  1. I am in the process of getting a JP rifle and am not sure which offset iron sight to get. I will be using it for 3gun. I have tried the JP short range tactical sight and liked it but I wasn't sure if there are better options out there. If so, please share...
  2. Definitely go JP. Their drop in trigger group is pretty good too.
  3. You aren't too old at all, we have a guy that shoots with us who is in his mid 60's and is still up near the top of the list for high overall in most matches (i know in IDPA we don't keep track of high overall). Keep shooting and have fun with it.
  4. Literally laughing out loud at this comment... But completely true
  5. If I had not already bought the Dawson Ice magwell, I would have gone with the SVI. I didn't know about it when I bought the Ice...
  6. I was really impressed with the clarity of the trijicon glass, what other brands should I be checking out? I'm new to the optic world used to the iron sights. Any info would be appreciated
  7. I don't have much experience with optics, but I used an acog the other day and was amazed at the clarity. I probably won't be going out past 300 or 400 yards around here (stupid northeast). I guess I am not tied to either of those so more suggestions are definitely welcome. I like the idea of picking up the ambient light so I think that's what pushed me toward trijicon in the first place. I saw there is about a 300 price difference between the acog and the tr24(from the site I was looking at).
  8. I'm looking at scopes for my AR and am not sure if I want to go with the 4x acog or the tr24. I will be using it for 3gun and I have the side mounted sight for the close stuff. What do you guys think?
  9. I believe they make them all in house... I'm about to buy one
  10. I do plan on using it in 3gun
  11. I am going to be having a jp rifle built and I wanted to know what comp people preferred the large comp versus the recoil eliminator... Let me know, thanks
  12. You should be good to go, I haven't had issues with either the old style or new style mags. They both functioned flawlessly with my m&p
  13. +1 to that, I run an STI Sentry in 9mm with factory ammo all day, never had an issue with the Tripp mags and the metalform mag that it came with, this is the first 1911 i can say has run 100% out of the box (I have even had a Nighthawk that had an issue though that may have been because I was testing too light of a recoil spring). I have 2 friends that i shoot with that have Trojans neither 1 was flawless out of the box with Tripp mags, the other was running the dawson precision mags and he has been happy with it. sorry you are having issues with it I would definitely say it is the exception and not the norm.
  14. How bout the mossberg 930 JM Pro series?
  15. The extended slide stops are now legal for CDP and ESP if you were interested. They made them legal last year with some other clarifications
  16. You are right, I saw that they didn't make the p30 in 45 after I posted this but the frames seemed similar to each other. I am a fan of the p30, though I have not actually fired one, I have had my eyes on one for some time because it just fits great in the hand. Thanks for your input. I appreciate it. I was thinking about a .40 still not sure yet, all my other carry guns are .45...
  17. Sounds good, looks like I'm going to change my build order...
  18. I'm going to be having a limited gun built but I also want to use it for IDPA. So I'm thinking about having the gun built in .40 with a bushing barrel, and then also having a bull barrel fitted to the gun with a tungsten guide rod for more weight when I play the USPSA game. Any reason not to do this? I have someone that will be loading rounds for me until I get setup to reload...
  19. I was reading in the rule booked regarding dust covers... Isn't a full length dust cover illegal for CDP and ESP? Doesn't the Glocks 17 have a full length dust cover? If that's the case, why should it be illegal for a 1911 to have a full length dust cover if it still makes weight? Just curious if anyone knows the origin of this rule and if there is an intent to change it...
  20. What does the 3gun come with that the regular m2 does not(other than the extended mag tube). Is the 3gun worth that large price difference? I'm just getting into 3gun and was thinking of going with the m2 and just buying an aftermarket mag tube extension like a briley or something...
  21. I'm going to be getting into 3gun and wanted to know what model I can buy out of the box and be good to go. I will be shooting limited so my questions are... 1are there any 12g shotguns out of the box that hold 8+1 capacity and have a 22" barrel? If so what model, model # etc.? If not, what aftermarket parts need to be purchased to obtain maximum capacity.... Any information for this 3gun noob would be appreciated..
  22. I'm looking to pick up an HK p 30, this will be primarily for carry but I'm up in the air as to whether or not I want to get it in a .40 or a .45. I haven't shot either of them but in the store they felt great in the hand. I know in some of the polymer framed guns the .45 shoots softer than the .40. Is it the same with this gun? Let me know. Thanks, Mike
