  1. Hi Ian Got mine from C-rums on here also, cost was $55 for the new lifter + $10 shipping to the UK, sounds like the price has gone up by $5 since I got mine earlier in the year, mine was slightly too long & was catching the inside of the receiver when I fitted it but was an easy two minute fix with a dremel, its worked flawlesly all year & I have never trapped my thumb since it was fitted. N
  2. +2 with Kelly I got hold of one back in the summer & its a usefull bit of kit, I like the side zip which allows access to you gear without having to open the top, it also holds two 3 litre water resorvoirs if you need them & also carries a long gun, as we mainly shoot shotgun only matches here in the UK its a good all in one gun/range bag & its airline carry on size so good for the odd excursion abroad, the only drawback is that its not the cheapest option out there. 3. The IPSC rule was changed in January of 2006 If my memory is correct, IPSC tried the length restriction route to begin with but came up against similar problems, some guns using 65mm shells could hold 10 but only 9 with 70mm shells, in an attempt to make it work dummy shells were machined to a length of 58mm +/- 1mm (length of the average unfired shell) & were used at sign in to check competitors guns, now although this gave people a known & declared standard to adhere too it was an incredibly slow process & in a large matchs LIII & above would be almost unworkable, the fix was as stated here, make it 9 at the start only, its much easy for the RO's to count the rounds into the gun than try to spot guns that dont comply to a bunch of size rules. As a interesting note, even with the new ability within the rules to have longer mag tubes at the IPSC Level IV Shotgun match in Greece in Sept 2006 (ESC 06) most competitors in the Standard Divisions (pump & auto) chose to keep there guns short & 9/10 capacity was the favoured option, the need for a gun that was quick to handle seems more important than capacity. 4. I have a couple of pics I saved from a thread on here but I dont remember the original posters name, I have not done this mod & Kurt if you read this, is this what your sugesting ? Oh & slap Mikey for me when you get to Benning
  5. Hi Iain Graham Hill said he fitted an oversize button for an M1/M2 to his nova, it did require a small amount of dremel work to the receiver to create enough clearance for the larger button. By the way I have a supernova sat at Pete Starley's waiting for me to collect so let me know how you get on. N
  6. Ok so what's the score with foreign visitors bringing foreign guns into the US for a short time to shoot a match ? Do these rules only apply to guns remaining in the US on a permanant basis ? N
  7. Carl Must not exceed 1320mm in total length (must fit in a box) As posted earlier by Neil B N
  8. At the IPSC european shotgun championships in 2003 & again in 2006 I saw open guns/tubes capable of holding 18 rounds (17 + 1) most were Benelli's as I recall.
  9. I had a couple of old choate tubes & they also rust along the seam & the end caps work loose, I have also had a tacstar tube seperate from the threaded nut leading to a yard sale of rounds & parts, the two Nordic tubes I use now are just superb, the extruded aluminium main tube is seamless & very light, its so clean inside it looks like the inside of a new shotgun barrel, the machine work is good & the grooves in the nut match the Benelli original very nicely. After years of using various tubes I would say Nordic are about the best I have seen. N
  10. Hey Guys Here's the link. http://www.xssights.com/store/specialty.html I took at look down Trapr's & liked it a lot so got one on order, but its not shown up yet My M2 shoots slug high & right & I noticed Trap's sight was a little way over to the left in the dovetail so is that a common habit found in Benelli or just a coincidence & is there anything special I should be aware of when mounting the sight. N
  11. Im listening amigo & I took no chances this time I got the dremmel out, works for me & life is good N
  12. Good luck with the match guys, wish I could be there, be sure & post us a picture or two of the action. N
  13. Even if it's proven to be faster I dont think I would go back to a Remington just so I could use the shuffle technique. the gun will be sure to let you down at sometime negating what little advantage it may have given you, weak hand loading & a Benelli is the way forward
  14. Hey Kurt/Trapr your always welcome in "Brummi" land amigos ! Kimel If you have an "easy loader" on your 1100 switching to the Benelli will make the weak handed method a lot easier, for me the easy loader just got in the way & knocked shells out of my hands as I tried to load. Some say the Benelli recoils harder but to be honest once the beep goes off I never even notice. N
  15. Hi Trapr hope your well amigo, I only got the new M2 because finding a used M1 here was much harder because the used market is a lot smaller, much easier to buy a new one but not the cheapest option a agree, the M2 is just a face lift on the M1 platform, a few tweeks here & there with the shape of the reciever & add the comfortech stock, the trigger guard/group is now also synthetic & the forend is a slightly different shape, but nearly all parts will interchange between M1/M2 Benelli still offer the M1 brand new but its now only available in 20 Gauge, if you want 12 Gauge its gonna have to be an M2. N
  16. I shot Remingtons for many years but gave them up for the same reasons as most people, they always seem to let you down at the worst time, I lost a lot of points at the European Championships in Italy back in 2003, so I switched to a Browning Gold, great gun when it would work, but always had trouble feeding slug which cost me points in Greece 2006 & so after finally listening to Kurt I got the Benelli M2, man I should have listened sooner & saved myself a lot of money & pain, the M2 is just the best shotgun I have ever shot when it comes down to reliability, I got it back in February & have given it some heavy use since then & in all that time I have had only one malfunction, that came after some 200+ rounds fired at the British Open match last month, Kurt said it looked a little dry & to oil the rails a little more which I did & the gun continued to function perfectly for the rest of the match. Get the M2 Field & life will be good !!!!!!!!!!!! Get the 24" Barrel & you can come play this side of the pond with it N
  17. You may be right Not May Be, Kurt IS right, weak hand loading is not as difficult to learn as people make out, the trouble is people try to go too fast with it before they have built up the muscle memory & fumble a lot, then they just give up on the idea saying "I cant do it" or "its fumble prone" the key for me was to slow it right down to begin with, I unscrewed the end off my magazine tube (Nordic Components) removed the spring & follower & just fed all the shells off my belt untill it was empty, this gives many slow repetitions & as you get better at it you will naturally just get faster, No magic powers required ! N
  18. I guess thats would be mine then mate ! It had almost cracked right through when I spotted it while cleaning my gold, I have a sporting clays light piston in this gun which may or may not have caused higher bolt speeds with heavy loads which may be part of the cause im not sure, anyway an M2 seems to have solved the problem N
  19. Hi Kurt Why collapse the spring ? looking at the spring & the latch pivot point it seems to be working with you in pushing the latch out of the way when shells feed out from the magazine & when you push them into it, its the shape of the latch at the end which seems to be different & makes the shells harder to insert ? when I fitted my enlarged carrier release button I removed the latch & bent it slightly at the point where the two indentations are cut into the top & botton edges of the latch about an inch back from the front end & polished it as you mentioned, it works great now. n
  20. I heard similar coments when I along with Martin & Alex RO'd this stage on the Sunday, although lots of people got it wrong, the trick was to keep moving your muzzle against the swing motion of the chair & shooting the target that became "open" this made aiming easier but if you sat there & kept the muzzle still & took shots as you swung it was a lost cause !
