  1. Never shot sporting clays, but have shot plenty of skeet with my 3gun shotgun. It's a 26" SX3 so it's really not that far off from a skeet gun. Last time out I had 2 games of 24/25 my best ever. Then I decided I would shoot everything starting at port arms. Station 8 was a real challenge. Before I got the SX3 I shot it with a 870 and was normally in the high teens.
  2. Don't buy the WE tech, it won't fit bladetech holsters without heavy modification. KSC should fit. I know you want quality, but you won't ever see the same quality as a real Glock until you pay real Glock prices. Just something a person needs to accept when working with airsoft. It is still a good tool and I could see it being great for force on force training at a much cheaper cost than sim munitions.
  3. I couldn't find a G34 clone, so I got 2 G17s. 1 WE tech and 1 KSC. KSC is a slightly better build quality, and fits in my bladetech where the WE won't. WE has a heavier slide and seems to recoil more. I got it from airsplat for $175. Red wolf airsoft sells them for cheaper but they are in Hong Kong. Go to evike for new fiber optic sights, and a co2 mag. You can get 100+ shot per cylinder and it won't stink up your house.
  4. I got one nook rooted using google play from my computer, but now I can't seem to get the rest of them to go. It says I haven't opened google play on them recently, and to do that and come back. My computer doesn't recognize 'connect' as a valid command. The search function of the market on the nook doesn't like searching for practiscore, but I can download apps it suggests on the front page. I can find andexplorer on the amazon store, but it doesn't seem to download. Does anyone know why the ADB connect is recognized as a valid command, or how to fix it? Don't worry about all that. I was able to find a explorer without using the search function and instal via a sd card.
  5. We have a guy work keeps trying to use his on a 22 rifle at steel challenge. Timers don't pick the shots up reliably and it is just a pain. I have a 22 silencer and have brought it out to SC before. It was for a new shooter that wasn't concerned about times. I probably won't use one in Multigun, unless it is a prop gun. Too heavy, too long, and don't compensate well as a real compensator. Not to mention the timer issues.
  6. Yes the gun is legal to compete. Locally we rarely have a rifle stage over 30 rounds. And I feel the moving fast and knowing stage breakdown has a bigger impact than what your shooting. As for long range I watched plenty of shooters struggle because they didn't know stable positions, or didn't know their zeros. I think one guy hadnt even had shot his rifle past 25 yds. If you know your holds, and have shot them you will be better off than 1/4 of the local shooter right off the bat. Knowledge is power and knowing is half the battle
  7. Go to sincityuspsa.com to register for the 2012 Halloween Hose fest. Shooters can sign up for Saturday the 3rd of November or Sunday the 4th. You will shoot the 6+ stages and at least 350 rounds in one day. It should be a big fun match after the nationals. Cost is $50 if you don't get a t shirt, $65 with one. We will be posting t shirt and stage designs when we get them finalized. If you change your mind on the shirt after registering let us know as soon as possible so we can change the order. We will probably have a few left over at the match, but don't count on your size being available and they will be $20. hope to see you all there
  8. So they don't even have written stage briefings? I would bring it up if you go again, but I don't know if it would make any difference. In this I added a picture of the stage brief before every stage. It isn't meant to be a replacement for the rule book, but it provides the RO/shooters guidance so everyone is shooting the same stage. If that is all you have that's all you have, but I don't think I would enjoy myself. I'm probably a little spoiled though. See what you can do to change their minds in the off season. At least posting a written stage brief and sending out an email with standardized rules would go a long way. Don't try to change the whole match at one go though. Let them have the mandated shooting positions for now. Another option is to volunteer to design/build a freestyle stage. It may be a lot of work but think of all the future drive time you will save.
  9. I have been to one that had oddball rules, and penalties that nobody could explain to me. I haven't been back. I don't mind a different rule set, but you need to have a copy available for the competitor someplace. We have mandated positions for long range rifle and you will even see that at USPSA Nationals. They won't mandate prone or sitting, but from tower "A" or ramp "B". Most matches will also have a max time on their courses. If you are unable to finish it in that time you will be told to unload and show clear. Penalties may vary from marking you down the max time to marking the max time plus any targets you didn't get to yet. You are never DQ'd because you took too long. A DQ means packing up your gear because you are done for the day. I grew up in NE South Dakota, and spent 3 years in Rapid City so I know how the drives can be.
  10. I care about my scores, but I also trust the scorekeeper did their job. Yes it has bit me in the past, I've had score sheets with no times and no steel marked before. Im sure the stats person hates when people don't total the hits, but I know they hate it more when they total them wrong.
  11. Small rifle primers may not fire in striker fired guns. They didn't work 100% in my stock G34. I would have liked to stock just one small primer.
  12. I've never shot a STI open or otherwise. I got the SJC open glock because it came up for sale locally for $1350 with 2 big sticks, and a DAA holster. Seemed like a good deal to try open without breaking the bank. Just made A with it, and I like shooting open so it's a keeper. If I see a great deal on an open STI I may pick one up. Don't think the Glock is holding me back, I would just want to see what all the fuss is about.
