  1. HI All, Thanks for all the replies!!, looks like there are indeed quite a few good choice. I dont have to worry at all then, once I settle in I will make my way to a few of these places and give it a try see what works best for me, will probably contact you again then. I am a class B Limited shooter. Speaking of which, looks like it will be too much of a hassle to bring my limited gun with me into the US, so where do you suggest I shop around for a Limited custom gun?, my current choice is a Limcat Wildcat .40 and I am very, very happy with it, but wouldnt mind trying something new.
  2. Txs, I checked the ATF website, form 6 instructions say: "4. A permit is not required for a firearm or ammunition brought into the US or any possesion thereof by any person who can establish to the satisfaction of Customs that such firearm or ammunition was previously taken out of the US by such person." I bought the shotgun in question in FL, took it out to Guatemala with me over 3 years ago, I am now moving back to TX, I have the original invoice for th FL purchase under my name. So is it really that simple, just pack and carry into the US?
  3. HI, I am moving shortly to the Woodlands, north of Houston. Anybody here from the area that can recommend a good club, range for USPSA shooting? I have heard Tx is a great state for this so I am assuming there would be no shortage of opportunities, its all about finding the best ones! Txs,
  4. What about if you are a US citizen and want to bring your firearms back into the US after residing abroad for a number of years?. What applies in this case??
  5. anybody know about just a plastic STI/SVI 2011 model? I have moved to singapore and found it to difficult to bring my guns with me and shoot over here, so I am being forced to put on hold my shooting until when I return home, in the meantime I would at least like to have a toy gun I can practice grips, target acquisition, draws, etc... I wouldnt be able to use my PACT timer or anything but I think its the best I can do for the time being, anybody seen a good plastic replica? - I think air guns are restricted in Singapore as well.
  6. Guys, many thanks to all - I have emailed John, I will follow up with him and also contact Vince. Good to see I will be able to continue with the sport. Sergio
  7. Due to work reasons I will be relocating to Singapore early 05, I would like to now if any of you know: - Is there an active IPSC organization in Singapore?, I checked the IPSC site and found the link to the local club but didnt find much info, or contact email, and in the calendar all I could see is 1 monthly match!! (I need at least 4 matches per month) - More importantly: Can I take my toys with me?, what permits do I need to get, from who, how, etc.. Appreciate if there are any formum members from Singapore, or anybody that can point me int he right direction. Sergio
  8. After how many rounds should I do this, tear down part? Any cleaning to the trigger mechanism?.
  9. finally got my brand new Rem 1100CM, just shot it yesterday and it ran perfectly, only shot around 50 rnds. Now I wonder what is the proper way to clean it?, How do you all clean the gun, how often is needed, and with what cleaning elements? As always, Thanks. Sergio
  10. Can you install the comfortech system in the M1?, or do you need the complete stock? Are recoil reducers, like the benelli mercury filled legal for limited?
  11. As somebody said to me once: Speed is a by-product of doing the procedures perfectly!, just keep practicing until it all happens naturally. Easier said than done!
  12. A few questions on barrel lenght and cutting, some might seem obvious but with the little experience I have, I am trying to gather as much info as possilbe. - I am clear that the optimum lenght for limited is 22inches, what about Open? - Can you cut a Benelli 26 inch barrel down to the 22inch limited optimum?, I understand from a few forum members that doing this will invalidate the factory chokes, and would need re-threading if you want to use chokes - the question is: Do you need to do this?, or does the gun function properly for IPSC competition without the re-threading for chokes. - What is the maximum lenght/capacity on the extended tubes that can be used on a 22inch barrel for it not to stick past the barrel?, the same for the 26 inch benelli barrel? I managed to get my hands on a M1 26 inch barrel and am trying to decide if I should shoot it "as is" or go alter it for limited. Thanks
  13. The only thing I would be concearned about would be the proper fitting of the new parts.. since I dont have such an experienced gunsmith around . Anyway, thanks to everybody for the replies, now I know the Why and How it should be done properly.
