  8. Thats hilarious ;-) I hope you didn't mess up the stage to much anyways!
  9. I understand that "allows" means "makes it possible". To my understanding a shooter would "allow" the gun to point uprange even if the wind turned the gun so that it points up range. If you don't allow something to happen, that should also mean that you prevent that from happening even If you didn't cause that. In that case it would clearly be a DQ. Ps. Please bear in mind that English is not my mother tounge.

  12. ....you don't have a pen and use lead bullets do write stuff down because they just happen to lie on your desk.
  13. The First stage was 32 rounds. There were at least 8 or 9 shooting positions and you had to stand in the exact right spot to see the targets. The other stage that I messed up had mini IPSC targets 1 shot per targer and I engaged one pair of targets twice (visible from two positions) wich caused and aditional stationary reaload. I didn't FTE or anything but I strive for perfection and what I did there was far from perfect.
  14. I REALLY REALLY liked the idea to volunteer to shoot first. Well, at first I won't like it but I think it's great practise. For the most part I'm able to switch into "shooting the match" mode quite well, since I'm the one that comes up with about half the ideas for stages even at non match club days. Thanks for all the tips. Let's hope I do better next time.
  15. I was actually there for the setup and the two stages that I messed up were the two that I made up, but thats not what this is about. It is a good idea though to have a good look at the stages befor the match starts and actually thinking about the walkthrough
  16. 2 Walkthroughs are not enogh for me on long complex stages. I need one just to "understand" where the targets are. One to work out where my shooting positions are. Work out movement. One or two "airgunning" and then I can visulize the stage. Then I might have to take another couple off looks at the stages. The good thing is that I really know what I'm doing that way, but it takes more time than I have if I'm one of the first shooters.
  17. On my last monthly match I was 3rd 2nd 1st and last shooter. I had a lot of trouble doing my walkthrough and planing out my stage. First one was just a modified El Pres, so that was alright but the 2. and 3. stage (2. and first shooter) was really hard for me. We had ~7min for our walkthrough, and I just had time to plan out my strategy, but couldn't refine in and burn it into my subconcuous. That was also reflected in the results: Seconds on first stage Fifth on 2nd and 3rd stage First on last stage What advice can you give to speed up the walkthrough, stage planing and burning into subconcious. PS. Round counts were 12, 32, 12 and 24.
  18. Last practise session I "tried" to shoot a bill drill. Well, I fired 8 shots insted of the 6....
  19. Thanks guys. The tip with the head is very good, I will have to remember that. Just one more note about the Draw, I've been "tyro" until last sunday, This is basicly my 20th draw with a loaded gun or so. Yes the food and drinks is probably the one thing that I miss most in germany. (Yes beer is legal at 16 years old) Lennard
  20. I finally got the chance to film some of my shooting. This is 3 El Prez drills... well inspired by el prez drills (not surrender position and targets a bit too close) anyhow Times: 7.30 ish, 6.25 and 6.20 All 36 shots on target mainly Alpha Charly The things that I noticed: -Messed up first reload, the mag didn't drop free. -I sort of put my head down while shooting. I knew that before but I find it hard to lose that habit. -The realoads weren't great but we are not alowed to point the gun upwards while realoading and i can't reach the mag release without moving my hand, so I'm quite happy with what I did. Some more information about myself: 17yo First IPSC exprerience in october 2010 Using a club Glock 17 Gen3 ----> hard to reach mag release and I can't dry fire Goin back to germany in 2 weeks and have to wait till 18 before I can continue IPSC well... thats about it. Looking forward to hearing some critiqe Lennard
  21. Have a look at the European Front Sight magazine http://www.uspsa.org/EuroAnnual11/ On page 8-9 is an article about he european steel challange. A german shooter used a semi-auto MP5 for open class. Unfortunately he had several malefunctions.
  22. I agree with that one, you should practise that for damage reduction, since it's not your first messed up reload *sarcasm off*
  23. Try shooting one stage as fast as you can (be reasonable ). That helped me to see were my limits are. The key is to only shoot this once every couple of weeks and not all the time, since it is not what you want to be doing in competition.
  24. Before IPSC I was shooting ISSF airpistol and if I swaped guns with someone we always had to adjust our sights to hit the centre. That is for a 1/4" target. I'm not sure about the relevace in IPSC or IDPA. As long as you shoot consistant groups I see no problem in adjusting the sights to get them to the centre.