  13. Come on out, we are a pretty easy going group for the most part. If you don't have all the gear don't worry there is normally somebody that will let you borrow something for a stage. Get a hold of Pete he has a new shooters class that should help get the hang of competition shooting. It includes a free match so if you think of it like that it is free. There is also a Monday night steel challenge match at Clark County Shooting Park 4pm-10pm. It is open squading so you can show up anytime between 4-8 and shoot. There are separate divisions for 22s and 22 rifles as well as several centerfire divisions.
  14. I started with CCI SRP in my 9 major loads (8gr hs6 & 124 berrys). It worked fine, but I had a couple of light strikes so I tried Fed 200. Primer isn't flattened at all, cratering is hard to judge as its a Glock. Only thing is I seem to have lost a dozen or so FPS. Not a big deal as I was 175+ last time I chronoed but it was 105 degrees in the shade. I will need to monitor it as it gets cooler here.
  15. Doesn't matter much to me, but our match director likes to setup the day before the match and do open squading 7-10 am. This is fine on Sunday as some people can come out Saturday and setup, but most people work on Fridays so there isn't much help then. Only way Saturday matches are sustainable is if we setup the day of the match, which eliminates open squading and pushes the start to at least 8 as the range doesn't open till 6. When we did setup the same morning we always had late starts, and in the summer heat you want to start as early as you can.
  16. Got the new slide back from Evike. I would have liked a prepaid return shipping label, but they did refund the shipping so it worked out in the end. I also got it to fit the DAA with a little sanding on the trigger guard. Still a no go for the Bladetek. Does anyone know where you can get a cmore mount for the airsoft Glocks?
  17. I agree with Bunchies95, you have to have a moderate amount of skill to enjoy the game. I am a low B shooter who doesn't practice much but goes to a match almost every weekend and shoots steel challenge on Monday nights. I do want to get better, but if I start practicing a lot and dedicate myself I will get frustrated if I don't see results at the match. As it is I have nice excuse for why I don't do better. We have got some new shooters in from a non shooting competive background and they have jumped in with both feet and have made more progress in 6 months than I made in 3 years. They know what they want and are willing to do what it takes to get there.
  18. I don't like being swept either, but we are being swept when the pistol is bagged you just don't see the muzzle. I know I've opened plenty of bagged/cased pistols and had them faced the wrong way.
  19. 124 berrys at 1.16 coal mixed brass cci small pistol 4.3 bullseye = 135 PF at Douple Tap Ranch out of a G34.
  20. I just bought a WE17 from Evike, and the slide is cracked. I didn't really look it over closely until after I had racked it a couple of times and dry fired it. But there is a crack through the slide running from the right forward portion of the "ejection" port forward about a 1/4" inch. I sent a message to Evike's RMA service but wanted to see what people had to say here. Does anyone know if there is a bare replacement slide? I know I can get another complete slide for $50, but I was hoping for something cheaper. Never dealt with their RMA process, so I'm not sure if I will be on the hook for shipping both ways. If so not sure how worth it will be. Or if I can shoot it as is. I don't have the propane adapter in yet so it will be a few days before I get to shoot it either way. To top it all off it doesn't want to fit into my Bladetek G34 hoster, nor my DAA holster. I'm not sure how beneficial this will be. It seemed like it was the closest to the real thing but the slide is too wide to fit in the Bladetek. I'm not quite sure why it won't fit in the DAA but I'm sure I could sit down with a calipers and sandpaper and make the trigger gaurd match my G34.
  21. I like mine well enough, but deploying it at speed is not a strong point. The standard height will be fine unless you are shooting at a target that is a lot higher than you. This isn't an issue due to how most ranges are designed, but if you find yourself hunting in the mountains it may come up. The Harris is 90% of the bipod for half the price, but that seems how most things are.
  22. I've seen one guy shoot an AUG/MSAR at a local 3gun match. It seemed like it was his first time out, or at least in a while as I didn't recognize him. Mag changes weren't the issue with 42 round mags. It was the longer targets, and the positions you shot from. AR's were able to rest the handgaurd on the tower railing whereas the AUG couldn't. It seemed like it was more difficult to build a solid position utilizing a front rest with the AUG. The only plus seems to be the OAL, but from what I see it doesn't matter. I think in most COF you could add 5" to the end of anyone's rifle and they wouldn't be any slower.
  23. .40 is minimum caliber for major as well as the straight minimum in HM tactical as the rules are currently written. After these rules come out I don't think there will be many matches that will continue to use hit factor scoring. When they switch to time plus then all the major/minor stuff goes out the window so it is even less of an issue.
  24. Wow if you have to hold 5' then your probably better off just taking the penalty. Farthest shot I've taken in a match is 400 yds. 12' to 5' is a great improvement. If I have to shoot a big match with real LR targets then I might go through the trouble off running heavy bullets.
