  1. L2S, Yes he does maintain the same time between splits than between target transitions, I shoot with him almost every week in practice and see him shoot every Saturday in our local IPSC club matches, there are guys who shoot much faster splits but take a year to move on to the next target and between stations, that is one thing that makes Estuardo the best shooter in GT plus he is very consistent. I just checked the results from the Postal Match he finished No.1 in Production division. Too bad he had malfunctions in Limited division in the nationals, that is really his strenght, I did not see the results of Open so I am not sure how he did, BUT I imagine not as well. Also good teacher, I have been only shooting with him for about 2 months and already moved from U class to C and I am shure that for the next qualifying match I will make B class. Brians book is also a great piece, its what I take with me when I need to travel around. S.
  2. So what do you guys think about No.11 Estuardo Gomez??, I did not see his name mentioned in all of the discussions (except 1 brief one). Did anybody see him shoot?, he finished 11th overall, do you guys think he could of finished better if he had been in the super squad?. I think he is a great shooter, and a great teacher from Guatemala (that´s in Central America, for all of those who don´t know) Interested in hearing from anybody who did see him shoot? Txs
  3. Thanks!, great looking guns! While doing this investigation and speaking to a few fellow shooters I have been asked the question of Why do you want to shoot Open, try Limited instead, it keeps it more real. I really don´t know why , I think the Open guns are the most awesome guns I have ever seen but I honestly do not know what is best Limited or Open?, any advice, comments from you guys will be of much help. I checked today some of the web sites for Limited guns and they are also beautiful guns (Brazos, Limcat, Dawson). sgrc
  4. Can somebody give me the EGW web address? Thanks
  5. I just started shooting around 4 months ago, and so far I am shooting Production only with a G17. I am getting ready to shoot another class, and I think I would like to go with Open class. I need advice on the Best open Gun to buy (prepared to pay for a good deal). By reviewing other link I think I would definitely go with 38 Super cal. Thanks

    Glock Magwell

I have the brass magwell on my Glock 23, although both Glockmeister and TopGlock stated it didnt fit the mid-size frames I decided to give it a try (I could always send it back). And voila! it did fit . I had to install +3 Arredondo Base pads in order to be able to push the mag in, but other that that I have experienced no problems. And yes, I did feel an improvement on the way the gun handles, I feel it recoils alot less. I guess the extra weight helps keep the gun down?, although that would make sense if it was at the front not the rear?? I got mine from Topglock, because the guy at GM instisted it didn´t fit and I carved a small piece off the bottom of the trigger guard to have a higher grip. Good luck.
  7. HELP! I am loading .40 S&W for my glock 23 modified for Open Class. I use a KKM 4 inch barrel with a 2 port 1 inch Comp by KKM I was using VV320 to load for MAJOR PF and am getting pretty constant 175PF with 4.9grs of VV320 and 180grs FMJ bullets. However I have been checking the manual and VV does not recommend this powder for this caliber (at least with 180gr bullet weight). Flexmoney adviced to get a slower burning powder since the pressures might be too high for my setup, say VV350. The problem is that it is not available around here (I live in Guatemala, Central America), the current only options I have are the following: VV320 VV330 Hodgdon HS-7 Titegroup None of the above are listed by the manufacturer for that caliber . I guess that VV330 is better than VV320 as it is at least slower burning, I am not sure about HS-7 as it is not listed for .40 180grs, although I know it is much slower. Can anybody give me some advice as to my best options, or does anybody load with VV320 for Major PF with above specs or any of the above powders. Thanks alot
  8. I posted a similar question on a different topic, but it is directly related to the W320 I am using for my .40 G23 with KKM barrel with Comp the following and I am getting 173pf 180 grs West Coast bullets 4.9 grs W320 OAL 1135 Crimp 419 I just started with this recipe and am happy with the PF which makes major but I am looking for any advice on the safety of the loads or others experience. Thanks
  9. I got a recipe from a friend which I tried and worked fine for me. I am shooting a Glock 23 with KKM barrel with Comp in Major PF. .40 180gr West Coast copper bullets 4.9 gr W320 OAL 1135 Crimp .420 I took 20 round and used my Pact chrono, they all delivered from 173PF to 176PF. Does anyone advice against this recipe, or should I be safe with it??, my concearn is that the W manual does not recommend this powder for .40

    Glock 23 Wont Feed

Good news! I just came back from the range and the gun worked perfect!, all I really did was close the crimp to .419 and change de guide rod to the stock guide rod instead of my LS rod with Wolf 15 pound spring. I got a PF of 174 which makes Major. OAL is 1135. I still want to change the stock guide rod, I just don´t like the plastic one. Which one do you guys recommend?. And also since it is working fine with the stock guide rod with stock spring, should I get the same 17 pound spring?, what is the advantage of getting a lower spring? thanks