  14. rhino, just to carry from point a to boint b. I havent shot a 3gun match yet, or any stage with a shotgun for that matter, but I understand slings are not used for IPSC. A little of subject but, what is the difference between the Benelli M1S90 and the Benelli M1 Field 21 rib vented?
  15. Picking up this old thread, I have been reading alot and asking alot about the Remmy and Benelli, so here another question: Has remington done anything about the reliability of the 1100 with so many reported cases, I mean is the Comp Master of superior quality (internals) than the regular 1100 or does it use the same parts that are reported to break by the dozen?
  16. I wonder which is the best way to cock the hammer for repeated dry-fire?, so far I just pull the hammer with my thumb and dont cycle the gun, a few friends have said to me that that damages the trigger mechanism and that the best way is to cycle the gun each time the hammer falls, another person then mentioned that this will also harm the trigger mechanism and that the correct way is to cycle the gun with the finger on the trigger as in actual live fire, with the rationale that this is the way the gun would cycle under normal live fire conditions. Which would be then the best way to get the hammer cocked again, while causing the least disadjustment, wear, etc.. to the trigger mechanism. Thanks, Sergio
  17. What is the favorite sling, and where do I get it? What is a good hard Shell case for carrying 2 removable barrel shotguns?, the smaller the better
  18. BTW, is this remington barrel removable easily?, I am thinking that it might be better to remove the barrel for airtravel. A friend of mine bought a Benelli M1 S90, is this barrel also removable, we might be able to buy a 2 shotgun removable barrel case.
  19. Thanks - also the CM comes competition ready, but is there any gunsmithing you guys have noticed it needs of bat. I want to make sure I get it all set before I take it with me to Guatemala.
  20. So I was finally able to buy a Remington 1100 CM for my 3gun Limited adventure. What should come standard with the gun, as far as I have read> - Side saddle from 3 gun gear - Choke system> 3 diff chokes? Not sure> - Does it come with a case, either soft or hard? - Does it come with a sling?, if not is there any preference? What else do I need? I just want to be sure I dont get anything less from the dealer, that what comes standard with the gun. thanks
  21. Thank´s to everyone who has contributed to my question so far. Smokshwn is right on!, the biggest problem is that here in Guatemala we have very limited option of shotguns and pistols... today I concluded my round of all the gun shops in town, and this is what I found: a) Fabarm shotgun: semi auto, very nice BUT very high priced, long barrel configuration only 28" and 30" and as far as I read very few people use them for IPSC, which means: Not proven in competition. Winchester 1300: good price, good brand, downside: Pump action c) Hatsan, semi auto: inexpensive, made in Turkey... The guy selling them claims that Benelli aftermarket parts will fit (I don´t honestly know, but doubt it somehow), these guys have several models but none of them look of good quality (link: www.hatsan.com.tr) Has anybody had any experience with this brand? The above is all I can purchase here at the moment. This is why I am sort of thinking of getting the Winchester, of course if I was told that it was a total waste of money not suitable for competition I would be happier saving my money and not purchasing anything at all... BTW, we are just going to start shooting shotgun matches in December, so nobody really shoots shotgun at the moment , so I can´t go around trying different types.. they are all pretty much finding out options as I am.. Thanks
  22. Yes - cheap it is, that´s why it looks good, in addition there is not much shotgun variety here in Guatemala. smokshwn, what setup did you have in your shotgun?, any speedloading devices, special sights, etc..??, where is a good place to buy the 3gungear sidesaddle?, what shotgun did you move onto after the 1300? Sergio
  23. Trying to start shooting competition shotgun, I currently shoot LImited pistol, so I guess I will shoot limited shotgun just to be a limited overall shooter (for now). I posted a topic asking for feedback on the FABARM shotguns, after reading through the Internet I found that it probably wasn´t the best shotgun to get for this purpose, I have now a friend whois selling a Winchester 1300 pump action shotgun (brand new) - what opinions do you guys have about this shotgun?, it comes with 8 round capacity and an 18inch barrel, would it be a good choice for IPSC competition?, how is the after market competition part for this model?, how much a disadvantage will I have vrs. guys shooting with semi automatic shotguns? Thanks
  24. Never mind - found it - thanks!
