  1. It's all good now. It might have been the trigger bar spring, but I filed just a few passes on the top of the trigger bar (where it rides under the safety) and it works well now. It might have been a coincidence, but I'll take it . Thanks for your help.
  2. I decided my Shadow trigger was getting a little crunchy, so I took it apart and polished the trigger bar with a dremel and some flitz. When I put it back together it isn't functioning very well. The DA seems to be okay, but the sear doesn't disengage every pull in SA. It seems like it's not lifting the sear far enough. I'd appreciate if anybody has any advice.
  3. Well I just came back from another match where I shot a high quality reload 230gr ball. Same issue. I cleaned out the extractor really well last week. Maybe extractor tension? I tried a test I found on Youtube, and it seemed fine.
  4. I was shooting an IPSC match with my Kimber Stainless Target II and I chose to use a batch of new Winchester WB "Brass Enclosed Base" ammo (I know never switch at a match!). I had around 15 failures to go into battery. I've shot around 2000 rounds through it, so it's well broken in. I also polished the feed ramp and I'm using Wilson Combat mags. I've had this issue before with standard factory ball ammo as well, but not that many times in a row. Some have told me the extractor is too tight and some have told me my recoil spring is wearing out. I doubt I'll shoot anything but ball ammo anymore, but it's disappointing if it's just the ammo and my $1200 gun is that sensitive. My Shadow is almost half the price and it will shoot anything without issue! Any ideas?
  5. That's what I ended up doing. Then I used the Dremel and some Flitz to polish up the magwell opening. Way faster mag changes now!
  6. That's a good idea. I guess I can mark the edge with a sharpee or something.
  7. Thanks guys. Good point about the Dremel. It spins pretty fast, so maybe a fine metal file would work better.
  8. I just bought an Ed Brown magwell and I'm going to install it on my 1911. I have a Kimber with a beveled magwell and I heard I'll have problems with mags catching unless I open up the Ed Brown a little. Should I just use a metal file or my Dremel? Do I open it up until it flows right into the beveled edge?
  9. I agree they look awesome. I have a high grip as well, so It's going to be a nice place to rest my thumb.
  10. I watched a few Youtube videos on it and it doesn't look overly complicated. I doubt my gunsmith would charge too much, but its a pain in the ass getting a transport permit to bring it there (Canada). I'll probably just bring it to him and not have to worry about screwing it up. Thanks for your input.
  11. Does anybody have experience installing a Wilson Combat High-Ride Ambi Thumb Safety on a Kimber custom (not ambi from the factory)? Was there a lot of fitting required? Or did it drop in fairly easily? I don't mind working on my guns, but the safety on a 1911 has to function 100%.
  12. I kind of figured I was rushing and probably not lining them up properly. Maybe subconsciously I think they are easier and just rushing through them. I'll take my time, line them up, and tickle the trigger. Thanks to everyone for their advice.
  13. I'm new to these forums and relatively new to action shooting. I've been noticing at the last few matches that I can't really shoot low targets very well. If there is a bank of 4 I can hit the 2 upper ones well, but blow it on the lower ones. Anybody have any advice?