    Glock 23 Wont Feed

Nick: I have not found a 13 pound for the mid frame glock 23, it only appears for the large frame 22. Can use the same one cutting off to the proper length? Or can anyone tell me where can I get specifically a 13 pound spring for G23. Flexmoney: With the lee FCD, I just checked their web site, is this the Lee Carbide factory crimp die you are refering to?. will this die work with my dillon Square deal B?. When you mean the die sizes the whole round, is this equivalent to rolling the brass to get it back to its normal dimensions? In the meantime, I will go tomorrow to try some new rounds and check vrs. stock guide rod, without the comp, mag without the +3 and stock springs, etc.. see how it goes, and I will let you guys know. sgrc

    Glock 23 Wont Feed

Nik, Yes my rounds drop freely into the barrel, I am using a size roller to get the brass back to normal after it expands. The recoil spring could be a solution I was thinking of, I will try to get my hands on a 12 or 13 pound spring to give it a try. As with the mag springs, I am using the Arredondo +3´s and they come with a Wolf spring (which I think is made for the 15 round mag +3 but I phoned arredondo and the guy told me I could use the same one on my 13 round mag +3??). I forgot to mention It is the stock slide but I have cut out the top of it (sort of like the G35) to get some weight off. Yar, Thanks, checked thats ok. 300lbg, I am re-sizing the brass, so the Glocked brass should be the problem. By the way the round gets stuck at the tip, not at the brass. Thats why I am thinking about the crimp. fireglock, What is a lee FCD?? Thanks to all so far for help.

    Glock 23 Wont Feed

I finally finished modifying my G23 for IPSC Modified division. Only that it Won´t cycle with every shot , Here is what I have: The GUN : GL23 KKM barrel with compensator JP Enterprise sight melted into the rail Trigger mods (LS firing pin and some other stuff I did from the Rhea article) LS guide rod with 14 pound Wolf spring Brass magwell from Glockmeister +3 mag extensions from Arredondo on standard 13 shot mags Checkered grips (melted, feel very good) All of the above make a gun that does fit into the IPSC box therefore qualifies for Modififed. The loads: VITA N320 at 4.9 grs West coast 180 gr bullets 1130 COL .421-.423 crimp The most common problem I got today was that the round was not feeding into the barrel, it got stuck trying to go into the barrel. the rounds got really stuck as they woulnt come out just by ciclying the gun, I had to use a stronger method (grip slide with hand and hit hard on frame), which made me loose alot of time. Any help will be greatly appreciated, so far I am thinking a few solutions: 1. Try a lower recoil spring (although I havent found anything under 14 pnds) 2. Crimp a little more, maybe .419 3. Do stronger loads Please help.
  14. I just bought the small pact II timer, I really like the size and ergonomics, although I feel the buzzer is a bit low. Is there a way to turn up the volume? In addition does anyone know if you can set up multiple par times on this thing?, also can I review previous strings in memory or just current? Thanks
  15. Flexmoney, I assume that your suggestion of not going below .115 is that the risk of the sight braking is to high?. I will be careful. Do you think it is best to thin the front sight and later decide to open the gap in the back?, what should I look for in order to know if I should open the back too. Or should I start with the back sight first and then decide to go to the front if required? Also, once I file the sights I will take the black paint off, any suggestion as to what to use to re-paint them black? Finally, past Saturday I was talking with 2 friends who took off the Heinie´s (Slant Pro) from the Glock 17, they said it made them hit above the intended target, apparently they fixed the problem by switching back to the stock glock sights and just applied black paint to the white dot and bar. Have you ever heard of this before? Thanks again
  16. Can anyone give me instructions as to how should I cut my Heinie sights?, I have read it is best to thin the front and open the back in order to allow a clearer sight picture. Any help on how much to thin and open would be great, as well as what tools to use for this.
  17. Mcoliver, Garfield, thanks this information has helped. I have followed the thread and found excelent material. Sergio
  18. Are you sure on the IPSC "NO" answer?, why is IPSC different than USPSA for Production division? Also, a few friends use Heine sights?, why are these legal?, where can I find a list of legal sights for use in Production then? Thanks,
  19. Hey, Can I use fiber optic front sight on a glock 17 for IPSC production division? Thanks Sergio
  20. I shoot a glock 17 in Production IPSC, somebody just told me that I could install front HI VIZ on it, but I am not sure, can anybody tell me??. Is there a list of sights I can use on my Glock for Production division. Thanks Sergio
