or at least let you know a more realistic time frame. First impressions are really important to a new company especially when they are entering an increasingly crowded market with some awfully good competition.
  24. Still no bullets yet. After the email about not having one of the colors I ordered, a couple days later I got another email about them finishing my order but they always test fire a couple samples to make sure the finished product was performing well. Another day or so I got an email that my order was complete and was being packed up for shipment, I think that was either Friday or Saturday. Nothing else came so I figured I would have my order by Tuesday. No order in the mail Tuesday but I did get an electronic USPS shipping notification in my email. That did not get updated til today with expected delivery on Saturday. So far Im not too impressed, if their bullets dont really show me something special this will be my only order with the bullet dudes. Im guessing they are just getting started, maybe work other jobs and are doing this on the side, and thats fine, but there are way too many other options out there of known excellant quality, cheaper, with much faster shipping times.
